With most games these days a lot of forums are full of people ranting about stuff at the release, when really they are just doing something wrong or they made a mess of their PC. I don't really care what people post on here, especially the ones that don't have the game themselves yet but do feel the need to jump to conclusions based on vague posts by other users. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with you?! Obviously all we're getting is the ones having trouble, as the ones who don't are busy playing the game instead of posting on here. Sure there might be a bug or two in this game, but if they really are that bad they will be patched, either by Rockstar or by ATI or nVidia, depending on where the problem is. In any case I want to judge this myself. If there's anything which is remotely reliable it would be reviews. Most of those are pretty positive so I'm not convinced it's that bad, yet. So you calling all these people with lagdrop/graphic issues too stupid to take good care of their rigs... bold statement if u ask me And you believe reviews over fellow forumposters lol man what do these guys have to lose its not like they are getting exclusive previews like the reviewers and these guys are actually playing it on their OWN pc's instead of rockstars (space) systems with max settings. Most of those are pretty positive so I'm not convinced it's that bad, yet. judging from a lot of people who have state of the art setups and still cant run the game accordingly id say its pretty natural to get complaints. people looked forward to playing the game and spent some major $ on getting the most out of it. and people who havent played it yet might just want to help out and not just jump to conclusions which im sure is appreciated by those experiencing problems. GTAMonkey2012 Posted December 3, 2008 Share Posted December 3, 2008 If you are preorders and getting it then cool, you will have to realy fart about to get a sweet spot, ive been messing most of today and still cant get a happy medium. For those who want to purchase but have a console version already ... id say "give it a month and see how thing lie then". Its not bad to play and as the game itself its awsome, but to get passed the un immersive performance thing will be the thing you spend your first day on as apposed to playing the game fully. the auto detect specs when first run for me were a joke, far too high .. so expect on install to be diving into settings and re-diving backin a few times at least. I've read a few horror stories on here, but I'm remaining optimistic that everything will work as intended. After an extended and highly anticipated wait, I'm definitely not going to throw it all away, simply because a few people are running into problems. Considering the ridiculous number of builds out there, it's no surprise that some of them encounter issues with the game, it's inevitable really. Maybe after a patch, and new video drviers come out, and a crack is release... MAYBE i'll pick it up. It's rpetty sad, actually. R8 has always been one of my favourite developers. Past games rarely needed a patch and they never went retarded when it comes to copy protection. I was really looking forward to GTA IV. Now they release this: aweful performance. GFWL. stupid copy protection. missing textures. Way to go, Rockstar! Of course if some magical patch comes out to fix the performace problems, maybe it'l;lbe another story. BUt R* has always had very poor customer support, so i'm not expecting too much. Of course i also assumed they'd do a good job with this port.. f*ck them, maybe they SHOULD have sold to EA. No I'm not calling all them too stupid. The readme already mentioned some bugs which people are experiencing right now, that's no suprise there. What I am saying (which probable is indeed a bold statement) is what there are a lot of people out there who don't know what they are talking about. It's the same thing as before the PC version was announced. Loads of people saying the PC version would never come cause PCs were supposedly not able to do GTA IV, or it would come after two years just like for the other games (wrong, it's always been 6-7 months), the topic was full of that stuff. Yet what are we talking about right now? I'm not saying everyone is an idiot, I'm just saying there are a lot of them out there on the internet, posting stuff. I cannot set them apart unless I experience the game myself. Well I just tend to have a bit more faith in people who are getting paid for their work and are judged as such, instead of people writing off their frustration. However I never said I believe reviews, I just find them more reliable than random people on forums. Reviews can be wrong too, it's just more rare. Perhaps once a patch is released and when (if) any good news is spoken about it post-patch I might consider picking it up then. Until that day I'm spending countless hours on the Xbox 360 version of GTA IV, Oblivion and Fallout 3. If it's not running on top end machines then it will be fixed, if your pc is 5 years old then im afraid it's time to update If your just a moaning little sh*te then I'd probably admit emo and hang yourself with you shoelace. Because their games are always 100% polished and optimized on release. With the advent of broadband internet, far too many PC developers are willing to ship with numerous bugs, glitches, and performance issues on the notion that end user can download a patch later on.
