soxfan3804
So with the new XBOX Experience you can download your games onto your hard drive but I think you still need the disc to play. So my question is what is the point besides that it may cut down on loading times? Is there an advantage to downloading games onto the hard drive? What about with GTA? RATEDR307
Do not install it to your hard rive. There is really no advantage to it because the loading screens aren't much shorter, but the really bad part is the pop ups. The pop ups are much worse when the game is installed to your hard drive, so I would suggest not doing it because all it will do is take up a lot of space. GTA3Freak-2001
Well it reduces wear and tear on your disc since its not going to be constantly spinning, it also cuts down on the noise if you have a 360 with a noisy DVD drive like me. Games do load a little bit quicker but only by seconds. I can't comment on the pop-up being worse when installed since I haven't done it, some people seem to feel it makes it worse while others don't seem notice so I am not sure. Also its good just in case your dvd gets messed up. lets say you took it to a friends house and you have the game installed at home. your friends cat scratches the disk and it can boot but freezes once in a while. once you get back home it should not matter because all the data is on you HD. that's why i did it. HeadShotElite
I installed Gta 4, Obilivion and Assassins Creed and they all run a heck of alot better. For me it cut loading, Framerate and Screen Tearing down alot.
mr_bungle
I installed it before, just to see what it was like. For me, it did cut down on the loading times. Tbh, I had no pop-ins in my time of over an hour of playing online. It is way quieter now, my Xbox hardly makes any noise while playing it. But I removed from my HDD because I needed more space. dlx
Don't do it. It is quieter, and the loading is marginally shorter but who cares about that, it's GTA you hardly ever need to load anyway. After I installed the pop was much, much worse. Normally, I hardly ever notice pop up. And the framerate seemed to be lower.. After removing it, I had to remove it again, cause the option on the dashboard didn't seem to really delete it... and now it runs like before. GTA is designed to be streamed off a disc, and to cache data on the HDD. It can load data from the HDD and the disc at the same time, which is faster. If you install it, it now has to get all the data from one source, causing like a bottleneck that slows things down. That's why.... same as with Halo3. That whole install to HDD option is useless, untill games come out that support it.

Xboxless
Well I don't know about popup being worse, but what I think it is, is that people expect (including me) that when you save it to your hard drive, for it to have almost no popups. So when we do see them, we think it's worse, because we expected it to be a lot better. Personally tho' I don't care about the popups too much, so I put it on m hard drive, I had 102 GB left before I saved it, and now I have like 97.2 or close to that. DjMiikkii
Well ive tried it, i did notice some small framerate im provments such as wen ur driving under the train tracks and u have all the shadows and stuff a little improvement there and wen u have heaps of cops after u theres a little improvement there in the framerate aswel. but the pop ups are alot worse. You can be driving right next to a building and the texture isnt fully loaded its horrible.
Dear x Sergio
your friends cat scratches the disk wtf how is a cat going to scratch it claws ? Haha I meant why, not how. It was just an odd example. To see a cat purposely scratch a disk with its claws...
