I was just patroling 40 min in GTAIV's "Times square" and there is nothing intersting to capture ,in addition the editor's filters are just useless at night, so I can't post anything right now, anyway I will try to find and post something in 20-30min, I promised that

This isn't really helping the topic, but what I keep on seeing on these forums is just insane.

 

My specs: Q6600 2.4 GHZ, 2 Gb DDR2 800 MHZ, 9800GT 512 Mb , Win XP SP3

Running the game maxed smoothly, compared to:

 

 

Intel Quad Core 2.3 Gighz, 4 gigs of ram, 9600 GT 512 MB

 

 

I can play 'somewhat smoothly' in 1280/1024, texture detail is the only thing that can be maxed. Everything else put to low, view and detail distances set up to 50/50.

 

Vehicle density... doesn't affect too much to be onest. I put it up to 25 because I figured that would be a decent ammount.

 

Seriously... is this game being picky or what do you guys do to make the game run good? I plan to buy a 'superiour' graphics card at the end of this year (sounds wierd; main reason only to run GTAIV properly)... but I'm afraid it won't help alot.

I feel bad for trashing such a cool car... but the proces of demolishing it was really fun though.

 

I know it can get worse than this... but this is the most 'trashy' I achieved up to date.

finally decided to try that Realistic Environments mod. it doesn't change nighttime too much but I think it makes morning and mid-afternoon look outstanding. the slight change in the color of the vegetation, water and some of the vehicles makes everything feel more realistic.

Here it is a better version, similar scene, only edition was to "join" two screenshots taken using the video editor, at the same position, resulting in this "super wide" view (click to download 3360x1050).

the 2 separate screens almost look better than when they are combined. you know, the compressed level of detail which cause the slant near the ceneter.

but both of them are awesome.

 

the panoramic without the fake lens flare is much better

I've been using Packie for my bodyguard. He's definitely the best shooter and knows how to split skulls with the bat.

Oh and he likes LRR.

I don't know why, but I've always loved the Sentinel in EVERY GTA game to date (of the 3D era of course).

 

I'm not sure why it's so appealing, it looks nice and sporty (at least in GTA4) without going overboard,

and drives fast but not too fast...

Well I've finally managed to get GTA IV running relatively smoothly . Only took over 3 months .

 

Screenshot when I first got it (3 Dec 2008 - day of release):

 

 

Was completely useless, my PC was under min specs by a mile.

 

Now:

 

 

Using 1.0.2.0 patch and bartekxyz's graphics tweak (not sure if the latter does anything though). Definition is On (otherwise, regardless of tweak, there is motion blur which is terrible on a "low spec" PC).

 

Commandline parameters:

 

-norestrictions -noprecache -usedirectinput

 

 

The graphics setting are mostly medium, with the draw distance etc. relatively low. Still it is good enough for it to be playable.

 

My spec:

 

CPU - AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (single core)

RAM - 1GB PC3200 DDR SDRAM

GPU - NVIDIA 7600GT 256MB GDDR3 RAM

MB - Asus A8N-SLI Premium

 

FPS is acceptable (haven't measured actual FPS), even at 1280x1024.
