Saggy
I've upgraded my computer recently, and I'm looking at giving my old system board to a friend so he can finally get on the dual-core track. Hardware: ASUS M2NPV-VM Motherboard AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ 65 Watt NVIDIA GeForce 6200 LE 1 Modules of DDR2 PC3200 RAM 3 IDE 7200 RPM hard-drives 1 SATA 1 TB Hardrive 1 LITE-ON DVD Combo drive It's not a very intensive system, but the only spare parts I don't have is a power supply, and his is only 330 watts. According to this site, he's just right under the power requirements. http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine One thing I've wondered, how much power does the video card require? The onboard video is exactly the same as the video card, so I'm wondering if the power is not enough, if using onboard sound will be sufficient. Girish
For that video card, it is recommended to have a power supply of 350W or higher. Somewhere in the range of 400W to 450W should suffice imo.
Picolini
If he doesn't have the cash for a PSU right now, he can always put the 6200 on the side until he can afford a stronger PSU. Personally I wouldn't go out of my way to get a PSU for a 6200. I'd probably try and save up for a stronger PSU and a new, cheap, lower end GPU that still performs well (9600GT).
