Well, ok, i was rushing, however a HAVE taken the time to read all the thread so do not go "suggesting" things yourself To those for which this isn't working, try with different beta drivers from Nvidia not just the latest... maybe in the end it's really down to individual configurations and some of us got lucky pulling the trick (glad i'm one of them - to the other hang on, hopefully a pathing/driver will appear soon enough for us all) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

smokeringhalo Posted December 5, 2008 Share Posted December 5, 2008 Here's some additional info for both pll who have gotten the beta drivers to work & those who have yet to get them to work. Make sure have exited Social Club when installing the Beta Drivers. Don't sign out and leave it running in your tray. I've installed the BETA drivers several times now (for reasons I'll get to in a minute) and they've only worked when Social Club wasn't running. Reboot. Take time out and squash the settings bug before you have to deal with it. This may or may not be contributing to the overall problem and recommend it be done. Delete Settings.config Launch Social Club sign in (MMA10 should be fixed now) & launch GTAIV - set your graphics but do NOT run benchmark! Benchmark may have helped you get some textures before installing the beta but they will take them away when running the beta drivers. I have done this twice and had to start from square one to get textures back. Stay away from the video editor while running the beta drivers. It will run fine until you go to publish then it may freeze up & break your textures again. This is my current bane as I spent many hours making an epic movie to not only not be able to publish it, but had to reinstall the beta drivers due to missing textures. If you do end up breaking your textures again, you may be able to get them back by simply exiting social club AND rebooting your system. This has worked sometimes but not always. I went to device manager, clicked on "I will choose what drivers to install", but 180.48 drivers are not there! Use the installer. But firstly remove the old drivers via the Add or remove programs. Restart. Now use the Driver Cleaner (just to be sure) to clean all Nvidia drivers still present in the system. You may need to boot into safe mode to do this (while booting, press F8 key and select the safe mode) and run Driver Cleaner again. When you're done, reboot back into normal mode and run the installer for the new driver you downloaded. When the installation finishes, it will probably ask you to reboot once again. Suiram Posted December 5, 2008 Share Posted December 5, 2008 FIXED IT - I cant Believe it after 3 days of trying and trying i finally managed to get the textures showing up For all of you that have tried all the suggestions so far in this thread, here is what worked for me: (For my Geforce 8800M GTX) Follow all the Steps from OPs first Post, after that download and install RivaTuner 2.2 Klick Here Open it, On the main tab, click the arrow to the right of "ForceWare detected" Click on the broom icon (last icon on the right). What I have found was when restarting a new game i would manage to get it working fine...until after the first save. Played for about 2 hours before the first save with not a single issue. I get the feeling it is to do with the save files. I always lose my textures after the first save...or restarting the game which seems to automatically start with a saved game. But must say...at those times when it does work....its a brilliant game. The detail compared to GTA SA is awesome. raytracer Posted December 5, 2008 Share Posted December 5, 2008 Got it working in vista 64 finally. Runs a lot better with 8gigs of ram than 2.5 or whatever 32bit does. My major mistake was running Driver Cleaner... not Driver Sweeper.. Geez... Here's my steps: 1. First thing i did was go to system properties-hardware tab-windows update driver settings-and checked "never check for drivers when I connect a device". My vid drivers were installing themselves every time i rebooted. Don't know if this is relevant but whatever it runs now. 2. Uninstalled video drivers from control panel 3. rebooted into safe mode and ran driver SWEEPER, then ran CCleaner. Then Ran them both again. And then again to make sure everything was gone. 4. rebooted into vista 64 and installed 180.70 5. restarted and game had textures right off the bat. Note: Running with line in shortcut: "******\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\LaunchGTAIV.exe" -norestriction -nomemrestrict /high Also set max render frames to 1 in nvidia control panel. Goodluck! I read all posts but even rockstar is not aware of problems with the 9600GT, so i doubt they will make a patch for that. I am tired of trying all the time. warlordcs Posted December 5, 2008 Share Posted December 5, 2008 just a quick warning using driversweeper if you have an xfx mobo or any other nvidia mobo, make sure you have the drivers for it as some will be swept thinking they are video drivers. also its apperant that there are 2 different problems here 1 is people who have an immediate or distance related missing texture, which i would believe to be a video error. 2 others seem to have a missing textures over a time period, which would seem more like a memory leak. as some who reported this noticed thier ram filling up untill full, when it should be releasing some back after youve left an area. it might help save time and help others if you specify which problem you had when and if you post how you fixed it Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

vaursechs Posted December 5, 2008 Share Posted December 5, 2008 Installed rivatuner 2.2 and did exactly as posted.. textures are fine until I drive around the city more than 10 minutes.. then they're gone or half-gone... Doenst matter on which grafic setting I put it, it does it on high, medium and low... I can see my memory is completely full when the textures are beginning to disappear.. altough I have 2GB DDR2 ram ( OCZ Titanium ). E2160 2 Gb GeForce 8600GT 256Mb So it is a RAM thing??? I only have 1GB and cannot upgrade, but 1GB is the minimum system requirement! It HAS to work with 1GB. They won't take the game back in the store PLUS they told me that I must have installed it wrong, which was normal for girls. That is pi**ing me off!!!
