Democrab
Just heard this, all because the idiot in South Australia doesn't want a R18+ rating. Source.
asimov
Ah well, they'll bring it in a few months with the blood spray toned down a little, no big problem aside from the delay. I can't see them banning it outright, like they did with Manhunt 2.
Damo.
Damn, it must suck to be a gamer in Australia. What's their f*cking obsession with censorship anyway?
mr_bungle
Hopefully, no doubt NZ would still get it. It will be put R18, like every other f*cking game here.
Land Of Confusion
I hope I don't sound like a dick when I say this but, what do you expect? I mean christ, the ratings board over there has a f*cking hard on for censorship, problem is, instead of it being a lone nutjob with little power (Jack Thompson) it's the federal government who have quite a bit of power IIRC. poopskin
Ah, you're from New Zealand? NEW ZEALANDERS POOPSKIN OWNS = 1 Anyway, i don't live over there, so it's of no consequence for me irregardless of how much the people are overreacting, But still...As someone said, it'll just come out with a slightly more realistic amount of bloodspray. only problem is the delay. Creed Bratton
I remember watching some Australian TV shows for teenagers about gamers and whatnot. I don't know how can a nation be that obsessed with games, and they can't even play most of them. Sucks to live there. And if you try to leave Australia you can end up crashing on a weird island with black smoke chasing you and stuff F.E.A.R.2 should not be banned. It's a shooter game. Of course there is a lot of violence. That's what "shooter" means.

GTA3Freak-2001
The problem isn't exactly the Classification Board itself its the legislation excluding an R 18+ Rating from video games, if a video game's content is deemed not fitting of an MA 15+ rating then it obviously gets Refused classification. There was some hopeful discussion paper being put forward to introduce an R18+ rating but every state's attorney general had to agree before it was discussed or put forward. They all agreed except for one, yes one Michael Atkinson from South Australia who thinks just like Jack Thompson. So much for a democracy! I don't let the Classification board off totally, they do make some questionable decisions that look very hypocritical. They let the original FEAR in no problems not to mention other games I deem twice as violent or deserving of an R rating. Its also funny that Fallout 3 was in the poo for having named drug usage, oh no ignore the fact you can shoot off people's faces in the game! penguin2254
Now that's just a load of motherfu*king bullsh*t that doesn't make any god da*n sense at all... whew... Even though I don't live in Australia, I am a big fan of FEAR, and for any government wasting valuable time and money on banning a HARMLESS (to mentally SANE people) video game is just petty bullsh*t. But, I can tell you something from the following quote: ""All violence results in large blood spray: there are blood-stained interiors and blood sprays onto objects, including the camera lens. With weapons such as sniper rifles, bodies can be torn apart at close range, limbs are seen flying off and the wounded flesh is reduced to a bloody pulp. The use of nail-guns pins victims to a wall before they fall to the ground in a bloody mass. The scenes often have blood soaked walls and floors and the victims’ bodies do not always disappear."" I AM GOING TO LOVE THIS GAME
Mike Tequeli
Just pirate it. I don't do that, but Australians have earned the right with $110 games and frequent bannings. I'm actually humored when I hear about the Australians authorities of gaming regulation complaining about how widespread piracy is, especially when piracy is so well deserved there. Stefan.
Oh that's just f*cking sh*t. At lunchtime today, few friends and I just sat in the library, talking about how good FEAR 1 was. One of my friends who was extremely pissed, wanted to strap on a bomb and go to the Classification Board's office to blow that sh*t up. Still, it's f*cking gay. Mike Tequeli
I'm wondering how this applies to Steam. Is there any form of censorship when buying games from there? Because if not, it could be a valid solution to your problems. Edit: Thus, as of April 2008, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare costs $49.95 USD in the United States but $88.50 USD (not AUD) in Australia. That's on Steam. f*ck, I feel bad for you. FiliGTAFan
Just heard this, all because the idiot in South Australia doesn't want a R18+ rating. Source. Who would've known a game like that would be banned in Australia? There are many games there that are banned for excessive violence. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_banne...games#Australia Some of the games were banned for silly reasons. GTA3Freak-2001
PC games are region free, as are PS3 games. Xbox 360 games it depends, some are region free and some aren't.
