Shaunr
So you download it and it's automatically part of your current game right? And you load your regular game right? And you can see the changes from there?
Magic_Al
I don't think it changes the original game because the DLC has new multiplayer modes which would be incompatible with players who don't have the DLC. The DLC will probably appear as a separate game on your dashboard, and each game will have separate save files. Both games will use the GTA IV disc data but otherwise be separate. Sort of like having separate executable files for expansion packs in a PC game.

avsrule247
It will probably not appear as a separate game, you will still play as Niko when you boot GTA, and you will probably have the option in the pause menu to play as your new guy. Or perhaps Niko will have a new mission available which will just trigger the DLC. I don't think Rockstar would f*ck up so bad that they made a separate game and the new cars/weapons can't be used by Niko. That would be lame and Rockstar is not dumb. Dear x Sergio
Yeah, and I don't see how the new multiplayer modes would be incompatable with the users who don't have the dlc. The modes just won't show up on the phone and they won't be able to access it.

The modes just won't show up on the phone and they won't be able to access it. That would mean new vehicles, weapons, and interiors (if any) could only be in new multiplayer modes. Having a separate game would allow having new stuff in all modes. Even if it is a separate game it's possible, but I think less likely, that the original game gets patched at the same time to add some new stuff to single-player free roam. There has to be a way to keep original multiplayer so you can play with people who don't have the DLC and the easiest way to do that is to have old multiplayer in the old game and new multiplayer in the new game. Then I say to Hell with the universal game modes. They're fine as they are; the single player and just new modes being improved would be a lot better than having a separate game with no additions to the original story. Ok guys lets get this straight, if it was a second game it would be 6+ gigs in size, so please use your brains. Someone suggested earlier that your will get an option on your phone to play the new story missions. I think that Niko will have to meet the new character in the game to be able to play as him (kind of like triggering a mission). Either one of those are logical, it will not be a separate game. It will not be a different boot file either.

AntiPersonnel
it most likely will be treated as a "new" game. i guess none of you have ever owned a PC before or bought an expansion pack for a PC game. i think it will go like this: you can download or buy the disc, it will be huge (like at least 3 or 4 GB) and it will show up on your XBL dashboard under games as a separate game from GTA4, BUT you have to insert the original GTA4 disc along with loading L&D expansion pack. so, for those of you without hard drives for the Xbox, i guess you wont be able to play the expansion. most likely, if you dont have XBL, and you buy the hard copy at like gamestop, it will probably say on the back: REQUIRES GTA4 GAME DISC AND HARD DRIVE. think of the DLC as a new game, but it uses some of the data from the GTA4 disc (such as accessing liberty city as a map, all the og cars and peds and dialog etc) so that it doesnt have to store redundant data on the new game file, so the DLC wont have to be 6GB in size. the other possibility of course is that once you DL the content, you load up GTA4 like normal and you can access the new episode thru niko's phone then it changes over to the new game mode. but IMO that wouldn't be smart since you have to spend an extra few minutes loading niko's game just to access johnny's game and have to wait a 2nd time to load. of course this is all speculation and no one knows for sure, but dont rule the possibility out. i also am not ruling out the possibility that some of the DLC material will be usable when you just want to play the old GTA4 disc as well (should be a no-brainer) Edited November 27, 2008 by AntiPersonnel
Chukkles
I thought there was a difference between the DLC that gives new weapons and vehicles that even PS3 users will get and the exclusive Episodic content (New missions and character) that is only for 360 users.
