I think I'm gonna try to reinstall Windows or something, maybe that makes it work, because I waited for this game sooo long, and now I get this sh*t. I paid 50€ for a product not even working, while my PC meets all requirements.

It's probably not worth trying but if you want to try, go for it. I installed Windows less than a week ago and I have the missing textures too

HEY LISTEN UP! I MANAGED TO GET TO MY COMPUTER SO I CAN REPLY..!

I HAVE AN ATI RADEON X1650 Pro 512mb graphics card, Intel pentium 4 3.0Ghz and 512mb of RAM(i know its not enough:P).

So, when i start the game in harbour, i can see everything. i start driving (game WON`T crash with 512MB RAM) and i still see tthe textures, But when i make two first turns, then at one point, there are no textures any more. Also, in the Hove beach safe house, there i can`t see the walls, just things. I bought the retail version of the game... I`ve tried everything: drivers, reinstalling game, ghangind all graphics in the game, installed .NEt framework3.1 SP1, adding -norestrictions to the shortcut, playing in safe mode etc.

IT DOESN`T FIX THE PROBLEM! I have also ATI Catalyst 8.11. I can`t wait when on the 10th of december the new driver will be released or when the patch comes out! IF IT STILL DOESN`T FIX IT, I WILL THROW THE S*ITTY FU**ING GAME OUT OF MY HOUSE!!!!

PS: When I added -norestrictions to the shortcut and set all in-game graphics to max, THEN MY COMUTER STILL DIDN`T CRASH, WITH MB OF RAM!! I didn`t see roads or houses but cars and peds were with extremely good graphics:biggrin.gif:D:D

I SEE here that people with even 4gis has this problem, so i think it`s not the Ram`s fault..tounge.gif

STILL I LOVE GTA IV:biggrin.gif:D:D:D

Yeah different combinations of equipment yeald various different errors/ glitches the most common being

loss of textures and the best work around so far for that is the ALT/Tab.... don't discount this if you tried it

already in game and you find yourself back to desktop simply select GTA on the start bar at the bottom and

what you should get is the game back pluss all textures minus the sky (blacked out)... a short term fix that makes

the game playable until the patch is available, which i can live with since this is a well put together game like

the GTA's before it.. with a game this complex and all the problems vista has it was always going to be this way

but like before i have every faith that when the patch turns up, it will increase FPS and will look good.

Upon startup I have the missing texure problem aswel. After a lot of prodding and probing I figured out that upon changing the resolution settings all textures came back. BUT I lose all text displayed, the map, the phone, the menu and the minimap (except for the symbols on the minimap) almost like the top layer was corrupted. When restarting the game I get all the text and stuff back but missing textures again until I change the resolution. It makes the game somewhat playable, but I guess I'm gonna wait for the fix from either Rockstar or NVIDIA.

Specs:

Intel core 2 duo 2.13GHz

@GB RAM

Geforce 7950 GT

Windows XP SP 3

This is such a pain in the ass. All I want to do is play.

No textures.

P4 3.0ghz Hyperthreading

1024mb DDR2

ATI X2600HD 512mb

New drivers, old drivers, no drivers, driver cleaners, slaughtering a virgin etc all don't work.

Hey guys,

I read your reactions about this ''textures missing'', same problem as I encountered.

My sys.setup:

Asus P5Q

OCZ 2*2GB RAM @ 1000 MHz

Core2duo 3.00 Ghz (E8400)

500 GB, 300 GB , 300 GB all Samsung HDD's

XfX GTX260 896 Mb videocard ( is centainly not defective because it runs all my other devil.gif 30 games perfectly!! )

Windows XP 32-bits

This all powered by a 750 Watts Coolermaster PSU

I tried everything you guys tried before looking on any forum, my discovery was when I swapped my GTX 260 for an older 8800 GS everything worked, not very high res or anything but no more texture issues.

Hell no after 2 hours of playing GTA IV because I want to play on my freakin' GTX 260, so Rockstar Games plz come on with a patch for the GTX 260 and make it compatable. You can't tell me this texture issue is caused by all issues mentioned.

IT's just the graphics card compatability, because an 8 series Nvidia works without changing anything at all and a GTX 260 doesn't load the textures only. ?!?!?!?!?!

( I repeat: I play all my games on extra high graphics setup on 1600*1200 85 hz without any problems with the GTX 260)

( Also this 8 series is performing sh*tty on high-end graphics, in GTA on 1024*768 85 hz medium quality it's very playable.) ----->> not good enough for my standards

I replaced the 8 series again for my GTX 260, i'll just wait for the patch I think and keep playing Fallout 3 and Farcry 2..... cool.gif

Same problem here as everyone else. However, i noticed its not so bad as some of the screenshots i've seen. All the textures tend to load, if i pause the game then they tend to still be there but sometimes they have disappeared....(was even worse before the latest Nvidia GeForce 180.84 update...)

One thing i noticed is its horrendously bad in multiplayer, don't know if anyone else has experienced this yet...only a small amount of the map's textures actually load completely, the rest has next to no textures loaded at all.

Specs are...

Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.10Ghz

3GB DDR2 SDRAM

Nvidia GeFore 8400M GT GPU

I'm hoping other people still have these problems after the lastest Nvidia driver update...

IT is INCREDIBLE!!!!

FINALLY the PATCH fixed my missing textures!!! I am finally able to play! At first I was suspicious about the patch, because they said nothing about fixing the missing textures, BUT it simply did fix my problem! The game is now very very slow and lags everytime I drive fast with a car. I don't know my fps, because my game crashes everytime I try to run a benchmark test. Well, at least I can play - even if it is not the best quality! Can't be tooo spoiled ;-)

Eventually, i got my missing textures back already a week ago. I just uninstalled all my graphics drivers and settings, ran a program called driver sweeper and cleaned my computer from any graphics sh*t... then I just installed a new ati catalyst 8.12 with drivers and i got it work.. my specs are: Intel pentium 4 3.00Ghz, 1.5GB DDR, Ati radeon 1650 X Pro 512Mb. And the game just works FINE!! already 30% completed though...smile.gif And it was all before the patch came out. But when it came, i installed it too but it didn`t change anything... the game is stiil the same good:D:D

i used the -availablevidmem command line and set it at about 4.0 therefore i now have 128mb x 4, seeing as most of my RAM was being used...and the textures in multiplayer are back now =D

I've updated my graphics drivers to 180.70 + using the GTA patch and there are still no textures except for cars and other random objects like light poles etc. Anyone have any more suggestions? Will this be fixed soon or what.

Download and install the driver cleaner program, then run in safe mode and execute the program. when you have cleaned your computer from all graphics drivers, then install 180.60 driver.. that should work.. it have worked for other Nvidia users and even me (I`m using ATI X1650 pro 512mb)...

I have the same problem. Graphic card is Geforce 8800 GTS 320 mb. System XP x64. Anyway - specs doesn't matter in this case. Lots of people have that problem and this should be signal to rockstar to check their coding of lame and bugged game conversion. Reinstalling drivers as is described here changes nothing. This is bull**it. Support in many cases says that you have to reinstal/upgrade drivers. I have no problems with graphics (even on old drivers) in fallout 3, x3 TC and any other recenty released games so stop telling people to update drivers because it doesn't change anything here. How long we going to wait for next patch release? Bought a game in which i can't play and still waiting since december because of this fu**ing texture problem and nothing helps. Im tired of this sh*t, going to get drunk wink.gif.

Well guys, I believe we can all agree that the prevailing issue is a memory leak caused in certain graphics cards.

AMD Phoenom 9550

EVGA GeForce 8800GTS SSC 640Mb

Win XP x64

2GB OCZ 800Mhz

On a certain thread it was posted that using a 3rd party memory optimizer (WinCleaner Memory Optimizer) will allow you to fix the texture issue, although quite inconveniently.

There seem to be two different issues.. the first of which happens right when you start the game you see missing textures - this appears to be fixed by cleaning your drivers out and reinstalling the new ones. The other issue is when you start the game and have textures, but after a while you lose them and the game is rendered un-playable. I have the latter issue, and even though I KNOW my memory is functional (by using a program called MemTest) a small memory leak causes the game to eat up all your physical memory and then you lose textures.

What I do, is have WinCleaner up (disabled automatic memory optimization every 10min), then start the game. When I lose my textures, I pause the game, alt-tab, and optimize + maximize the memory until its all cleaned up. Re-entering the game will cause it to basically re-do the memory organization (causes low frames for about 10-15sec), but the game is playable for another half-hour or so. Obviously, if you have twice the memory as me, you will be able to play for about an hour at a time without having to optimize the memory.

I can un-restrict the game, pump it up to high textures, highest filtering, 50 view distance, 75 detail distance, and the game runs QUITE well. (1023/640 memory used). I've tried playing within the "green zone" at 435/640 and still get the texture problem. I've tried just about everything everyone else has.

Pretty stupid issue.. its really annoying to have to stop periodically and perform this, but the game is fun so I'll do it until I get tired of the game I suppose.

I'm using an nForce 750a chipset motherboard with the latest drivers, as well as the 180.84 drivers provided by R*.

***SIMPLEST SOLUTION NO NEED FOR MORE MEMORY***

Greetings all,

Got something u may want to try alien.gif :

I had similar issues to almost every reply on this post, first was the service pack issues and if u're running vista (or xp for that matter), then it stands to reason that MS needed to pull something out of the proverbial to get a horse like GTA4 running.

Then came the graphics - sometimes fine, sometimes not and always gone after 10 to 30 mins of playtime. Now after spending a couple of hundred on 4GB Kingstons well I was pissed to find that even that didn't work!! smile.gifbored.gifconfused.gifsad.gifmad.gifangry.gifcryani.gifsuicidal.giframpage_ani.gif

Patches? Useless...

Out of frustration and wires hanging out everywhere (as u do), I was lucky enough to get the game not only running right, but pumped up the graphics options and the game just wants to keep playing!!! dontgetit.gif

Try disconnecting your pc from the internet before playing!! nervous.gif Yep that's it - it seems that the online doodah, that I never planned on using anyway is having a pissing contest for memory usage and taking it out on the graphics. wow.gif

Now if U really want to get online with the game, then I don't know how to help U - seems like no-one else can either.

I suggest u play off-line and keep waiting in vein for Rockstar or MS to play ball.

Simple I know, but that's what worked for me when nothing else did!!

(mind u, more mem makes for better playage - even tho i didn't REALLY need it, all my other games are loving it!!) inlove.gif

Happy car jacking!! devil.gif

Safe Mode driver clean and display driver reinstall. Fail.

Missing textures (ROADS AND BUILDINGS ECT.) Please HELP!

I installed GTA IV on my older desktop computer to see if it would have the same issues as my m9700. I expected It would because it doesn't meet the minimum system requirements.

Windows XP Pro SP3

DirectX 9.0c

Intel Pentium 4 SL7PP CPU 3.4GHz HT

NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB

3GB Ram

Login Social Club. Check! Login Windows LIVE. Check! Installed Game Patch 1.0.0.4. Check!

Using 191.07 video driver direct from Nvidia support site. Check!

GTA IV works with no Graphic/Video Issues (Low FPS) :

Statistics

Average FPS: 9.51

Duration: 35.92 sec

CPU Usage: 82%

System memory usage: 50%

Video memory usage: 94%

Graphics Settings

Video Mode: 800 x 600 (60 Hz)

Texture Quality: Low

Texture Filter Quality: Low

View Distance: 1

Detail Distance: 1

PLEASE explain why GTA IV runs with no Graphic/Video Issues on 6800 Ultra (Low FPS), but the 7900 GS runs with missing textures (ROADS AND BUILDINGS ECT.)
