Extortionate

Drop the Detail Distance down a lot. This option really hits GPU performance, so keep it between 10-20 unless you have a very powerful system(Quad Core, 9800+)

Also I've noticed using in game Texture Filtering makes the performance worse, than using it set inside your graphics control panel.

Their benchmark utility is a joke. It does not reflect anything close to real performance.

In the benchmark:

Real time benchmarking in game with FRAPS:

Frames 6496

Time (ms) 153039

Min 28

Max 65

Avg 42.447

So as you can see I get 20fps less in game then it indicates I should get in the benchmark. My max FPS is closer to the "average" fps they claim I get.

If i had a nVidia card, i'd use the control panels options. But ATI's CCC is just plain crap.

Then again I don't go crazy and max every slider like some seem to just because they can. Possible connection? wink.gif

I wonder if that has something to do with the OC on your CPU. moto_whistle.gif

Anyways, it seems that the amount of games(sh*tload) and some apps I have been installing has put a toll on my GTA4 FPS, and I seem to get the famous memory leak now. mad.gif All the usual defrag and crap didn't work. I haven't tried the command line yet, but if that doesn't work then I assume another re-install of XP would fix it, like last time, I guess. confused.gif

My benchmark ATM, no difference from last time aside from view distance getting reduced and veh density is now at 25 with nearly the same FPS as last time. sad.gif
