Mini*Jamie
99% of times I get disconnected before I see anything. I hear people talking in the lobby, and I get disconnected. Any1 else? MY Router is a NETGEAR DG834
Tradey4Life
I don't know dude, could be a data problem like if you got too many other computers downloading, maybe it boots cause your connection is poor, have a look around in ps3 settings for online play, couldn't hurt
Spuds725
Netgear router is likely your problem-- I have one too (WGR614V5) and while sometimes it does ok, others it drops me constantly-- although 90% of my drops are in the lobby-- very few after a game starts. I just bought a 50' CAT5 off ebay for $12.50 (should be here tomorrow or Wed) and plan on running a wired connection vs wireless... if I still have issues plugged into my router I'll just plug right into the modem-- I played yesterday plugged directly into my modem (moved my modem into the living room) and had no problems at all-- my connection showed as a NAT 1 vs my normal NAT 3 connection when I connect wirelessl-- NAT 1 is the best, NAT 3 is the worst--- you can find this info in your "settings" menu if you play on PS3-- not sure about xbocs Spuds' GTA V 100% Checklist // My IV & Vice City Videos "I want to design a video game where you take care of all the people shot in all the other video games.... MrJohn666
I've noticed that free mode is the hardest to get into, so I have played deathmatches, team deathmatches or NOOSE when I initially go on, this seems to get the connection going, before I dip into a free mode and start being a complete and utter bastard. Are you going straight into free? Try it, I dunno, I might be a total charlatan, but I've had less problems since I changed to this pattern of behaviour. Spuds725
Here is a site that walks you thru how to forward ports on your router for connecting to PSN-- I brought up the page for your router-- it has the default user and password for your router--- if you have changed this then you will have to enter the current user and password.. http://www.portforward.com/english/routers...ion_Network.htm THis is a bit tedious to do.... Before you try the above, try logging onto your router-- see if you and find a UPnP (Universsal Plug and Play) option-- enable this if it isn't already-- this should forward any requested ports automatically. Save the settings and then log off the router. After doing this, go back to the PS3 and do a connection test-- the NAT # will display at the bottom of the display after the test is done- this is found on the PS3 under settings-- at the very bottom "network" Doing this (UPnP enable) last night changed my wireless NAT connection from NAT 3 to NAT 2 -- if you currently have a NAT 3, you should see immediate improvements if it becomes a NAT 2- (I did) assuming you are not limited by your internet connection.
