I have my sliders at around 20 and my settings on 'high' at 1920x1080 and the game runs at a peak of around 80fps. Very rarely does it drop under 55fps. radioman
6gb ram with an i5? that means you'll be running your ram in single channel.. which is not good for performance TBH, I'm not sure if the Ram is Single-channel or not, as it is the way it was when I bought the laptop. The only thing I did, was go into the ATI Control Panel and set the settings to "High Performance" and to emphasize more on Performance rather than quality for games. Yet the games still look pretty darn well....lol Also, since I have 2 video cards on this laptop(the ATI one and the Intel HD one, I'm not sure if both cards are in use or not while the game is running, as my GPU usuage is only like 40 something percent.? Right now, this is the only PC that will actually play IV. The only thing holding me back on my desktop is the Video card. With that being said, does anyone have any suggestions on what card would work best on my desktop, which is an Acer Aspire M1100-B1410A Model(I bought the PC at Wal-Mart #919 back in August of 2008, if it helps) with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor, 3GB DDR2 Ram, Vista Home Premium SP2. Right now, it has an ATI Radeon X1250 w/ 1407MB VRam(256MB Dedicated).-which will not run IV. I know it's an old and outdated video card, but i'm not sure what cards would be compatible with the PC. I would like to keep the budget at a maximum of $150-$175 if possible?, but let's see what the recommended upgrades are? Any suggestions?

The laptop will only be using the ATI card, since it is much more powerful than anything that Intel has thrown out; they can't both be utilised at the same time though. First you should probably check that the power supply is capable of supporting a discrete graphics card. 400+ watt would be a minimum for a new card in that price range. You'd also need to make sure your motherboard actually has a PCI-E slot, or whether it is only AGP capable.
