I don't need their money.  I happily give them my money because they're doing everything right.

Exactly what I am thinking.

I am not a fanboy. I think both consoles are exceptional, but PS3 owners, you must realise that Microsoft is doing so much more to get people to buy a 360. Sony are doing very little to convince people to buy their product.

Microsoft are offering a console with, arguably, the greatest online experience in the history of gaming, FANTASTIC games (NOT that the PS3 don't have brilliant games wink.gif) and a gaming machine that is much cheaper than its main rival. All of that PLUS Microsoft's great backing of the 360 means that you get a quality piece of hardware and its being shown in the sales of the two (Wii is not included).

IMO -- would be stupid to not port it to PS3-- the hard work would have been done (rendering the city)-- new missions/story in LC would be very simple (for them) to do.

Not if Sony determined that they stood to make less money by offering DLC on the PS3 than they do by accepting Microsoft's $50 million.

If Rockstar estimated that PS3 DLC would make them $40 million and Microsoft offered them $50 million to keep it off the PS3 you can see why it's not stupid to make the exclusivity deal with Microsoft.

It's a business and making the content available to PS3 owners isn't necessarily the best business move for Rockstar.

Thats why Rockstar SUCKS. all they care abut is MONEY. not people

rockstar dont suck everything has to make money face it the ps3 is old not enough money behind it enymore microsoft is the way forward because they so f*cking rich. ROCKSTAR ARE THE BEST GAMES DESGINERS AND DEVELOPERS OUT THERE BAR-NON SINCE I WANT TO WORK THERE IN THE NEXT 3 YEARS I THINK YOU SHOULD RESPECTFULLY SUCK MY BALLS AND f*ck OFF

This is sh*t. I suggest to all of you Playstation users this, because I'm doing it too:

Get an Xbox arcade (jasper unit ( look for 12.1 on top of the box ) ) + Xbox Starter kit ( 60 gig, headset, 3 months live ) and a used Xbox version of GTA IV. It's simple, work your ass off, do a double night shift, do whatever it takes, because it's better than hoping for nuthin.

I was planning on getting an Xbox, but I guess I'll work even harder to get it early.

Ps3 is old eh? I'm pretty sure Xbox 360 was around quite a while before ps3 hit the shelves. Oh, and can i take this opportunity to "respectfully" suggest that if you want to work at rockstar in the next 3 years, you ask someone with a basic understanding of spelling and grammar to type your cv for you? icon14.gif There's a good lad. You'll make a fine tea-boy one day.

And yeah, i'm, a ps3 owner. It sucks that we aren't getting TLAD, but it's time to accept it and move on people. suicidal.gif

Look at it this way. Microsoft paid 50 million to keep DLC exclusive to 360. They did this so more people would buy there product. Hell it worked as that was the only reason i bought a 360. Fact is PS3 users can whine, hope and complain all they want but in roughly a few months at most i will be playing a good quality game from a good quality games company.

I'm a PS3 owner - I admit I'm disappointed that we don't get anything sad.gif but it's not the end of the world smile.gif

Tbh, I'm happy Microsoft payed $50M to R*. Hopefully they'll put that towards the next GTA and we ALL can have a new fresh game which will probably be better than GTA IV

Personally, GTA IV is a demo to me, a test run for the next GTA. So yeah, I thank Microsoft for paying a huge amount of money to R* - hoping they use that on the next GTA biggrin.gif!

Btw, if anyone says "It'll be exclusive on the next Xbox" or "It'll be exclusive on the PS3" - Be quiet... you have NO idea what you are saying.

No.

Micrsoft paid fifty million dollars to have TLAD made. They didn't pay to make it exclusive.

your all forgetting something, there just consoles, and some decent pc mods will more than make up for the lack of LATD for ps3, ( is LATD really woth crying about when it comes down to it) i had to mention this because people arguing about which console is best and how some exclusives are better than others is quite annoying, it has been going on for so long, a 360 owner will never convince a ps3 owner that there console is better ore vice versa, what it boils down to is that people are always going to stick by there decisions no matter which console company pays for the next "must have" exclusive....imo turn.gif

I have a PC and if I cared about a bunch of dorks writing half-assed mods that are nowhere near as good as what Rockstar makes then I'd buy a PC copy.

It's a question of quality vs. quantity and I'll take 2 official and professional DLC episodes over 1000 crappy mods any day of the week.

and again, this isn't coming from someone who doesn't have the means to play the game, like the PS3 owners who convince themselves that the content sucks because they can't play it.

Im a ps3 owner, and sure if we had the dlc I would get it. But at the same time, we ps3 owners are the ones who know, at the end of the day, we aint the suckers who are buying BACK what should of been in the game in the first place. Think about it this way, so far all thats been confirmed is new weps, cars and a story. Apart from the story (big deal) all your doing is buying back what should of been in the game in the first place. There is still no news on new features and stuff to do after the story, so once you have finished the lost and dammned story, then what? Your still alone in LC with nothing to do, but this time your a biker, wtf is the point? Im sure the novalty of another class of weps and a few cars will die after a few hours.. even if there was more stuff to do like in SA, which would later be confirmed, thats further proof that its a big marketing ploy, hell bent on killing our gaming expiriance and making us buy back features, so f*ck micro$oft for that. Im not sure, but I can believe Sony not investing in DLC for that reason, because they aint money grabbing bastards like micro$oft and believe that our £40/$50 is worth the full expiriance not another 50 for dlc! I get so frustrated because I seem to be the only member on this forum that understands that!

GuruAskew, you said in an earlier post that we ps3 owners are getting 1/3 of the expiriance and you are getting it all. Good for you, the fact is in the past we all got the full expiriance, now we (well you 360 owners) have to buy it ALL back. Who are the real winners here? You seem to be the suckers that will be investing 50 of your hard earned £/$ on two packs which should of been in the game in the first place. In reality for the GTA expiriance to be preserved and follow SA's footsteps we should ALL say no to DLC and let R* know that we are not going to tollerate such a money grabbing scheme. IMO the DLC is going to totaly kill GTA if it gets more dominant in future titles.

I'm an avid GTA fan and I have an xbox with the intent to purchase the DLC BUT I can't deny what he's saying is right. I feel like rockstar is indeed screwing their fans in the end. He is totally right that we're being sold content that should've been in the game in the f*ckin' first place.

Omnia sunt Communia

It find it hilarious that any of you seem surprised at this. Rockstar is a company, and companies need to make money. No matter how "morally justified" you may think Rockstar is, they're not. They'll do anything to make money, just like any other company out there. The Lost And Damned is an way for them to make money and give players additional content that will increase their gaming potential.

You're not exactly buying it back, if it wasn't in the game in the first place though, are you? These are all additional features that have been added to the original GTA IV formula. It's not like you are paying for a special code that unlocks all these hidden features, you are paying to download additional content that will be added to your game.

This is no different to the Stories franchise. It is a way for Rockstar to make a bit of extra money, while also giving the fans what they want; more gameplay. If I remember rightly, Sony paid Rockstar quite a nice sum of money to make those games, in order to help boost PSP sells. These games never appeared on the X-Box/X-Box 360. Surely that makes Sony as bad as Microsoft?

All the cries of "omg they kept this stuff out of the game to gouge us!" are practically as ridiculous and desperate as 9/11 and JFK conspiracy theories.

There's nothing to suggest that this content was ready at launch or that it's something that could have been ready and was withheld. This content is coming 10 months after the rest of the game and I assure you that it wasn't sitting in a shoebox in Sam Houser's linen closet all that time. I think it's safe to say that Rockstar has been working on this game for some time and the fact that it's DLC will enable them to work on it much closer to launch than any physical media-based game. Some companies do put the DLC on the disc, lock it and put DLC online that unlocks it. EA does this. Rockstar doesn't.

Bottom line: you can bitch and moan about the lack of content in GTAIV compared to GTA:SA until you're blue in the face but in terms of actual gameplay hours they're pretty comparable. You may be bummed that you can't fly around on a jetpack or do quarry missions or break your controller doing all the stupid repetitive button-mashing required to buff up your character but if you actually look at the amount of time spent playing the game to completion you really can't complain.

Now if the GTAIV launch game was 1/3rd of GTA:SA you'd have a valid point but it's not. As an Xbox 360 owner Rockstar has delivered a full game (PS3 owners got this full game too) and those of us who have 360s have two huge bonuses to look forward to on that game.

As a PS3 owner who is unavoidably getting left out in the cold maybe you have some sort of ideal utopia of GTAIV content where Rockstar just releases every shred of content they've ever developed all at once instead of doling it out as warranted by the demands of both consumers and the industry but that's not realistic. You have to figure that if there's some alternate universe where Rockstar releases a full version of GTAIV with both DLC episodes as standard components of the game we'd still be sitting here waiting for the game to come out.

Rockstar put a lot of effort into GTAIV and they threw a lot of resources into it. Nobody has anything to complain about in the basic core game.

The reality of the situation is this: Rockstar delivered a great game to owners of Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, it's just that Rockstar will continue to add to that great experience to 360 owners. Reading this board it's obvious that those of you who don't have access to it are upset about it but I have to tell you:

thems the breaks.

GTAIV is a great game, Rockstar and Microsoft made a deal to make it even greater on Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 alone. That's the reality of the situation and there's no point in:

A: convincing yourself that it isn't Xbox Live exclusive

B: convincing yourself that it isn't something that interests you

C: convincing yourself that there was some large and unethical conspiracy to cripple the game and deprive consumers of their money's worth.

Look what Rockstar has done. They've tricked people into paying for as many as 11 separate GTA games for over a decade, when people could have just waited to buy the most recent one. Can you believe people fell for that? wink.gif

Have your opinion and I will have mine. BTW whats up with the constant refferals to conspiracy theories. I cant take the post seriously when you carry on comparing the GTA DLC to 9/11 lol

anyways the fact is, im a ps3 owner and im not convincing my self anything. I have had it with GTA IV its a good game, but now im done with the story + the extra hours of mucking about after its finished im bored of it. I stand by what I said before after the lost and damned story line, it will still be the same old boring game but you can now be a biker with a couple new cars and weps. Big deal. Thats not convincing my self dude, its what I know. To be honest I dont care. I already said if I could I would get it, but I cant, and it does not bother me one bit. That does not make no fanboy, because the fact is, if I had a 360 I would not be getting estatic over it like some other people are. If you ask me those are the real fanboys.

As far as GTA goes, il only be intrested in whats next after IV cool.gif

People need to sop crying about DLC on these forums and remember there are other games out there. COD ftw biggrin.gif

And the war rages on...

PS3 owner here and I will try to be quick.

The Lost and the Damned will be a nice addition to an already great game. Box owners will probably have a good time with the add on and as a gamer: all of my best wishes to you guys. The only question you should ask yourselves is this: will this cost you a monthly subscription to X-Box live to play? If not then enjoy!

To my fellow PS3 owners: We have a great game now so quit complaining. By the time February rolls around I will be playing KillZone 2, and that is where my gaming dollars will be going. All order will be restored to the universe as the free-market system works it's magic.

There is also a rumored exclusive titled PS3 game coming from the Houser brothers some time before 2050. So there is still hope!

Now as to who buys what when and where...here is my take. Bought my PS3 the day before the GTA launch, made my choice based on a number of things. I knew full well that the Box would get the exclusive content; but I would not rush out and get a Box in order to get the full GTA experience, any more than I would get a Nintendo DS to get the full GTA experience (ie Chinatown Wars). As of now I am happy with my purchase, as I hope we all are. And now...

Let the battle continue...

The only thing that bothers me is Playstation 3 owners coming on TLAD section of the Forums

and then claiming they don't care. If you don't care then don't contribute to the cancer, it's

simple. Yes the two DLC's coming are going to be 360 exclusive, who cares? If I had the PS3

I'd feel the same way about TLAD I do to China Wars, I don't have a DS and I'm not planning

on getting one. But Jessu f*ck off and stop posting in this thread, it's pointless and sucks hard

So far we only know of 2 and Microsoft has them all locked up. The whole concept of further episodes is just something PS3 owners came up with to convince themselves that they aren't being left completely out in the cold.

When Rockstar comes out and announces a 3rd DLC episode that will be available on PS3 you can start getting all excited. Until then you need to realize the reality of the situation: everything that is known to be coming for GTAIV is coming to the 360 and the 360 alone. Anything else is just wishful thinking.

Don`t you beleive it! The DLC was planned months before the release of IV, probably even finished, save a few patches.

Why else would johnny be in IV? Why else would Luis be in IV? Why else would there be news broadcasts, in-game websites and cutscenes that refer to things that will be happening in eps 1&2 of DLC?

Yeah that`s right, BECAUSE IT WAS ALL DONE BEFORE IV WAS LAUNCHED.

If I was a PS3 owner I`d be well pissed to go into [email protected] when I`d finished the story and read on the LCPD database that Bulgarin was dead. What good is that info to a PS3 owner, eh? It only serves to show them that they`ve bought an incomplete game, as have 360 owners!

I am definitely buying LaD, but with a heavy heart, and woe be tide R* though, if there`s as little to do after 100% as there is in IV. What? Vigilante missions where you get shot by the cops while doing their work? Racing an Infernus against 5 Bobcats? That aint right

That's quite a ridiculous leap.

The fact that they have story points in GTAIV that will later pay off in "The Lost and Damned" and the second expansion doesn't prove that they have two complete DLC episodes in the can.

Maybe they knew which characters they were going to use. There are plenty of options in the game, for all you know they gave themselves a lot to work with. That said, what you've described could be attributed to a 1-page outline just as easily as a full expansion they've conspired to withhold. George Lucas supposedly had the plots to all 6 "Star Wars" movies planned out before he even made the first one. That certainly doesn't mean all 6 were filmed in 1976.

10 months is a long time to wait for the DLC. If it was something that was just ready to go immediately there wouldn't have been the delays (this was tentatively announced as coming out about 4 months earlier) and it would have been a lot quicker. Rockstar could have made a killing on the DLC 6 months ago, they would gain nothing by sitting on finished DLC all this time. Look at all the used copies of GTAIV at all the game stores. That's only hurting the game.

Face it, there's no evidence that these episodes were complete upon the core game's initial release and have been withheld by Microsoft and Rockstar. Common sense pretty much destroys that theory too, but again, people believe in some pretty ridiculous conspiracy theories too.

Guruaskew, the DLC was always scheduled for release months after the main game, even before the 6 month delay. The reason is to get maximum sales; on the premise that most buyers will have completed IV and will be hungry for more. Which is true, as theres so little replay value. Used copies of IV are not going to dent any of the sales success that Rockstar have in place, pretty much everyone who was going to buy IV had probably got it on release. Sales have naturally peaked.

Common sense says that. By the time they release the second DLC, that will have already wasted a year and a half that could have been used on the next GTA. I would be stupid, from an economic point of view, to keep doing DLCs that will probably sell under a million a piece, for $20, then to work on another full game that will sell 7 million copies for $60 on the day of release.

Darkgamr, that would be true if they had the whole company working on DLC. I would think R* will have a core team of artist and programmers finishing off the DLC content while the design teams start on the next full game.

I think it depends on the gap between now and the next full game, as to any more episodes after these two. Personally I think Sony may have left it a bit late on that score, and would be better trying to get smaller packs released (weapons, vehicles etc)
