The BigSlick
Hey guys. Firstly, even if you dont know how to play poker. You can post your views on how to control my frustration and get my confidence up. Basicaly, I get very frustrated easily, and it completely blows my confidence. I will give you guys a few examples of some of my bad beats in online poker. This past two weeks on pokerstars has been the WORST in my poker playing life. Here are a FEW examples of the past couple of weeks. .I have quite a healthy stack. I look at A K suited. Some prick goes all in and everyone folds. I make the call. He has 2-2. I flop a flush. A Jack is on the flop. Turn is a Jack. River is a 2. He makes a full house. .Next hand I have 8-8, im lowstacked majority of the table fold. I move all in. A 10 calls. 10 on the river. . This happened the other night. I have A J suited. A guy with 5-5 makes the move all in. I call. I hit a Jack on the flop. Now im honestly not even happy, I just know a 5 is gonna come on the damn river. And im horrificaly right. The 5 does come on the river. Im so frustrated I just switch of my pc and go to bed. . This has been the story for the past two weeks. People going all in with ridiculous hands and beating me on the river. The other day I had Ace-Ace. Pocket Rockets the most powerfull hand in poker. A dum, f*cking prick goes all in with A-3. 7-5-6 come up. The only card that he can win with is a 4, to make his straight (or running 3's). Minmal cards can help him. What does he get on the river? You guessed it. 4 These are a few examples. Another example would be me flopping a straight, and some guy gets running diamonds on the turn and river to make a king high flush. Running cards has f*cked me up so bad. My confidence has gone down to zilch. When I play a game pf poker I literaly have no confidence. I join a game, knowing im going to lose by bad beats, and im ALWAYS right. I think im a good poker player, but this has been so frustrating. Some divine force just hates me. I have been banned from speaking for like 2 weeks on pokerstars because I vent my frustration. I got rivered so badly about half n hour ago. It was the last draw, I was f'in and blinding, smacking the table, and nearly threw up because it was just unbelivable. The odds of getting a Royal Flush must be greater than how much I have been rivered the past 2 weeks. Its shocking how im beaten to the last cards, or two running cards on the turn and river. This was in real life. We were heads up. I had k-9. I hit trips on the flop. The guy im playing, had 9-2. He moved all in, I called. His 9-2 is suited in hearts. Only one heart is on the flop. He will need running hearts or a 2 to win. Running hearts- turn and river.. How on earth do you guys keep this all in? Have you guys been this unlucky before in poker? Im starting to think online poker is rigged. Surely this cant happen as much as it is happening. Is there any way to calm my anger and get my confidence up so I can start winning games again? Now im not boasting but I can not remember runs when I have been very lucky. I win my games with skill. In my first pokerstars game, I joined a 45 man and won the hole thing, then came 8th out of 2100 people. I got a mixture of cards and I played them right and bluffed and folded when I had to. But now, im just getting rivered like a bitch. How can I control my anger and frustration guys? What do you do, to calm you down and get your confidence uo? Much appreciated
GSXRSpeed
If you have little patience, or cannot handle the agony of runner runner, or seeing the one outer hit the river, poker is not for you. I've played poker for about 8 years now, on and offline. I've never been super good, but good enough to stay a little in the green. Lately I haven't been playing either because I ran into a horrible string of bad luck which crushed my confidence. Poker is a cruel game and not for the weak of heart. Did you watch the WSOP? Some of the rivers they showed were horrific. All I can tell you is if you really think you're good, stick it out and keep making the right decisions at the table. Statistics say you will eventually come out on top.
Creed Bratton
Poker is not for everyone. You need to stay cool and focused no matter what. You have to look dead!
fuckindumass
Welcome to the world of gambling. Know anybody who's raised a family working as a gambler? Know any agencies that hire skilled gamblers at a nice salary? If you learn a game well enough to not make bad decisions, then the odds for that game apply to you. And the odds are never in your favor. Enjoy a winning streak when you get one, and don't spend money you need on a losing streak. If you want to know how to get rich gambling, there's no secret. Just become a casino owner. I think moving out of the country to be an internet bookie fails these days, they track you down and jail you anyway. Seachmall
Well I haven't played online in quite some time but when I did it was either for free or pennies so I can't say I ever got too frustrated. I do find listening to music helps though when I get pissed in general and when your playing online there shouldn't be a problem with doing just that. When playing with mates for fun (rarely ever do for cash) well, lets just say I rarely lose... P.S. Before anyone points them out that video is a couple of years old and my push-throughs have since improved

Poker is a little bit different than pulling a slot machine or playing roulette. It is a game of skill, and if you play well the odds are in your favor. This doesn't mean you can't be unlucky and have a bad run. But statistically if you play right you will win in the long run. Why do you think the same top pros are usually at the final table or winning big poker events. It isn't because they are consistantly lucky. Warplay3r
Hey, it's alright. I had a bad streak of poker, well, one time. But eventually it developed and now I'm great at the game. See what is happening each game, and try to improve on it. Don't doubt yourself, but always think, there is a possiblity the person next to you has a greater hand then you do. The thing that sucks about online poker is that you can't see your competitor. Poker players know what I'm talking about here. Don't get frustrated. Online poker is online poker. Don't get yourself so worked up about it. Practice and soon enough you'll be making straights. Don't worry your little head about it.
Runey
Just deal with bad beats because they work both ways.

Don't get frustrated. I find heads-up games so much easier online than in real life. That could be because in real life everything is generally relaxed and having a laugh so noone is giving obvious reads and the subtle ones are too difficult to pick up and hidden by the large movements. Online you can focus on pure strategy and betting patterns, which is always my favourite aspect of poker I think that is why you see more and more online players at final tables, they have the strategy down but the old-schoolers have the psycology and reads down. Of course, online can never compare to real life games when it comes to difficulty and fun.
Fnorg
Poker is not for everyone. You need to stay cool and focused no matter what. You have to look dead! Hah, I crack up as soon as I have a good hand, and when I don't I bluff and hope I'll win. Lost 20 euros to a class mate in poker in Berlin. My folks dunno, I said I bought food, but I still feel guilty.
