Here is the Truth,

Microsoft knew this was coming, there was just not enough space for the next GTA on a DVD Disk and this is a huge blow for them, so they had to give the impression to Gamers that Microsoft were definately sticking around for all future GTA titles and they done this well with xbox multiplayer weekend, DLC and xbox gta adverts at a good price.

But they knew what was coming, so to go down with dignity and with their head held high, they might as well show the temporal benefits of having a 360 with GTA4 and all these freebies, so if I owned a 360, it would make me think 'Woah, since I own a 360 that means were definitely getting the next GTA and we're rockstars favorite console since we get all these benifits'

WOW! Here comes Mr. Blu Ray with his huge 40-60gb disk capacity just for the PS3, there's NO WAY Sony would give Blu Ray and even the bosses of 360 say theres 'no plans for blu ray add on'. So obviously, they are relying on a Brain Wave for the next console, PS3 have a HUGE life expectancy, compared to 360.

" OK, thanks for telling me how usless Microsoft is, what you thinks going to happen then??"...

So, this is what I think probably will happen, OK - The next GTA is going to be a slight PS3 exclusive, but 360 will get either a remake on the same game, or something different totally.

Think of it as Midnight Club: LA created by Rockstar, you have the original version for all the main consoles (PS3, 360 etc) but there is an LA Remix for the PSP, just as good, but cut down.

I'm trying to think what else would save Microsoft from going down this route such as downloading parts of the game through Live, this sounds good but cannot be done due to Bandwith Limits and sore overcharges from ISP's.

You could have GTA on several disks for 360 but then thats would be a MAJOR embarrassment, imagine in 2010 when you're playing GTA on you're huge 60" bedroom OLED TV and it asks you 'Please insert Disk 4', its just not a pratical idea.

So what do you think?? I'm up for some negative feedback as I'm sure some people wont agree and some people might but I've 'made my mark' and everyone has an opinion.

Cheers.

I heard once that if GTA IV was exclusive to the PS3 then it would've been much better and powerful due to how much space the blu ray discs hold. I think that you might be right about the reason they bought the DLC and everthing else.

But 360 owners are actually lucky to have DLC at the moment so they have some advantages.

Your post is so full of inaccuracies it isn't even funny. You do realise that Sony doesn't OWN blu-ray ? Sony is part of the blu-ray consortium that does not give them control of blu-ray. If Microsoft wished to produce a blu-ray based console or a blu-ray addon to their console in reality there would be very little Sony could do to stop it.

As to a future console it is becoming clear that physical media is simply not up to the job, be it blu-ray, purple-ray or god damn multi-coloured dreamcoat-ray. This is why MS is on the fence about what format to put in their next console. The demand for bandwidth for all those pretty explosions you people want cannot be met with any current optical media. This means any next console after this will have a substantial "install" system.

I see your bias there when you say the PS3 will get GTA exclusively erm why ? Is it because the PS3 is technologically supeior ? Oh no wait the most technologically superior GTA 4 is due out in a week on the PC and to quote a previewer "the PC version makes the console version look outdated". There is absolutely ZERO reason for Rockstar to kill off 5 - 7 million customers (xbox and PC added together) just to please some wankfest fantasy for PS3 owners.

Finally if you believe GTA will ever need more than two discs then you need your head seeing too. The previous GTA's never maxxed out a single layer DVD. There are ways around the dvd problem that MS and Rockstar will explore but to right it off just because you are a blatant Sony fanboy is just plain ridiculous.

Ah, hurt ur feelings I see, well let me reply to some of you're points.

There is no way you can even say that PC counts as a console, yeh after you spend time pimping it out it may be better but its a PS3 vs 360 Race and PC is just there for the sake of it.

Well I've got proof from the 'Horses Mouth' that Microsoft have no plans for Blu Ray - http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/a89966/...ox-blu-ray.html

'There are ways around...' Hmm, maybe there are ways but its the time and brains what delays these things, when the future is already here for Sony and Microsoft are still waiting for their future.

You've got to use some common sence as well, people dont prefer playing games on PC's, yeh maybe YOU do and millions more but the ratio is pretty much 1:6, PC:Console.

Finally, I see you failed to note the sarcasm when I was talking about games using more than 1 disk and you also say '...previous GTA's', yeh exactly, PREVIOUS, we're talking about the FUTURE, every GTA is suppose to be better than the other, like we see this huge step from SA to GTA4. Now we're saying GTA4 -> GTA5, even better and there are some weak points for 360 that could pull its leg out of the race, but it probably wont if microsoft get their cheque book out.

Lmfao , that must be the dumbest thing i've heard today.

and hell , who the f*ck cares if it's an exclusive ????

some no-lifers might be happy and say "yea , f*ck you microsoft".

and another dumb thing i saw in your post was "please insert disc 4".

what point are you trying to make?

i'm sure they are going to make disc capable of MORE space , hell.

I hate how PS3 users try to make it seem like their console is goign to rein over all in the end with their blu-ray. Can't you guys just stop and let R* make games for both of us to be happy with? God everything on here seems to be a competition. Now I know Xbox 360 users aren't exactly nice all the time and I do feel bad we get advantages with GTA IV DLC over PS3. If I was making the decision, DLC would be for everyone. But I'm only a teenager and I don't work for R* games. But also I'd like to add that PS3 owners seem to neglect in these "PS3 Exclusive" topics that you guys had GTA to your seleves for quite awhile back in the GTA III era! So in conclusion why don't we stop arguing over GTA being exclusive to one console and let PS, Xbox, and PC users all have the series to enjoy.

This man has the idea.

I have to agree with Charlie. Stop being such a stupid little PS3 fanboy, and trying to make it sound like the PS3 is so much better then Xbox 360, or PC. In the end, what does it matter? Your all gonna get to play the game one way or another.

As for your original post, pure bullsh*t. Mabee Blue Ray can hole more then a DVD, I really don't know and quite frankly don't care, but if for some reason the next GTA can't fit onto a DVD for the 360, or for PC, they will go back to the drawing board and most likely create something that will be better then Blue Ray. Hell, knowing Microsoft, it's probably already in the works.

Ah, hurt ur feelings I see, well let me reply to some of you're points.

No you didn't hurt my feelings I happen to think both consoles are pretty sh*t myself biggrin.gif But then I have been at this for 20 years and I use my brain and evaluate things rather than jerk one off to Sony.

There is no way you can even say that PC counts as a console, yeh after you spend time pimping it out it may be better but its a PS3 vs 360 Race and PC is just there for the sake of it.

I would never even dare degrade the PC by calling it a console. The fact is the PC is getting the superior version of the game. Now if the PS3 was as so uber wonderfully fantastic and whizz bang as you fanboys seem to think, why isn't the PS3 version superior ? In fact why does the PS3 version run in a lower resolution than the 360 version ? Oh and why does the PS3 version have to install a sh*t load of the game to the hard disc before it runs ? The facts speak for themselves the PS3 is as "good" as the 360, nothing more and nothing less yet you fanboys refuse to accept it.

Well I've got proof from the 'Horses Mouth' that Microsoft have no plans for Blu Ray - http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/a89966/...ox-blu-ray.html

I never for a second said MS would use blu-ray, I did say it wasn't because Sony is stopping them which is what you implied. The 360 is over half way through it's life cycle already and it would be stupid to introduce another media technology now. The 360 will probably be the last MS console that uses DVD, in fact it may even be the last console that uses an optical media altogether simply because optical media is not up to the job.

'There are ways around...' Hmm, maybe there are ways but its the time and brains what delays these things, when the future is already here for Sony and Microsoft are still waiting for their future.

You mean the futureproof PS3 that uses outdated 3 year old PC tech that most PC gamers wouldn't touch with a barge pole ? The fact is your precious PS3 was outdated a year before it even hit the marketplace. Yet we still get idiots like you proclaiming the PS3 is futureproof, IT ISN'T get used to it. There are still severe problems with programming the PS3 that will never go away as much as you probably like to think they will.

Neither console is perfect and they both have severe weaknesses, the difference is Xbox users accept this and trust the companies will find work arounds, whereas PS3 users have their head so far up their arse they haven't seen daylight for months.

You've got to use some common sence as well, people dont prefer playing games on PC's, yeh maybe YOU do and millions more but the ratio is pretty much 1:6, PC:Console.

Please can I have some proof of that ratio ? Because last time I checked there were at least 10 million subscribers to WoW and then there were 15 million users on Steam. There are also nearly 60 million Dx10 capable PC's out there so I find it hard to believe your ratio of 6 console gamers to every 1 pc gamer

Yes previous games did get bigger but NONE used the full capacity of a dual layer dvd disc. Yet here you are proclaiming that GTA will eventually use the full capacity of a blu-ray disc. I don't doubt that future GTA's will be bigger than GTA 4 and there will need to be some mechanism in place for the 360 to be able to cope, just like there is a mechanism at the moment for developers to get around the slow blu-ray drive speed. Oh and the next GTA will not be GTA 5 it will most likely be GTA 4.2 - yet another city. If Rockstar stick to tradition GTA 5 will not be seen on this generation of consoles.

At least CC can use his brain for logical thinking..

Just wanted to add my 2 cents: IMO, these plastic toys (I happen to own an X360, so I know what I'm talking about) are just becoming bigger and more unstable. Did you hear that most of these consoles are overheating? Yep, that's mainly because Microsoft and Sony are trying to make a platform, which is of course smaller than a PC in size, but more dangerous. I guess you don't really have to say anything about this, because it's the truth.

Although they were (in the year of PS2) useful, I don't think we are getting anywhere with consoles.. they are just holding back game developers, to bring extremely detailed games to hardcore gamers smile.gif

Basicly... Microsoft and Sony is now trying to get rid of streaming and overheating problems, which will cause a bigger size, and more time to install games on your hard drive, in your console. Let's just think about it for a second... do I want a little toy, with pretty annoying controls (remember, if you buy a Keyboard and Mouse for your console, it makes even more similar to a personal computer) and overheating problems, or I want a PC which is good enough for running programs, listening to music, and playing games?

The way I see it.. these things are just PCs, with a different name. We'll reach a point, when there'll be NO difference at all, between each.. not even in price. Just look a the PS3! I could have bought a much better computer when it came out, for it's price.

And I haven't been talking about Vista's tray n play functionality, which were originally planned, but cut from the final release. If they keep it, then there's no point of your so-called "Computer Entertainment System" stuff. dozingoff.gif

bah, blue ray. sure it can hold lots of room but that extra room isn't needed. i don't see a blue ray DVD holding a 40gb movie or game anytime within the next 10 years at least.

as for games, than the bigger the game map is doesn't necessarily make it a better and more enjoyable game. And im with WelcomeToLibertyCity.

before you say

"MGS4 used a whole Blu-Ray" as part of of your argument for Blu-Ray.

Yes it did use about the 50GB's that was on offer though only 8GB of that was an actual game, the rest was massive 1080P cutscenes which could have all of been done in about 400MB of code if they were realtime rendered.

It's why MS pushed so hard for exclusive-"ality". They know about the potential of GTA and R* - for the PS3 to have a better, bigger, more detailed, or (in anyway) superior version of the game would severely dampen the 360's rep. and it's fanboy's enthusiasm...

It is and was a last ditch effort to use the phrase "put your money where your mouth is" and hope that R* had a price of purchase. Apparently, we see how that worked.

It's nice to have the clone in it's entirety on all 3 systems, but to imagine that the game could have had two superior versions if MS hadn't hindered the development with mounds of cash, is kinda sad imo. Choking the game for their own greed of sales, money and "be-all" reputation.

Seems a bit anti-progressive, insecure and clutch to slay and laugh at blu-ray; be it they didn't build the technology, nor give their loyal gamers a potential extension to their box's longevity. M2C.

And do you think if they develop the next GTA to be a PS3 exclusive (Which isn't going to happen, since every main part of the series made as a multiplatform game) it will be more enhanced than what a PC or an X360 could offer?

Just to let you know, that's wrong... Of course, the PS3 is better than Microbuck's little plastic toy, but if you compare it to a PC, then you'll see it's waaaay behind current-gen hardwares. Not being a dick.. I agree consoles can cost less (Although I can get a better PC than what a PS3 could offer for less money), but you can't ignore the fact, these consoles are outdated now. dozingoff.gif

couple of points here:

1. alot of people, including myself prefer consoles other pc as you can sit in yor bed and play wireless on your 42" plasma

2. game pads just have a better feeling then keyboards and mice

3. ps3's are basicly a computer (360 is close)

4. when you got mates round it way funner to gather round the TV and play then pc

Dont get me wrong I play ps3 and pc, but I prefer to leave the pc for things like C.O.D and CS

The way I see it, (not being a fanboy) ps3 is the current superior technology, I meen liek spend au$600 and you have a complete ps3 system ready to play all you need is a game, same with 360,, but pc you have install all these extra components, then you get the laggggggg , and your stick with a 15" monitor, I think PC's should be reserved for music and porn, although my PS3 holds alot of music and porn

people should be instantly banned for making topics like this... jesus christ... i mean why do you bother? Everyone needs to just make their own choices and be happy with them. If you MUST buy only Microsoft products do it... if you CAN'T buy anything but Sony, then do that. But the whole taking everything so personally is ridiculous. The xbox got the DLC... the PS3 has the blu-ray... whatever, who cares? Either pick which one you want most, or get both. The whole, "Microsoft gets DLC so I'm gunna make a topic bragging about the capabilities of the PS3 to make myself feel better" thing is moronic. As is, "Blu-Ray beat out HD DVD.... I'm going to make a topic about how great xbox is because it sells more and gets the GTA DLC to make myself feel like I'm the best." It's just retarded. GROW UP. I mean you write in this way like, "You have 360 so next gen you're going to be screwed!" Next gen I'll buy whatever console I damn well please. Christ.

You people just made me relize why i will NEVER buy a f*cking console, there's too much disadvantages to buying them. Yes, the PS3 has a blu-ray player but that will be cheap enough to place in a pc in a couple of years. The xbox 360, well, its basically an overclocked X3 Phenom in a small package.

Even powerful PCs are starting to become cheaper to build. Not to mention the biggest hdd for the x360 is only 120GB. Although the PC version of GTA IV needs serious fixing

I am not a fan boy myself, I wanted a PS3, got an Elite 360. I got a red ring of death on the 360! My friend's HDD corrupted on his PS3. So I think last-gen's consoles were great. My PS2 is still working! It's even the fat one! My 360 died in a year! So I think the consoles need to be tested through a whole year before a release so they can fix this problem. I just needed to say something because this topic will be locked soon enough! I guarantee this!

Lol... these topics are retarded as we ALL know that PC gamers are the gaming master race biggrin.gif Lol

But seriously... it all comes down to 'get what you want and deal with your decision'. If you picked 360 you get DLC but no Blu Ray player for.... a bit more storage. If you picked PS3 you'll get a blu ray player and apparently get exclusivity to the next GTA title... *silence and crickets* And if you picked PC you get a video editor but the constant need to tweak your system and the game to get it right.

Just when GTAV comes out lets all petition for an equality vote! All versions come out at the same time with no strings attached in front of each console to tempt people. So no DLC just for 360, no Video Editor just for PC and no PS3 fanboys acting like retards!!!!!11!!1!

Little Big Planet takes up a 40GB blu-ray disc.

Holy Sheet!

Now, you'd need a septuple layer Blu-Ray disc for GTA NeXt, if it has the same texture quality, model quality and effects quality.

I still hope it's on Xbox 360.
