Knyte
Alright well I had some questions for everybody. Here's what I need to know. I am building a rig and I need to know if I can get an average of 30+ FPS with the setup that I am about to present. I also would like to know if Crossfire is used in GTA4, I know that SLI isn't but answers are appreciated. Processor : Phenom II x4 3.2Ghz, quad core. GPU: XFX Radeon HD 4850 1GB 256-Bit GDDR3, Core clock is at 625Mhz. Memory clock is at 1990 Mhz. 3GB of DDR3 Ram 1066 Also is their a mid-high range video card that could be a step up from the 4850 that may cost equal to or $30 - $50. Thank you! The only other card in that range is the GTS 250 (Rebadged 8800/9800 GTX). Which would outperform the 4850 in some games. The ATI would run better in Source engine games, while the GTS 250 would run better in Unreal engine games. It really comes down to whether you prefer ATI/AMD or Nvidia. WindedTrash
Cant do a benchmark at the moment but ive got average of 50 fps in the last benchmark i made, and i dont even have a quad core so thats pretty good See my specs below. I guess i could get a little better by turning vsync off, but then my graphics card starts to squeal like a pig Edited February 28, 2010 by WindedTrash

However, the result of TBoGT benchmark is pretty much spot on. I think it's to early to tell if it is actually trustworthy but if it is, let's hope some graphic card review sites add them to their usual list of benchmarks. And yes, I use an old driver (9.9) because that one gives me the best performance on my hardware. No commandline was used either. Ultraman1966
The benchmark is not really representative of actual in game performance. At any rate, although I have a q6700 clocked at 3.2GHz and a 5850, I find that turning on shadow yields too much of a performance drop. I get 30fps in outdoors even with view/detail distances at 25%. I've now turned off all shadows and get over 40fps consistently. I'm not aiming for a lot but 30fps gets choppy easily. Anyway, if I do put shadows on I get this Statistics Average FPS: 51.69 Duration: 37.24 sec CPU Usage: 70% System memory usage: 72% Video memory usage: 78% Graphics Settings Video Mode: 1680 x 1050 (60 Hz) Texture Quality: High Shadow Quality: High Reflection Resolution: Medium Water Quality: Very High Texture Filter Quality: Anisotropic x8 Night Shadows: High View Distance: 22 Detail Distance: 22 Hardware Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Video Adapter: ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series Video Driver version: 8.17.10.24 Audio Adapter: Speakers (Creative SB X-Fi) Intel® Core2 Quad CPU Q6700 @ 2.66GHz It's a bunch of lies as I'll never get 50fps at night time outdoors with shadows on.
