The article says it won't run on a 8500GT, but I bet it will on XP. Uhhhh it won't really make much a difference since Vista can give ram to the video card as long as it has turbocache so chances are it won't run on XP either. This really is not good news at all if it won't run on a 8500GT at all. I can see sales tumbling now since a lot of people are going to be left in the dust especially those of us that don't have the money to upgrade. New games should run on a 8500GT even well on vista with low settings but they said "it won't even run" a lot of us are pretty much screwed..... evilrex
4 GB of RAM? I knew this would probably hog memory with all the cars and such, but 4 GB? Does it seriously use that much memory? C'mon. The PS3 console has only 256 MB of RAM and it copes fine, I understand we can increase the traffic amount and stuff, but it's gotta be a pretty damn high amount of traffic for it to use 4 GB... TruXter
Ok for all the clowns that want to compare every game to crysis. STFU NEWB! crysis is more advanced than squat. Crysis was a broken open code that needed a patch but never got one.. why? becuase you retards where so hell bent on being the cool kid who can play it at max resolution you got your parents to spend 3 grand on a pc and components, only to find that you still couldn't play the game maxed out. Why is this? because the game is crap and really needed patching. THERE IS NOTHING GOING ON IN CRYSIS wow a leaf blew around on a tree and you had 5-20 people attacking you from time to time... GTA is a whole fricken city. on scale , it is probably larger than most of the cities you newbs live in. there is one guy I keep seeing in here who calls himself a "PC Gamer" who so far has had nothing decent to say about the game. to me, you are in no way a pc gamer. You are a newb who wants some unjustified status. Now stfu and go play your 360, we all know you are just here to troll. These people who wrote this mag, did their testing well over a month ago. Before we got informed of a delay. anyone remember the thread about the dudes that got gathered to beta from all over? use the search in the forums every now and again. Most likely you ati freaks can get your ati on the game by now. On another note, I have three hundred dollar self built computer that will play this game atleast at 75% settings. If you people can't achieve that. stfu and grab your $500 console you paid to much for two years ago put your controller in your hands and scream "I play next gen!!!' For those who are bashing the game, if you noticed , this is a gta fan site. Your opinions are not needed here. try google it will find you a crysis newb site.. btw crysis sucked bad. I beta tested it on a 6200 nvidia card, and played it later on a 8900gt it did not change. I actually believe the beta was better than the final piece of... I mean product. camdean
As a game Crysis failed multiplayer (in my view), however it did complete the goal of being the game that couldn't run on high settings on almost all decent pc's, next gen etc .. I welcome next gen, as it brings out better realism in games, and pushes everything to the edge, thats what game development is about on a small scale. I am going to have to update my GFX card, should get paid tomorrow, it's definately going to be an ATI, cheaper for a scaff like me ... Please, suggestions welcomed, I am lost when it comes to knowing whats what .. My budget is £120 or close to that.

Nomad91
Anyone considering upgrading their 8500GT? Me too, my brothers. She is a great performer... Maxing out all source games (1440x900), decent COD4 settings, almost max BF2, and maxing Oblivion... But she is dying I am going to jump to a ATi Radeon 4670. It is available at a decent price ($75), and outperforms the 8600GT, and it isn't very far behind the 8600GTS (in clock speeds). According to the magazines test, the 8600GT will run the game on minimum, so the 4670 will let us bump up some graphics settings to medium. So hopefully, even though the mag didn't mention testing ATi cards, I'm sure they will run the same as nVIDIA cards.
mupet0000
If i need a GTX 280 to max it out with my Q9450, i wont be happy, but it will happen.
ObsessedWithGTA4
I doubt they would release a game that isn't compatible with ATI cards. Especially due to the fact they are the only other company besides nvidia who manufactures consumer graphics cards. Also the fact that ATI has been selling more cards with the release of the 4850/4870 series.

UndeadDevil
Yay my machine which runs almost every game at Max Perfectly can't handle GTA4!! Excluding the Pentium D is extremely stupid (And for the person above who said the Pentium D isn't a Dual Core you are mistaken) I can MAX Fallout 3, Dead Space and all the other games i've played in the past 6 months (except Crysis which I can only run on High)
spudz47
It was tested with Windows Vista 64 Bit Oooooooooh... Now it all fits perfectly. That's a lead off my mind. So don't worry. If those are the very least system reqs on a Vista, we won't have any problems with XP. Trust me, I have personal experience with both XP and Vista - Vista lags everything for no apparent reason... Cojage
So you can play it on minimum on 1024x786 with a 8600gt, amd x2 4000 and 1gb. Well i have a 8600gt xxx(overclocked edition), 2gb ram and a e4500(is that better or slower than a x2 4000?) and i am running xp, so i hope i can play it on 1024x786 with medium settings or even 1280x1024 with minimum settings and with 50% traffic or something. Actually i used to run Vista, it's not that bad but i prefer xp. I don't think you will see a performance increase gpu wise, the only thing why vista is slower is because it uses more RAM memory, not more cpu power or videocard memory. nixxio
Anyways, I'm not worrying at all, it seems I'm gonna run it at 1280x1024 med settings, but that's when I get my PC in the states. mkey82
3,8 Ghz Intel Pentium D or an AMD Athlon 64 3700+1 Gb Ram 14,9 Gb HDD Space A Geforce 7300-7800(not on the requirements but it will run the game on lower settings then 1024x786)(for 640x480 or 800x600) or a 7900 GTX for (1024x768)(You will also run it on a Geforce 6800 but only on 640x480 on low graphics and without trafic or it will lagg) Here he quotes them saying the Pentium D as a minimum. I don't understand why would single core processor crash the game. Let it run slower, why crash it?
Rickzu
For High graphics settings with resolution 1680x1050 An Core 2 Duo E8600 or AMD Phenom 9650 4 Gigs Ram 14,9 Gigs HDD Space Geforce GTX 200 W-what...4 gigs of RAM? I kinda wonder why they skipped the post-4000+/E4400 dual-cores and jumped straight to X4s Oooooooooh...Now it all fits perfectly. That's a lead off my mind. Sorry to bust your bubble, but modern games actually perform better on Vista. DX9c games seem to run better with DX10 installed.
