4870HD Grahpics problem - Auto settings = low? WTF

mehmetali you are wrong...don't you understand gpu's or something?

please understand that the 4870HD is a really really really good card......if it can run crysis full high settings at 60fps at 1900x1280 then it can run gta4....

now sniper, how do we unrestrict? where do you get that command line?

And if you look at the box the reccomended grahpics cards are WAY older than my one, therefore mine should be more than capable.

I think i won't be the only one getting this problem

i know very well indeed buddy.

but its gta IV u know.not crysis or some other sh*t.Its obvious that u need a 1024mb of gpu memory

maybe u sould lower ur res. and then try to set the setimgs max.

youre stupid, theres nothing like the 4870 on the market right now so just shut the hell up

Hmm...anyone with an Nvidia card experiencing similar issues?

Yeah this is the most interesting question now, i can't see just one nvidiauser here, why?

Very strange, only atiusers buying and playing gta4, can't be?

a report from GTX 260/280 users would be nice, this cards have a lot of memory and are fast.

BTW: in a review of a german magazine gta was "eating" over 700mb of videomemory with high textures setting already in 1280x1024!

I still have no gta4, don't now if this is correct, but it sounds very shocking! sad.gif

I wouldn't be suprised if only 1%of people here that can run it on high. The game is designed to look good on low and can be moved onto max in a few years time when better stuff is out. dont just assume that cos you have 'x' gfx card you'll be able to run it on max. You don't know what you are talking about so STFU.

cut the bullsh*t, every other game lets you max settings out so why wouldnt this game let you

bad port imo

Well, just got registered to this forum.

I had the same problem like you guys.

Couldnt max out the texture quali...

My PC: intel quadcore 6700 @ 2.66

4 gig ram

Geforce 9800 GTX 512 mb

Vista ultimate 64 bit

Playing on a 22 inch @ 1650 x 1080

I got past the texture restrictions by using the -norestrictions command, so now i can max it all out, the game runs at an acceptable framerate but still it looks crappy, as if there is no antialias at all and shadows are just poor and stuff....

I'm so freaking mad right now......

Hi,

My stats:

ATi 4870HD

Q6600 2.4 quad core

Windows Vista 32-bit w/ SP1

4gig ram.

For some reason GTA4 won't let me play on max grahpics?

My computer is surely able to run max settings, and for some reason it won't let me.

Its letting me play on high rendering but lowest texture detail - WTF????

Is anyone having this problem?

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

hey man, there will be two things

1,there will be a problem graphic card or its driver

otherwise the game meant(made) for nvidia (the way it meant to be played)

im using an ATI 3870.

try reading the readme file, its there for a reason

edit your shortcut to look something like this:

"E:\Games\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\LaunchGTAIV.exe" -norestrictions

you will then be able to max out settings.

all you people that dont even own the game and have started blaming ati can (insert expletive here) off.

im off to play GTA IV.

thanx rockstar for a great game.

Because only R* employees think its a good idea to read the instructions and documentation that come with the game? Go read the leaked readme file, it tells how to do this stuff.

No, you won't run it at all, it will explode. sarcasm.gif

Nah, it'll work just fine I think, idk about your video card being a 8800gtx, maybe try it first? That's if you have the game already, if not, then just wait until someone with a 8800gtx will post results.

Good Luck smile.gif

res 1680*1050

Texture Quality: high

Render Quality: very high

View Distance: 100

Detail Distance:100

vehicle 100 (im gonna lower this for gameplay...roads are really really crowded with cars..lol)

shadow I set at about 7 (so I guess its not all maxed out..lol, close enough is good enough)

What fps do you normally get? seems that the setting requires bunch of resource suicidal.gif

No cause hes the only one here Ive seen today with suprisingly positive feedback. And dont give me that 'the guys without problems are playing it' talk, cause its too many problems/crashes/performance issues listed here on the forums

Screens?

I will download fraps and get some screens, fps stats, that sort of thing.

Keep in mind I would actually like to play the game before I have to go to work...lol.

Im expecting Frames to be in the 20's, but thats with everything maxed out. the 3870 is an older card, so you blokes with the 48.. series should be totally cool.

the game is completely playable for me all maxed out, but there are some drops in fps here and there...no gamestoppers though.

I will prob lower some settings (like render distance maybe) to smooth it out a bit.

I havnt played the game long enough to have a distinct impression yet.

I would have been surprised (to say the least) if my system ran the game at 60fps maxed out.

lets just say that I am happy with my rigs performance with this game and im keen to get stuck into it.

no crashes yet either.

One thing I have noticed is that some textures will pop in and out...most noticably when turning around very quickly.

Errrr....if the people playing it don't have problems, they won't report any. The only people complaining, are those with problems.

You just bought a game. it works, and you like it. what do you do? you probably play it, rather than go post on forums, no? if i had my copy, i sure as hell wouldn't be on here right now.

im using xp sp3.

sorry for my noobiness, but how do I post screens here?

by the way, with all details maxed out, my rig averages somewhere in between 24 to 35 frames. most noticable slowdowns are in large traffic incidents (that I cause), ie accidents.

completely playable, but I will tweak a few setting to keep it at about 30 fps

p.s. ATI employee? LMAO, im a musician.....lol
