dinamodanci1986
When I turn on CoD: WaW the screen is just black and nothing happens. My friend lent me the CD and I'm sure nothing is wrong about the CD because the game works on his comp. And my comp passes the minimum requirements for CoD:WaW. This doesn't happen on any other games I have. My comp: CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.00 GHz RAM: 2 GB DDR2 Graphic card: Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS 256 MB OS: Windows XP SP2 Minimum requirements: Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz / AMD 64 3200 Memory: 512MB (XP) / 1GB (VISTA) Graphics Card: 256MB Nvidia 6600GT / ATI Radeon 1600XT or higher Hard Drive: 8GB EDIT: Nevermind, I fixed it. I found the solution here: http://www.gamingnewslink.com/2008/11/11/f...llation-errors/ Edited November 16, 2008 by dinamodanci1986
Hart
Ok, for everyone getting the stupid endless black screen bug, the fix is incredibly simple. Just Alt+Tab out if it to switch to a new screen. Afterwards, Alt+Tab back into it, then hit Esc. The main intro should start right up. It’s worked for me everytime so far. Now I’m not 100% sure this works on XP or not, since I use 32-bit Vista, but I imagine it will. Source From another WaW problem thread. Hope it works. dinamodanci1986
Oh, god dammit, now I have another problem. When I go to Solo and click New game, it asks which difficulty I want to play on, I select Regular, the music stops and the game freezes. @Hart: I did the solution #2 (deleting Treyarch.bik). #1 doesn't seem to work for me. On the aforementioned site I found someone in the comments having the same bug as me (he also deleted Treyarch.bik).

[MenaceMovies]
Many of my friends at school are having trouble creating a new game on COD5. The game has a few bugs and glitches at the moment, but they'll probably be patched soon. Hope for the best
dinamodanci1986
I can't try anything at the moment because I gave the DVD back to my friend immediately after installing the game, and I uninstalled it after giving up after not getting a reply in this thread for quite a long time. I'll ask my friend for the DVD again, then try your solutions. A guy told me on PM that I should install Punkbuster when the setup asks for it (which I didn't do). If that doesn't work then I'll wait for gtathebest4ever to tell me how his friend fixed this, and if it doesn't work too, then I will steal my friend's comp because it works for him. dinamodanci1986
I installed the game again along with PunkBuster but now the game jumps back to menu after choosing the difficulty (it doesn't freeze, it only returns to the menu). I also deleted Treyarch.bik to fix the black screen. Superpowermind had the same problem as me but he has Vista and I have XP. The other solution for the black screen didn't work (alt+tab out of the game, alt+tab back in then press Esc). It appears it only works for Vista. BTW, sorry for the double post. jules99
Could somebody please help: I played COD WAW (solo) finished already but would like to play more, when I start the game it says that it didn't quit properly before (probably due to a crash) and asks me if I want to start in 'safe mode'. Whether I say yes or no it flashes a black screen twice and returns to my normal desktop. The game doesn't start. I have tried the alt + tab thing and deleting Treyark.bik and re-installed the game. My computer does fit the minimum requirements because it already ran the game without any problems. Please help!
