Do you guys think that the game will run on max on:

Intel quad core 2,88 ghz

4 gb ram

geforce gtx 260

vista

I want an answer from somebody who has played the game.

It's a single card so I doubt it. You could do with another 260 and some more GHz out of your CPU. I can tell you that without owning the game because it is just f*cking common sense.

anyone played this on a quad core? would like to see some benchmarks with identical gpu's and ram, and then put a C2Duo against a C2Quad and see what difference two more cores makes.

few games actually utilise multiple cores, and even fewer utilise them well...

I can max out crysis with that freaking specs. Single 260 won't do the job? Bullsh*t.

Pish, my rig pwns single 260s and 280s on Crysis and I can't max it out. Stop bullsh*tting yourself.

280s and 260s on their own ain't the be all and end all of GFX.

And your 2.88GHz from your CPU is no where near enough to max it out.

GTX280s are beasts, and I can max out Crysis with no lag whatsoever.

HOWEVER that 2.88 GHz will cause problems. Try overclocking it. If it is a Q6600, I can help.

GTFO. your reply isn't worth sh*t.

Narr he be stating the simple truth of the matter.

Either way you look at it though, there were talks of the game running "a dream" on a dual-core with a single 8800 (they didn't say GT, GTX, GTS ect)

So if you've got an 8800, or equal feel fairly enough screwed.

I'm running 2 8800GT's in SLI, and I fully expect to get f*cked over.

Let's face it, the game isn't optimized at all.

From all I read around forums about guys with high end specs being running on 30fps the game must be CPU Limited. Means whatever graphic card you'll plug, if your CPU limits the whole components of the PC, the game wont go any faster.

And from another member here that just passed his CPU clock speed from 3Ghz to 3.7Ghz; the game went way faster than what's to expect.

IV seems A LOT CPU dependent.

He said GTX260, not the same as a GTX280. Allmost but not quite. Besides I wasnt knocking them as I am looking to change out for an SLi260 or SLi280 set up soon anyway. Was just trying to knock some sense into the topic, 1 good peice of hardware deosn't allways equal good performance.

I know from fact though that my rig out performs single 260 or 280 cards at Crysis, however I do have to almost set the GFX cards on fire while OCing to do it.

Another part of the reason is my CPU, again this is overclocked but nowhere near it's limit.

IV seems A LOT CPU dependent.

That doesn't sound good. Alright, I'll bear with the low graphics, and low resolution. Maybe 800x600, maybe 1024x768. I'll cut down everything. But for the love of God. GIVE ME AT LEAST 30 FPS WITH THAT DAMN 8800GT AND A DAMN DUAL-CORE FOR F*CKS SAKE! WHAT KIND OF SH*T IS THIS GAME THEN?

Are you guys forgetting that this game was based around multi-core CPUs?

The X360 has 3 CPU Cores. (Running at 3.2Ghz each)

The PS3 has 7 Cell CPU Cores. (No idea what the CPU clock speed is)

So yeah, if your running on a single or dual core, you are throwing less CPU cycles at it than even the consoles are. (Unless your running a beefy dual-core. (C2D @ 3.0Ghz or higher.)

Does anyone who has this game have an i7 setup? How does it run?

Rather than bitch back and forth with each other, let's work together to narrow down the causes of the game's issues, and see if we cannot find solutions that will work until R* can optimize the game further with patches.

does anyone actually have any proof the cpu is slowing the game down? anyone playing on a quad? comparisons to dual?

..hey, is there any sort of .cfg or something that you could tweak? maybe you could turn the shadows off? (it's stupid that they didn't allow you to turn them off, that should give a good boost..)

I dont think it is CPU related. I have 2.4 quad and horrible performance. However, all 4 cores do seem to peak out alot more than in other games i currently play/played recently (CoD4/5, Mass Effect, far Cry 2, Medieval 2).

I have a quad core, but im afraid i wouldnt know how to provide you the information you need. The game is extremely laggy on mine, i tried playing it and got up to the third mission before i gave up entirely. Im not playing it until R* release something a patch that makes it smoother, its just not worth it, it ruins the experience.

By reading all the topics of these forums, it looks like it won't run at all on my computer. This is really disappointing because I can play all of the other newest games just fine. confused.gif

Some of you are way overthinking this / blaming CPU's when you shouldn't be.

This is a bad port issue, poor coding and possibly even driver related (mostly for us ATI users)

Although this game IS CPU demanding, those with e8400-8500 duo's and anything over a 3ghz quad should be able to max this game and providing a decent GPU maintain 40+ FPS. (probably higher since this game does not allow AA currently)

Or continue to unjustly blame hardware, its your choice.

I think R* have done a horrible job porting GTA IV to PC. I better see some patches be released or i'm not getting this game.

Well in another post ParoXum mentioned someone tried it at different clock speeds and it made big differences on their Quad.

I will try it at standard 3.0 then clock it to 4.0 and see the difference for myself when I get the game, although this helps with any game but I have a feeling the cores will count with this GTA.

People with 2.4GHz Quads, that is not fast enough. Even a q6600 can be clocked to over 3.2 to 3.4 on air cooling and be pretty stable, makes a massive difference too.

If i get my hands on the game tomorrow I will do some benches with clock speeds etc and see how it goes, I will be sure to post some results when I do. I can underclock to hit 2.4GHz as well just to try and get everyone in the picture.
