Cheers guys. Textures have been finalised, I've been doing some final tweaks to particle.cfg. Fires now have smoke!

 

I was planning to make better spark effects, but I may just release it now and save the sparks for the 1.1 version.

 

If you look at the pics, you'll see the custom coloured map icons I made, they look better than the original ones. I'm planning to release that too.

Sorry about the lack of information. I've been making some tweaks to the mod; smaller smoke textures, etc. I'm working on it right now, it should be up soon.

Looks great! But one thing - your explosions still don't look realistic!

How don't they look realistic? I'm not taking a hit at you or anything, I see it as constructive criticism.

I've finished the mod! The file is 10.1 MB in size, even with a few compressed textures (no, don't worry, they're for the smoke effects only), I was planning to upload it to GTAG first but I needed an increase on the filesize limit. I'm also uploading to TheGTAPlace and possibly CodeNameGTA...

No, the whole mod. But that's when it's compressed into a RAR file, the real size of particle.txd is around 20-30 MB. That's because GTA3 keeps all its effects in one big file.

OK people! Some things that I plan to achieve in the next release include:

 

- Better refs (already done!)

- San Andreas-style sparks (they change colour from yellow to orange as they cool down)

- GTA IV-style wheel dirt effects (dirt goes flying everywhere when you slide the car through dirt)

- Fire hydrant spray effects (when you break the fire hydrant)

- Improved water from Firetruck's water cannon

- Minor improvements to lighting, smoke and splash effects.

 

Even with GTA3's restrictive particle engine, these things are possible, though maybe hard to do. Hell, I might even give the effects a complete overhaul and just release it as 2.0, rather than 1.1.

 

I'm not promising GTA4 graphics for GTA3, but I'll try tounge.gif At least R* did get one thing right with the standard graphics - the fog effects. They look real as, even better than San Andreas, so I'll stick with them.

I found true XBOX model. BTW, you should fix the smoke after burnout. On low end computers (like mine) its laggy and it's non realistic, because the smoke stays for too long. I would like to see XBOX reflections... sigh.gif

Smoke tends to hang around fairly long after a burnout. It doesn't lag on my computer and mine's not even that flash (it's only a craptop). Anyway, if you drive away from the smoke it starts disappearing.

 

What are Xbox reflections? I still reckon my reflection's a better choice, but they look better on higher-poly cars.

The XBOX reflections is almost real.

They are real-time reflections.
