I actually played the game @1024x768 only because I was playing on my old ass TV. I benched at my pc desk. I played a bit @ MAX and actually wasn't to bad, but if it got crazy around the way (many cars, explosions, etc) then it would bog like crazy. This game is awesome compared to GTA:SA (which I was playing before this). Bikes and cars take some time getting used to as well, but its all in good fun. Seeing as this is R* next-gen title (maybe not the only, but the only one I play)I understand and welcome the change. All in all its a great game...except for...

The only thing I have negative to say about the game so far is the Pool mini game lol. I loved playing pool in GTA:SA. Was just fun as hell. Now not so much. They give the player leads on the next ball. Also the cue doesn't really have any movement. It hits a rail and stops...really annoys me. No money to gain from it either (yet).

Anyway love this game can't ask for anything more after waiting for so long! biggrin.gif

Edit: Added 512 Superclocked also its an EVGA vid card.

Everytime I put or take something out I attempt to defrag. Everyday I clean and run regseeker, remove temps etc. I didn't expect to run it on high at all. Im happy playing it @1024x768 on my old ass TV (RCA CRT). It really blows GTA:SA out of the water. The reason I do is because my 5.1 is in my living room. tounge.gif

The clip used in the build-in benchmark is a scam. It shows a few Faggio's chasing and

shooting each other near Star Junction. The roads are empy, hardly any other car or

pedestrians visible. Thus the results are way to optimistic.

Ingame I'm lucky if the fps stays around 30. On certain spots the fps shoots up, like in

a park. And sometimes the fps drops below 18 or worse. Check for yourself:

http://i35.tinypic.com/28vylww.jpg 43 fps, in a park

http://i34.tinypic.com/2myb7uf.jpg 18 fps, driving fast in the rain

http://i35.tinypic.com/125nb7b.jpg 35 fps, overlooking the river towards Algonquin @ night

It's playable and looks way beter then on my console. However, considering my hardware and

video mode the game should perform much better so it basically sucks.

When people benchmark is it based on where you stood in the game? becuase thats going to be mis represented if you stand in the house, the FPS in the house was always fine, get out in the street under some shadows facing the bridge and water and try it.

This is of course if benmark works that way.

I'll be playing it on the following system, with xp x64(fully updated) ran through advanced systemcare optimizer beta, tomorrow. I'll see what happens.

CPU: Athlon 64 x2 5400+

RAM: 4GB Kingston HyperX 800Mhz 5CAS

Monitor: 22" LCD 3000:1 2 second rate

Video: BFG GF 8800 512MB GDDR3 hardware-overclocked to 700Mhz on core, with "thermointelligence"

Mobo: Biostar M2 SE+(720a bridge)

HDD: SeaGate 7200RPM SATA 3.0GB 80GB

I'll try some stuff and see how good a frame rate I can get. I'm pretty interested in what could/should be modded too.

EDIT: Also to settle an old argument, someone run it on a PCIe 6600 or lower...

I remember being called a moron for saying it wouldn't run on anything less than a GF7 or better GPU.

If you are one of those people with ~30 desktop icons, and 5 media players, and 4 security solutions, usually running, then don't bother posting benchmarks.

The benchmark tests are done under a heavy 3d simulated environment you can find this test under the graphics options ingame it saves your benchmark .txt file located under C:\Documents and Settings\Computer Name Here <<<<\My Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\Benchmarks if you want feel free to post your results as i would like to look & other users also thanks death

How do you copy the statistics, didnt find any file with it in the GTA IV directory?

I get 49 FPS average, 1680x1050, medium or high doesnt matter (very high on render settings didnt change FPS either). turned down the shadows though i think it's on "4".

The benchmark is worthless though since it doesnt say anything about how the game performs, 49 FPS means i get around 16-26 FPS in-game, which means the benchmark would approx have to show 100 FPS average for a (imo) playable game.
