crackdawg
FYI the only advantage the i7 Extreme with HT and SSE4.2 has over the cheaper quads with 12MB cache are those two features which GTA IV doesn't even use. I get the 45W versions with the smaller cache and can out number the I7 Extreme users stats at the same settings. If GTA IV didn't have a thread lock HT would actually give it epic performance boost. I got the Bloodrage GTI for 150$ from a friend, UBER cheap and 1 month old. overclocking the i7 was SOOO easy compared to my old Q6600 and 750I, i hardly had any hickups at all getting 4ghz stable at near stock voltages. if you need help overclocking, overclock.net is a GREAT place to go to also I think I know why you get such low FPS, have you tried running view distance at like 25? and Detail Distance at 30-50 for your system. My PC sucks so much I can't even Benchmark! It just crashes when going to do it. So I guess I must have a low benchmark then aye? mine used to crash at the benchmark also, wouldnt even start to load. I dont know what fixed it, maybe a patch or reinstall. it works now. um i am getting terrible frame rates. at everything at max at 1680x1050, i get 35 fps. ????????what the hell is up with that. i lowered textures to medium and everthing else at lowest and at 1680x1050 and got 40fps. i have a core 2 quad q6600 at 2.4ghz radeon 4890 and 4gbddr2 windows xp sp3. i have patch 4 running. should i have done patch 1 then 2 then 3 then for? overclock to at least 3.0 Ghz or more if you can, set the draw distance to the point where its right below the max MB that your video card has. For example, mine is 896 MB so I have my Draw Distance and Textures set so it uses 844Mb. Also try a lower draw distance (if you're using like 50+) I just set mine at 50, playing around with that will gain or lose u FPS also. your computer is very capable of hitting 50FPS on the bench as the video card is similar to a GTX260 and you just need to overclock that CPU. Most I Ever got was with the Q6600 at 3.4ghz I got 52 FPS Edited July 23, 2009 by elBATCHo
