Thanks, no edition, thats how the game looks, these four screenshots were taken using GTA 4 video editor + FRAPS (.bmp) , then converted to JPG.

Im using some mods that i believe make GTA 4 look better, like some skins, weapon textures, blur tweak, plus im beta testing the new GTA 4 Environment Mod by kriller2, all these screenshots were taken running this mod.

So the contrast and/or ilumination here is made witht the enviroment mod? I mean, there's a screenshot of the environment mod on the mod page and it still doesnt look that damn good and vivid as your screens :=

 

If im lucky ill get my new video card tomorrow (it would be the first time the store recieves an item on the scheduled date but one can always dream ) so i'll be trying the mods you mention some pages ago in the next days

 

also, i feel it's my responsibility to give cookies where cookies are due

Because of that pic now I know that GTAIV need more than 1.5GB of Vram for the max setting.

Look at your sig, all High and reducing some View Dist will make it.

THe thing is i have played it with this rig, just that i used to have a 8800GTS 320mb, which broke some months ago, im getting the gtx260 soon and i wonder if it will give me any boost or the CPU will hold the fps where they were

 

And im really looking forward to Mafia 2 The first game was amazing. The godfather game however, i didnt like at all

Well, there is no doubt that the env mod contributes a lot, but i play 100% GFX maxed (same settings posted by RonFTL) plus farclip 3500, to give you maximum view distance (its included in the environment mod).

Also saturation is set to 100 (maximum) plus brightness and contrast (all in GTA 4 "Display" menu when playing) are also tweaked for better results.

In NCP - Nvidia Control Panel i also use personal settings for Digital Vibrance.

Btw these screenshots were made using the version 3 of the mod (beta tests) , much better than the version 2 thats available to the public at the moment.

hmm but the digital vibrance setting from the nvidia control panel doesn't actually alter the screenshots i think, since it works on real time even with the desktop. but i dont reallly know

You must adjust the Display settings, the default are simply horrible in fact.

just to be sure, what i mean is that once you take the screenshot, if you open it, it will look like ingame, and, if you disable digital vibrance you will see it without it, since it's applied to the screen and not to the files neither the frame buffer.

Yes, what i mean is that ill take a screenshot using lets say 75% of dv, then save it to my desktop, quit GTA 4 and then adjust dv back to 15%, and finally open the screenshot.

 

Edit: DV wont alter the screenshots, only your game experience, so the color and overall quality of the screenshots will depend on the GTA 4 GFX and display settings (saturation, brightness and contrast) , and additional mods / tweaks.

i'll try in a while, i still have a replacement 8400gs so the game runs at 4fps max or so lol but its enough to try and the a nice contrast cant wait to get my hands on the GTX260 though

HAah, no.

 

I dont have a 2gb gtx 260. It only has 896mb.

 

But I used a command line so the game thinks that I have nearly 2gb.

The vram is shared with the 6gb of DDR3-1600.

 

If your rig can allocate memory fast enough it will be fine.

As you can see, I can play hours with the settings maxed out and still be in the 40's

For gfx, GTX295 is the best. For processor (Core i7 or Extreme??) RAM >4GB DDR3, HDD 10.000RPM will make GTA IV maxxed, highest resolution and playing in 60 (or higher maybe?) FPS.

 

Oh btw is that any news or speculation when the Mafia2 released?
