Fatal error resc10 (press esc and blam crash)

Same here - resc10;/

but I don't think that it's really caused by running out of video mem.

I was monitoring the usage of video memory with rivatunner while playing and this is what it showed:

user posted image

So at the moment of the crash gta used only ~250mb of my 512mb. U may notice that I managed to play only a few moments before the game crashed wink.gif

I don't know if it helps anyone, but it proves that the description "out of video memory" is just bullsh*t.

My spec:

core2duo e6600 (2,4GHz)

2gb ddr2 800mhz

8800gt 512mb

xp sp3 (installed .net 3.5 sp1)

I have the FATAL ERROR: RESC10 too.

The game has been running fine since I bought it yesterday until earlier today. I played the game, closed it, shut down PC, came back later, turned on PC, started GTA IV and bam, RESC10 soon as it tries to go into fullscreen.

I tried rebooting and (re-) installing drivers. Can't get into the game anymore! I'm pissed the **** off!

Yesterday I must've played for like 6 hours and probably the same amount of time today before the error started.

My system specs:

Core 2 Duo E6400 (2.13GHz)

2GB DDR2-667

ATI Radeon HD4850 512MB

GTA IV PC - "MMA10" Error

Posted by adamcs at 11:57. Category: General

If you experience the following error "MMA10" Error when trying to run Grand Theft Auto IV on the PC...

GTA IV PC Error

...then sign out of Rockstar Social Club to get rid of it. This means you won't have access to multiplayer or Social Club TV, but it will allow you to play single player until R* corrects the issue.

I could not agree even more the social servers are having BIGGGGGGGGGG problems with Flash player validation issues.

because i have cs4 installed i get to see all the wonderful Flash errors when i was tring the online MODe.

The game runs absolutely brilliantly max settings view distance at 25. i was for the longest time getting the RESC10 error. go to this link

http://www.rockstargames.com/support/req_s...4&submit=Submit

MY fix was just keeping the veiw distance down. read below though

and

Read the link in this section of the site. the game has memory issues. YES BIG ONE'S

So for the people that dont want to click the link here it is PASTED in the forum

THE GRAPHIC SETTINGS OF GRAND THEFT AUTO IV PC

Most users using current PC hardware as of December 2008 are advised to use medium graphics settings. Higher settings are provided for future generations of PCs with higher specifications than are currently widely available.

Graphics settings are limited by system resources by default. 256MB video cards force minimum settings by default. If a user bypasses these safety measures using command line arguments and exceeds their system resources, the users gaming experience may be compromised.

Video Mode

Resolution scaling effects water, reflections, shadows, mirrors and the visible viewable distance. The resolution settings relate to the amount of available video memory. At 2560*1600 the game will require 320MB of video memory in addition to all the memory required for content. At 800*600 the game will require 32MB of video memory in addition to the content. Medium resolution settings are recommended for most users as higher settings are only usable if there is available video memory.

Texture Quality

Texture quality affects the visual quality of the content of the game. High setting for textures will require 600MB of video memory at a setting of 21 View Distance in addition to the memory taken by the Video Mode. A medium texture setting is recommended for most users.

Render Quality

Render quality is the texture filter quality used on most things in the world rendering. Most people would know this as anisotropic filtering. Medium settings are recommended for most users and will provide filtering beyond what the console versions can execute.

View Distance

View distance scales the distance in which different objects in the world such as building and cars are seen. Raising this option increases the distance in which high quality objects must be loaded and will increase the memory it requires. Restrictions are established to ensure the game runs optimally for most users. A setting of 22 or more will provide PC users an enhanced experience over the console versions.

Detail Distance

Detail distance scales aspects of the environment that the View Distance setting does not including vegetation, trash and other moveable objects. A setting of 10 would be the equivalent to the performance on a console. This setting has little effect on memory.

Vehicle Density

Vehicle density scales the traffic density of the traffic in the game. It has no effect on the mission vehicles or difficultly of the game, but can have a significant impact on CPU performance

Shadow Density

Shadow Density controls the number of shadows generated for positional lights in exterior environments. These shadows are exclusive to the PC version and can have a major impact on CPU and GPU performance.

Crossfire/SLI

With the latest ATI driver (8-11 series) the game supports crossfire modes (ie. 4870x2)

SLI is currently unsupported. Support will be added through a future game patch as well as an updated Nvidia driver.

NOTE: Background Processes

Certain background processes can have a detrimental effect on system performance when playing GTA IV, especially on systems with minimum required system memory. Users should ensure they disable their Virus scans (especially “on-access” type scans) when running the game to maximize performance.

@ WilderDK: We're talking about the RESC10 error, not MMA10.

@ Sycuss: I get the error when the game starts (when it enters fullscreen mode) so I doubt it has anything to do with graphics settings (for me at anyway).

I have a Q6600 with Dual 512MB 9800GT and I can't run it max. I had that resc10 error because I had 32 draw distance and the rest 100. There all now in line with the first setting ... I just make sure that the writing below is in green and not yellow or red

Yes I did, hasn't changed anything.

Btw., I also tried creating a shortcut and adding '-safemode' to the target. Didn't help either.

Cool. If the RESC10 error possibly has something to do with available resources (since I fixed my error by not exceeding the resource limit), then perhaps the second screen being active is throwing off something. Is your 4870 the 512mb or the 1gb model?

It is a single HD4870 - 512MB version. I'm running both of the monitors at 1900x1200 (or whatever that resolution is for 24")... so there may be a performance related issue there.

This may solve my problem. 7 hours and 38 minutes till I check smile.gif

I came home and tried disabling my 2nd monitor...... And it didn't work.

Nothing seems to work, I can't get the game to even start up or anything. This kinda blows doesn't it? How can they justify the cost for a broken product?

Same issue here. Constant RESC10 crashes no matter what I try. Performance and graphics quality is just awful in general. Missing textures, [email protected] shadows, framerates etc.

So many good folks work on creating games like this and its a real shame that Rockstar management has obviously let down its staff and loyal customers by allowing it to go out like this.

It's a great game but I'm seriously considering taking this back.

So I have to tell, that this error is not constant at least not with my computer.

I had this error first at the mission where you get the pistol. Then I just drove around and did not begin the mission, just driving and killing and stuff .. there was no error.

So I reloaded the savegame and I could finish the mission, after that I played 3,5 hours without the error, but with some missing textures and grpahic glitches and so on.

Howevber after these 3,5 hours *bam* Resc10 error again. Now I get it again with the latest mission, will try to outrun the problem by just driving around.

It seems to me that the game has to get "warm" .. after that the errors go away for a long time. Play it slowly for the first 5 minutes, so the loading stress is reduced.

Maybe that helps for the people that get the crash randomly, not at the very beginning of course.

Hy,

To "warm up" the game doesn´t work for me, i cant run even one benchmark with min. settings without the RESC10..

I think that´s a really bad memory leak and it´not so easy to fix it.

Who has ASUS 5PK motherboard from those who gain resc10 error? Is this possible that resc10 appears most frequently in configurations with 5pk motherboard?

I am not sure if this is good way of thinking, but I try to find some denominator.

Two days ago I bought this game and I still haven't seen the god damn anything except the black menu with white fonts, loading screen and Resc10 error.

Of course its bull---it that its "Out of memory system - please re-boot" as they claim in error codes brochure.

My specs

Quad core 2.4 ghz

Geforce 9600gtx+ 512mb (tested my version of gta with my other card, Geforce 8800gtx 768mb also; the same error appears at the same moment, so I assume it's not a stricte graphical unit problem)

4GB ram Kingston.

Windows XP sp3

NetFramework 3.5sp1

Tried with disabling some codecs in my system too, but no solution.

I have question: is this possible that not our systems but just the first series of DVDs relased from rockstar may just be wrong, causing RESC10 error in effect? I haven't tried with another copy of the game.

Just updated all drivers (video, sound, chipset, etc.) and still no luck. Was expected tough, because it worked before on the drivers I had installed. And since the last time it worked until the error started I didn't change a thing.

God damn it. It's almost impossible that you buy the game and it does not work in such an stupid way.

Which is worse, you just dont know why it runs for others and you wonder why it is your copy/system that generates RESC10 error.

two days since buying this crap and still nothing. Wasted about 18 hours for solution, and still nothing.

There are people with performance issues, but what if you even cant see any performance with resc10 thing?

Time to leave it for weeks for any patch, but I am skeptical for working patch - lot of people with fallout 3 (pc) are still waiting for patch (month already passed) and their game dont run at all or crashes as hell.

Something wrong goes in pc gaming industry.

the german game magazine Gamestar.de did a survey..and it

showed that from over 4000 people who bought the game, 80%

experienced either bad performance, crashes or even couldn't

get the game to run in the first place....

when do you think rockstar will react and get us a patch of fix?

Ok, I have already tried my luck with Valve and asked for a refund (bought the game via Steam).

If I go back to the desktop and close the Rockstar Social Crap after the game is running it will crash after 15 minutes or so but it will freeze every now and then. If I dont close that it will crash after 5 minutes or so, unless I stay in the game walking (not running) and it will not freeze that often and the error will take some time to appear.

Other times I won't get the RESC10 error, the game will simply freeze and then the sound and music will stop and that's it. Sometimes not even CTRL+ALT+DEL will help me and I have to reset the computer.

According to the game graphics settings (I've tried it all, and I'm playing with everything at the absolute minimum) it says that with that settings only 192MB of 482MB available will be used and the benchmark will run fast.

I've updated drivers, even the Sata drivers, I've reinstalled drivers and still nothing... For example I can play Race Driver: GRID just fine for hours and hours at 1280x1024 with all the settings at high and 2xAA.

My system:

Intel C2D E7200 (2.53GHz)

Asus P5Q Pro

Asus EAH3870 512MB

OCZ Reaper PC8500 2×1GB

Audigy 2 Platinum eX

I seriously suspect of a bad memory leak of some sort.
