mrcappo
III was the best, the mafia, that one mission where you go to war with the Triads. I like games where you fight other gangs, just wish IV had missions to fight, besides the police missions.

adri1456
If GTA:III is any indication as to what IV and beyond will bring, then I'm a happy player. Now, if I can find my GTA:III game...

visionist
In GTAIII, if you slowly bump a lampost or railing it will bend. In IV, the lampost will always collapse and railings are invincible.
skaterkee
I wish I was younger you know, when like you played GTA 3 and you were off in your own little world. Although its a hell of a lot more realistic my imagination is shot and I can't really enjoy it as much. Hope that makes sense.
Rewdalf
Well, at the release of III I was really happy with it. Before it I played II and the peds there were sort of active and sh*t, but just watching III and all of its 3d glory made me so happy. Had fun with the Tank cheat and stealing cars killing people and all that. Then VC and SA came out and I started modding them, and now comes IV which I really like for different reasons. Algonquin Assassin
I actually think San Andreas felt more like a real place. Every island in IV, all the peds look and act the same, except for a few extra bums here and there. In SA, we had the hick town, full of hillbillies, very different vehicles etc then you went into the gangster areas, full of criminals, low-riders and gang shoot-outs, then when you went into the cites it was full of great cars, huge casinoes and silly peds. (Elvis) Well don't you think that's because IV is based on ONE city? SA gave off that impression, because of the diversity of the map. To me the peds were still lifeless drones. Considering IV is only one city I think R* done a pretty good job with making the peds being different. I don't often see repeats of the same ped, and they all seem to react differently. Kreepman
I remember in GTA III I would never cross the basketball courts in Chinatown, without a weapon, because that was Triad territory. Hell, I'd never enter Chinatown without a weapon period. GTA III will remain my favorite GTA game ever. Just because everything was perfect! GTA IV is a wonderful game, but I don't think it can ever replace the memories I have of playing GTA III until 6AM, just randomly killing people. creat3d22
I remember having a blast with GTA 1 and 2 (never played GTA London) back in the day... first time I played GTA 1 was the demo, included on some gaming magazine's CD. It was fun but nothing "epic"... GTA III got me hooked like few other games had before then. I can't say how long I played but it probably was too much Never tried VC, went straight from III to SA and that was a huge gaming experience for me... it felt so huge, so deeply filled with details... I loved every minute of it. I spent countless hours just having random fun in both, consecutively. Then earlier this year, while waiting for the damn PC version (IV), I went back and finished the stories of both 3 and SA for the first time. Yep, I had never gotten really far... just random chaos. Now that I finally can play IV (don't have a console), it's pretty much all I was wishing for while playing those admittedly wicked earlier games. Looking back now, I don't think I'll ever play the older games again. III seems so empty, devoid of any life, dull and cold... Times Square was a joke, more like some small town's commercial neighborhood... Don't get me wrong though, my imagination filled in the gaps and I had a great time all along. SA was... well, it's still an amazing game with an enormous game world filled with so much detail. I just didn't like the whole "gangsta" style of it, some silly parts (RC warplanes, dancing, etc. WTF?) though I can admire their trying to do something new... especially incorporating more RPG-ish elements into GTA. IV takes it all to a whole new level. I feel it's the perfect balance of everything. There isn't much I could say that hasn't been said yet, but the city is ALIVE and breathtaking! The RPG elements are still there but not overdone, the story is great, the characters are so well done I can actually FEEL for them (something that's never happened in my nearly 2 decades of gaming, played my first games in the late 80's), the game world is huge, not as big as SA but come on how could someone not fall in love with this city? Well, in some weird, twisted way, that is... What Rockstar have accomplished with GTA IV is quite simply a video gaming milestone. I don't think any other game will be installed on my computer for a while, that's for sure. Can't wait to see how they top this! LOL your signature, sir, is simply GAY.... SantaCruz
I think Euphoria was such a massive asset for IV. I mean, look at it this way. In SA, when you jumped off the tallest building, and splattered on the pavement, it was so dissapointing. It was the same animation for if you jumped off a building that was only just tall enough to kill you. You went from 200 km/h to 0, and CJ just fell on his knees, threw his arms back and fell on his face. Complete with that weird squishing noise that occured back then. But in IV, you tumble through the air while NB battles the G forces, trying to keep his arms from being torn apart, and then when he SLAMS into the ground, he freakin BOUNCES! Straight into some pedestrians face. Another example is when you ran over people with III, VC, and SA's engine. They did the same animation as when you fell. On your knees, arms back, on your face, blood, 'SQUISH'. So underwhelming. In IV, running over people is HILARIOUS! I LOVE hitting someone at 160 km/h, watching them fly into the air with a resonating 'THWACK', 'AAAAGHHHH!!!', then they land, and their momentum carries them forward and they cartwheel. I don't know if you've noticed, but they do the same thing NB does when you bail out of a car at top speed. They roll, tumble, and break every bone in their body. It's awesome. ANYWAY, I am reaaaly tired so sorry for any mistakes, I'm off to bed. G'night. WAIT, just really quickly: I think we can all agree that while now we might look back and say, "MAN, those games were sh*t!", they were, at the time, just as fun as IV is right now. I spent weeks on San Andreas flying Harriers, base jumping, doing tricks on the BMX bike, haing gang wars with Ballas. It RULED! That game was so much fun. It's just been surpassed by it's successor.
