Sergi
I wouldn't go that far. 10-12 hours is the typical playing time for an expansion pack, not a full game. Full games, when not rushed through, should be in the range of 20-30 hours. I don't know how many recent games you've played but not many games come in that 20-30 hour timetable anymore. Most games are around that 10-15 hour range now adays besides the massive games like GTA.
Zach
You're kidding, right? I suspect you either need to play more games, or stop rushing through the ones you do play.
deathdealer
so, can you rob banks like in the first one? If so, is there anything that has changed or is it still the same as GF1?

SIKKS66
Aaaah now I'm put off. After GTA4 and Fallout 3, big cities in Sandbox games should be mandatory. Probably gonna end up buying it when it's cheaper in price. The original game was actually pretty good for it's time; I bought the PS2 version the day it came out and thought it was awesome. Just (again) after GTA4, any game without ragdoll physics seems dated.
Omnia sunt Communia
From what I've seen this game, and The Godfather series in general, has a lot of features that I would like to see in a future GTA game. Extorting businesses, executions, robbing banks; these are all things Grand Theft Auto is lacking. Rockstar, if you're listening: Steal these ideas! Mein
I finished the game in 15 hours, every racket, every family eliminated. I would say I sorta rushed through it but still it was kinda short. The game was pretty good but I just wish there were more to the cities than like 3 small sub areas in each city. I would say its better than the first Godfather but not by much, still a good game though. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate it a 6.5... maybe a 7. There is a tad bit of buyers remorse going on in my head right now...

WelcomeToLibertyCity
...the story is a bit short... Exactly how short? I think I finished it a day after I started it. Just like the first one. Only EA can f*ck things up like this. Geez, it took me fkn 2 or 3 months to get through the first one. So if you blew through it in a day you must play ALOT. Anyways, I'm going to get this one today. Looks awesome and I can't wait. I'm going to be staying at my relatives house for the next 2 weeks or so and they have a huge TV, so that will add to the experience! Zach
About the length, I think the moral here is that people get out of it as much as they put into it. After a lot of mulling it over, I went ahead and got the game yesterday. It took me two hours to get through the intro, not because it was difficult, but because I explored every inch of the map (the Cuban villa/whatever, upstairs and down, and all the streets between the villa and the airport), I talked to each and every NPC multiple times to hear all their different responses including all the people dancing, and I took my time taking out all the enemies by varying my tactics just for fun, i.e., shooting them in the knee, gut shots, limb shots, head shots, using different weapons, etc. I'd be willing to bet that the rest of you guys just blew threw the intro in 3-5 minutes, didn't ya? So, sure, I can probably beat the game in 5-10 hours, but why would I want to? It's just like when Doom 3 came out or Quake IV, there people on the forums exclaiming, "I beat the game in 5 hours!!!" like it's an e-penis contest or something while I'm just sitting there thinking what fools they are for depriving themselves of a lot of hours of gameplay and a lot fun. WelcomeToLibertyCity
I just got the game this afternoon and I'm wondering how do you change your clothes? I looked in NYC but there's nothing... Do I have to go to a different place?

Yeah i'm with you on that one, I always take my time on games just to make it more of a complete prolonged experience. Always annoys me when people rush through it as fast as they can then say "wtf? bit short?" Play the game, man.

Zach
Doesn't seem to be a way, but to be honest, that isn't something I would expect of a game. It would be funny, though. Create an "Attack of the Clones" scenario and wreak havoc on New York city with Dominic and his band of Mini-Me's.

Lol beleive me I don't rush through games. Matter of fact I hardly even beat the majority of my games because I get bored after a while and move on to a different game lol. But I guarantee you can't name 15 games that have released this gen that are in the 20-30 hour range and not be a RPG or free roam game. 10-15 hours is the sweetspot for games now a days. Oh, that's an easy challenge. Here you go: Now Shipping. That's easily 70-100 after subtracting out the RPGs, bombs (which I might not have played), and "Dream Barbie" type games (which I never played so can't comment on). There's a big problem with that question because most games nowadays (that are not RPG or Sandbox) are created with multiplayer in mind so that is where a big chunk of the gameplay is at. The only gaming category that I'd say would fit your criteria would be real time or turn based strategy games. And even then one must account for play style. I mean, a person could waste 20 hours or so on Galactic Civilizations II or Sins of a Solar Empire or Spore or Sims (placing that in the RTS category) and hardly scratch the surface. Also, I could meet your challenge if I wanted, but I don't wish to have to go through and look up games like I've stated before. PS: Obviously if one includes multiplayer hours, your number is blasted out of the water. Zach
Yeah, so far, that's my only complaint about this game. When the guys above (a few pages back) talked about how small the city was, they weren't kidding! In terms of GTA IV so you guys can get a perspective, NYC in GF2 is about half the size of Bohan (or whatever that island is called where your 2nd safehouse is at). Zach
Well, I'm being to think NYC is really just a tutorial map. Miami looks a lot bigger according to the maps I've seen, and I'm not sure about Cuba. Of course, by "a lot" bigger I just mean all of Bohan instead of just half. No when I talked about most games now are in the 10-15 hour range I'm talking about to complete the major storyline. Not multiplayer or RPGs or Sandbox games. RE 5(10-12 hours), Bioshock(10-15 hours) Killzone 2(10-15 hours) MGS 4(the actual gameplay not including cinematics is around 12 hours). Most AAA games now are in that 10-15 hour range with the few exceptions for most RPGs and some Sandbox games like GTA. I think Mercs 2 for instance was around 12 hours to complete the main storyline but I never finished the game because it was so buggy. This doesn't include multiplayer or anything similar.
