Digital Murders
I would like to know where you stand as far as ghosts and paranormal activity goes. I'm sure this topic has been done to death but I know I've seen topics on aliens and other "monsters" so to speak. After my experience last night and the lack of sleep I've had, I feel the need to make this topic. First let me start out by saying this. Some of you know that I'm not very religious at all. I was raised Christian but have found that the ridiculousness that is religion just isn't practical. If I would have to associate myself with religion, I would have to say due to my vague belief in karma; I would be Hindu or Buddhist. Call me whatever you'd like. As far as my belief in ghosts. I've always had this sort of skeptsism about it. The brain is such a complex part of our body, which it could just create these images out of fear, depression or just the plain feeling of wanting to believe something is out there. I've had two vivid experiences with ghosts (I'm not saying these were fully fledged ghosts, there are various terms to use, apparitions, paranormal embodiments, ectoplasm etc etc. I will just say ghosts for the sake of keeping it abroad) but I won't go into detail of those experiences for the sake of the length of this already lengthy post. Length. Anyway, my brother and his friend Jay run a paranormal investigation team here in Wisconsin. Shameless advertising Now this is the real deal sh*t, take that however you want. They've spent thousands of dollars on equipment, work with other lesser known teams around the state and have a growing amount of people on their team. Well after my mid-afternoon nap yesterday, my brother calls me and told me that his wife didn't have the motivation to be with WPI anymore, so he asked if I would like to be their new investigator. Since stuff like this has always interested me and considering my past experiences, I told him that I would love to. I've never done anything like this before and it all just had me thinking Ghostbusters on my way to my brothers. I had no idea what the equipment does, what it's all called, what I'm looking for, it was somewhat overwhelming I suppose. Apparently they were celebrating their first, "real" call. WPI usually contacts people and ask if they can come by, or if by word of mouth they heard that there could be a possible haunting somewhere, they would check it out. In this case, someone actually looked them up and asked if we could come to their house. Due to the homeowner’s privacy, we're not to disclose where we went or the name of the house. All I can say was it was near the Rockford, Ill area. The history of the house is that it was built around 1965; it had only one previous owner. This woman who previously owned the house would often wake up in the middle of the night to find this man sitting on the end of her bed watching her. The one thing that was pointed out was the he always seemed to hold a small box of some sort. After she moved out, and the current owner (Kathryn) moved in, this ghost continued to stay in the house. Kathryn has a rather large family, 4 kids, one who is a teen and still lives in the house and her husband. She told us that just about every two years, around November, that her kids as well as she would see this man. The kids refused to sleep upstairs in the room where the previous owner had slept, so Kathryn’s husband built rooms in the basement. As the kids were sleeping, they would wake up to what sounded like someone rummaging through the cabinets in the basement and upon investigating would see this man. The house that they live in is also a vacation home for visitors. There is a German woman staying there now. Apparently she came home one night and walked into the living room and saw the man standing in the living room, near the entrance to the den. She froze and as she saw the man walk away an overwhelming depression came over her and she instantly started crying. Both this German gal and Kathryn have said that this ghost seems to be depressed. When they see him he's slouched and his head hangs a little low. Interesting note before I share my experience. (Finally, I know, long b.s. that you probably won't read anyway) The previous owner had a check sent to the house on accident. Kathryn called her and the woman said she would come by to pick it up. Once the woman got there, Kathryn politely asked her to come in and the woman refused. Kathryn looked at her said something like, "It has something to with what's in this house isn't it?" And apparently this look of distress came over the woman. Now what WPI did last night was split into two teams of three and one of two (My brother and I). This was sort of an internship for me so to speak. I got to learn a little about the equipment, but I was mainly there to first learn how the operation works and how to explain to everyone what was going down. One team of three would go in the basement, the other in the living room/den and lastly my brother and I in the bedroom. Every 45 minutes our groups would meet in the dining room to discuss our experiences and then each team would then switch to a different part of the house. Now for the sake of keeping this post as short as possible, I'm only going to tell you guys what I personally experienced while in the house, because all eight of us had some sort of experience but I'm not going to go into detail. Top floor/Bedroom: Not much activity. Near the end of the first 45 minutes, my brother and I were standing in the master bedroom talking about the house a little bit, just chatting. Suddenly he told me to hold still and not to move. He proceeded to tell me he saw something in the bathroom across the hall, like a shadow moving from one end to the other and into the wall. Now whenever we hear something or think we see a ghost, we try to debunk it right away as to not only calm ourselves, but try to get an understand as to what happened, to get a handle on our surroundings and so that when we go over the hours and hours of tape, video and pictures that we don't spend too much time on it. Anywho, as he explained to me what he saw...which had no explanation other than what he saw was a ghost...he left me in the master bedroom and walked towards the bathroom to show me what he saw. As soon as he stepped into the hallway, everything around me went cold. The EVP meter I was holding spiked. Needless to say, I was giddy with excitement. As soon as my brother heard the EVP meter go off, it died down. That's pretty much the only excitement we had up there. Living room/Den: Nothing happened here for us. Within the first 5 minutes we had technical problems with equipment, which lasted for about 15 minutes, wasting precious time. Some say failure of equipment is a way of the paranormal trying to contact you...or its just technology being a complete failure. I'll go with the failure side of things. Nothing really strange happened with our stuff. The Basement: Now this is some heavy sh*t. My brother wanted to try a little experiment, something he's never done before. He wanted to see if the ghost would speak through him if others would ask questions while he was holding a pen and paper. I thought it was stupid...but whatever. So my brother and I, as well as Jay, headed down into the basement. Now Jay had been down there before, he had no interest in the bedroom, just the living room and basement. The basement is divided into four rooms. Once you go down the stairs you enter the "main" room, off to the left is the laundry room, once in the laundry room, down the hall is a small storage room. After you come down the stairs, to your immediate right is the bedroom where the kids used to stay. Jay and I went into the bedroom while my brother stayed out in the main room. We turned off all our flashlights and equipment, besides the camera and the K2(another fancy ghost detecting device). My brother wanted to sort of get his bearings together and try to "summon" the ghost sort of. I know, this all sounds completely f*cking crazy. After a few minutes, my brother asked Jay and I if we had moved, to which we replied no. We were completely still just waiting until my brother was ready to do this whole question and answer thing. My brother told us he saw something standing in front of him and as soon as he said that, the K2 meter went up to .6 (Anything after .2 is considered paranormal) and Jay and I felt completely cold. The hairs on our body were sticking completely up, like...straight up. Our arms felt like brail...I mean, it was f*cking insane. We radioed Jay's wife so she could come down because she wanted to ask questions as well and wanted to see the experiment for herself. Some creepy stuff happened in that bedroom. We didn't get any answers of course, a couple scribbles on the paper. If you wanted to, you could make out a y. But it was pretty much a bust it seemed. As my brother started to stand up, he said he felt a tug on his leg. Jay bent over to try to see if maybe his pants caught on the chair...and when Jay bent over, behind him in the main room...man, I'm getting chills just typing this out...I saw this shadow, outline of a head. Unfortunately when I told Jay not to move, he f*cking stood up and it was gone. Now I tried to debunk what I saw...and I couldn't. The shadow I saw was a clearly defined head. The shadow was also darker than the shadow Jay was projecting in the main room. Not to mention, where the figure was positioned, there was nothing there or in the room we were in to allow such a shadow to be there. So I immediately got up, took my flashlight and the K2 out into the main room and it was obviously a lot colder in the room. Not to mention the K2 was going f*cking nuts. Readings from .3 to 1.1. Katie, Jay and my brother met me in the main room and started to get readings on the EVP as well. I can't begin to explain what I felt in that room. I mean...just...the overall feeling of my body was just...overwhelming. My chest, throat felt very tight, my skin was clammy and the room was so cold. I've never had such a sensation. I don't want to say I was scared, otherwise I wouldn't have stayed down there...but it just felt like there something in that basement. In fact, I walked into the laundry room and the storage room and I felt perfectly fine. Not to mention it was a hell of a lot warmer. But as soon as I walked back into the main room and the bedroom...that feeling just came over me. Like I said, I can't even describe it. I've never felt something like that. Whatever my brother did with that experiment or whatever we said, I mean, we had to have done something because in every other room of the house I felt nothing. Except for when I was in the master bedroom...but this feeling...isn't even comparable...it was completely different. After our 45 minutes was up, we went upstairs and contemplated wrapping everything as the owners were going to be home soon and we had already been in every room. I and the lead investigator Al wanted to go back in the basement. Despite what I had just experienced, something was drawing me back to the basement. I mean, it was the most activity we had the whole night. So all eight of us decided to go down there and nothing. I felt completely fine, nobody else felt anything. End of story...right? Well, it was about 3a.m. The owners came back and wanted answers...which we really couldn't give because we have to go through all the sh*t we have first. This will take about two weeks or so. We could only tell them what we heard/saw/felt etc. We asked them a few questions, chatted and so on. Well, my brother left the dining room and walked into the living room and went up to the basement door. I looked back and asked him if he was ok and he told me he heard voices, besides the ten of us talking in the dining room. I decided to go join him and I got this feeling of being watched. Like, no matter where I looked, it felt like something was watching me. I walked around the rest of the house to see if I would get this feeling and no. I only got it when I went in the living room/top of the basement stairs. (Both in the same general area) But I didn't hear any whispering or anything that my brother had heard. After about 20 minutes, a few people went outside for a cigarette and started to put all the equipment in the car. My brother and Al stayed in the dining room and talked with Kathryn, getting in final comments/questions what have you. My curiosity got the best of me, so I headed down into the basement one final time....now...this is where I finally got scared. This was just...plain f*cking scary. I feel...scared just typing this out... I went down stairs and stood in the main room....I got the feeling of being watched more than ever down there. It was strong, like someone was right f*cking next to me. I started to look around when I heard talking. Now the only people in the house were me, my brother, Al and Kathryn. Al, Kathryn and my brother were up stairs and you could clearly hear them talking. Everyone else was outside. What I heard...was not them. I stopped looking around and tried to listen more carefully and I heard a distinct "t" and "ch" sound. Like someone said too much, or touch...or something like that. I had enough down there. I mean, just the feeling I had was so f*cking strong, worse than before when the four of us were down there. I mean, it was crazy. So started to go up the stairs and as I was going up there, just like a little kid, I felt like something was coming after me and was coming up the stairs...so I just f*cking bolted. Lights on and everything. And it was worse than when we were investigating with all the lights off. Crazy, eh? You all think I'm nuts. I'm sure. But despite all the terrible feelings I had, this sh*t was really fun. And I'm excited as hell to do another investigation with them. Spread the word, we need more stuff like this. If it's legit or not, we will find out. And it's undeniable that there was something in that house. I'm 98% sure that we will find something whether it be video proof, photographic proof or sound recorded proof. There was something. And I still get freaked out just thinking about it. I know there's a lot of spelling and grammatical errors in here, but to hell if I'm reading this through after I just typed it. I'll sift through it later. Discuss. Seachmall
How much solid evidence have your brothers team, and all the teams he's ever worked with, collected regarding the supernatural? I rest my point.
Digital Murders
How much solid evidence have your brothers team, and all the teams he's ever worked with, collected regarding the supernatural? I rest my point. I would say pretty solid. Like I said, I'm usually pretty skeptical about this stuff. When he first told me that he did this stuff for a hobby, I honestly laughed at him. Then he showed me photos of past investigations and recordings and it was pretty legit. I'm actually going to be leaving for his house in about an hour. As I said before, I'm 98% sure we have something. There is that chance we didn't get anything, of course. I mean, we had 3 camera's, one in each part of the house. That's 2 and a half hours of recording time for each camera. Add it up, that's about 7 and a half hours of footage to look at. 7 and a half hours of audio and hundreds of pictures. Finding this sh*t is f*cking grueling, mundane and just plain f*cking boring. So will I be absolutely pissed if we didn't get anything...yes. But considering this was the most active investigation, according to everyone else on the team, I'm sure we have something.
Rebel
Sounds pretty cool and interesting. I have to say I'm pretty skeptical about this kind of stuff to. But I do watch that show Ghost Adventures I think its called. Just 3 guys who go to places around the US and go investigate. Its a pretty good show most of the time, well the last 2 episodes have been better than others and the one going to be shown looks creepy as hell. Honestly, I'd never want to do something like you did mainly because I'm scared of the dark and get myself freaked out when I know nothing paranormal is going on.
