tuareg
Several years ago some silly c*nts wanted to take my phone, wich i didn't have with me. Then after seeing that they wont get anything out of me they just went off. Pretty cool, because the same two mugged one of my friends the next day, stole his money, phone, held a knife to his neck and such. Of course they got caught because the guy's dad worked at the army and had connections. Haha. They're likely still enjoying jailage. But anyway, just because someone carries a knife it wont make them leathal. Period. I'm not the one to say any sad f*cker could dodge a knife of course. And obviously the worst move you could make is the first move itself. If the moment you're in the situation and you start the bigman bullsh*t you're up for some good stabbing. But i'll stop right there.
DC93
I really don't feel afraid of people very much. While I'm not a tall guy, 5' 7 or 8" tall, I weight a good 300lbs. I'm told I carry it well and can look pretty intimidating when I've got just a blank face on. I think that helps people stay away from me. I'm not in an incredibly dangerous area, but it's not too safe. Plenty of gang activity and sh*t. I just know where I can and can't go. But really, even if I walked through the worst part of town (where I lived for about a year, actually) I wouldn't get any trouble. When I know I'm in a bad situation I flex up, show I'm ready for anything, and keep my awareness up for sudden attacks. Kick to the balls, it's what it's all about. Even if it's a group of 5 guys and they see you completely annihilate their friends nut sack as he approaches you they'll usually feel worried about theirs and back the f*ck off. I try to keep my mind set on intimidation, really. You scare the sh*t out of them, they won't f*ck with you. I would not like to get into a fight with you. What you said though was spot on imo. autotheftisgrand
Of course they got caught because the guy's dad worked at the army and had connections. Haha. They're likely still enjoying jailage. Of course if the guy was heartless. He would have placed a hit with those army connections. OT: Never been mugged. People in the Philippines have pretty small stature. I'm 6'0, which is an accomplishment. I live in a pretty pretty bad neighborhood. Just last month a prick tried to get my cellphone while I was going to ride the bus. Instinct took over and I elbowed him in the head. I ran into the bus and when I looked back, the guy was running with a bloody nose and with a look of shocked. Most muggers here are much more smaller than me, so in my opinion the guy was doing a flight/fight reaction. He was like 5'6 or something. Edit: I'm actually proud of those who got mugged who just gave their stuff. It's much more difficult to calm yourself in a situation than retaliating to the opponent. baptiste
Im enjoying the irony of your username and member title. Not helping. Seriously, I got punched, had my phone stolen, etc... And I've had that member title for a year now... Maybe I should change it to 'OH NO can be an asshole' Don't be so pissy, sh*t like this happens all the time so don't act like you're the only one, I know it's traumatic and makes you feel extremely insecure but use and experience like this and learn from it. I have only ever been mugged once. I was 14 and some c*nts took £10 off me. Since then I've never allowed my self to be humiliated like that again. If someone has tried to mug me since you stand up like a man and tell them to f*ck off or you go down fighting. It's gotten me in some trouble, I was almost stabbed when I was 15 but in my opinion is it better to go away with a black eye and your self respect than to lose your things and your pride. So, rather than whine about it let it be a lesson to you and a reminder that you should man up. I'm sorry but I completely disagree with you. If it was a fair fight, I would totally agree with you, but when you get mugged, there's usually 4 or 5 of them and they are usually armed. When sh*t goes down would you rather be a "pussy" and be alive or end up dead on the sidewalk with you're pride? Anyway, I've been mugged before, twice, I stood my ground once because he was alone and I walked away fast. Except the second time he came back, with friends. I just gave up my sh*t and got slapped around. I don't know what would have happened had I stood my ground there. EDIT: Crap, Mark beat me there, I really have to start reading everything before I post.
Hart
I've nearly been mugged once a couple of years ago. It's sort of the norm round here. He was one of those chavs who thinks hes solid, and he pushed me and asked how much money I had. I ignored him but he kept persisting so I told him to f*ck off, so he hit me. I hit him back so he pushed me saying "What the f*ck you doin' mate?" and walked off.

HolyGrenadeFrenzy
In addition to Sag's statements I would like to add the following. !.) When you leave home, mostly for larger cities, break up any cash you have into multiple locations and never demonstrate them to people until you are actually spending it. Do so only by pulling it out at the moment of exchange and only the amount to be spent is accessed, without the jibba jabba about how smart you are or some BS like that since you picked up the little hint from a message board. Seriously, out of sight/out of mind is often a success......leave a 5 or 10 dollar bill in your wallet, though.......some larger cities will shoot you for being broke and in some places, like New York and several others, it is customary to carry two wallets just in case. (That is right, one of the wallets is just to pay off the muggers) Well, there you go, that's it for the street wise today. I haven't been mugged successfully since I was 10 (rough area) but I have had several attempts including one at high school in Illinois.......I found that situation rather hilarious, myself. That's just retarded. If you really think that way, its pathetic. Its not about acting all "tough" any idiot out there, can care less how big you are. I never said act touch. I said take responsibility for your own being. If you decide to never work out at the gym then of course it's you're own fault, and you're going to have to pay for the consequences. I agree that it seems obvious but then again it seems obvious to me to not carry all the money on you in one location......and leave what you don't require at home! .....But then again, I have seen what has happened to some unsuspecting people who get beat down for a pair of shoes.....and in some cities for a freaking cap. This way, only complete utter heroic idiots will actually dare trying to rob someone, and they are probably those who are ready to get shot to death or shoot someone else to death and go inside for life (which as far as I know are pretty rare with opportunistic robbers). There is an old saying in several of the cities/townships with the lowest crime rate on the east coast area whom require citizens be close to firearms they own and that every citizen is techically armed in some way. "An armed society is a polite society" None the less......it works. Oh, yeah....live free or die!
Struff Bunstridge
Tell me how it would perpetuate the problem? Er, because everyone would be carrying guns, thus making is statistically more likely that said guns will be used, either to injure, or to kill. Dude, I wouldn't trust half the people I see on street to f*cking dress themsleves properly, never mind wield a firearm responsibly. Do you really think there aren't people who would take advantage of that situation? Really?

Do you really think there aren't people who would take advantage of that situation? Really? Of course there are, but what's the point in pulling a gun? To get a Mexican standoff and be forced to surrender by other gun carriers? Yeah. Do you also think that if heroin was legalized tomorrow, everyone would turn into a junkie? I'd put my money on a slight statistical increase after which we'll see a pretty rough incline, and oh yeah let's not forget that all drug cartels will be driven out of business and crime will go down in drug ridden areas.
Struff Bunstridge
Yeah, cos guns and heroin are the same thing, aren't they? I don't think everyone would become a junkie, but nor do I believe the number of regular users would do anything other than increase significantly. The 'point' of pulling a gun would simply be that you could end a dispute before your opponent had the opportunity to. In what world do you envisage an increase in the number of guns on the street leading to a decrease in their use? Seriously, where do you live? Is there any violent crime there at all? I'm not saying I can explain the logic behind people carrying guns, because I don't understand it in the first place, but as far as I'm concerned, you're very naive if you think giving everyone a gun is going to transform everyone into law abiding citizens. To be honest, this would work better in D&D, rather than ballsing up this guy's topic.
EmSixTeen
Eddie and Royal Criminal, both idiots for completely different reasons. Well done, Mark. Got the right attitude on that one. I'm sorry, but let me ask; have you ever been mugged? It's natural not to want to give all your things away to some lifeless sh*t you don't know. But I'm not as dumb as Eddie, if they flashed a knife I would give them everything they wanted. I've been in a situation, I still think it's stupid to put up a fight. I'd rather live to buy another phone than end up dead. As for knives...round here, anyone doing any mugging would more than likely have one on them. They may not show it at 1st but if you push em to using it by putting up a decent fight most wouldn't hesitate to use it if you've just smacked em one. You might not even get the chance to surrender. That goes back to the whole "two wallets" thing someone mentioned earlier. Sounds fine, as long as you remember which is which. Also, depending on how secluded the venue for the mugging is, you're quite likely to just get hit and then have your pockets rifled, negating the advantage hiding your stuff gives you.
