I honestly don't see why 4 has the most votes. It seems to have the least out of alot of them and unless there's more to it then what you get when you click on the link to it I just don't see anything that makes it the #1 so far.

Of course you would say that since you made it but mines is alot better then yours IMO not to metnion I added way more including a real storyline, real series advancements, real details on how things work, details on various criminal orginizations and gangs and mission details. All yours has is.......nothing that really sticks out in my mind. I just don't see anything in yours that makes it #1.

 

I think mines would have gotten more views and the respect it deserved in the more popular The Goal of Complete Freedom thread.

OK, firstly let's not get all bitchy and moaning. The obvious issue is we have a bit too many entrants. Among those 41 around 10 are dead (not updated, closed, users busted). It would be probably a good idea to just sort them into some categories. Like "Direct sequels", "SF storyline", "Big Walls of text" and such.

 

It's quite plausible that a few from the start nad from the back will get most attention. Also, presentation has a lot to do with it. Hence, nice and shiny images with some text - good. Large blocks of text with no images - bad.

Thanks for the compliment, mkey. Nice to know somebody liked it. I'm not that surprised, really. Judging by the amount of hate that's been expressed on these boards for the idea of a female protagonist (see below for my thoughts on that), I knew that a lot of people were not going to like my entry. In my opinion, that's the number one reason why only three people voted for it so far. They just don't want to play as a chick, especially one who's just an ordinary college girl as opposed to a hardened criminal or soldier. Old prejudices die hard, I guess. Cheyenne's largely rural setting (in my estimation, about 80% of the game area is countryside) probably didn't help it in the polls, either. I would've pointed to the sci-fi storyline, as well, but looking at the success of Last Haven, I feel that that didn't have much to do with it. It must be Amanda.

 

Speaking of chicks, I mentioned this in a post on the "Next GTA main character" thread, and I'll mention it here as well. Will anybody care to make something similar to the London Dossier, but in support of the idea of a female protagonist? The amount of hate I've seen for this idea is mostly of the same irrational, knee-jerk variety that circulates around any discussions regarding a London setting (and similar to what it was like when a black man was announced as San Andreas' protagonist). I'd like to see it all get blown away. I'd write this thing myself, but I have finals to study for.

Well, I've been palying games for a while know and there are only two characters on my "biggest crazed psychopath" list. Those two are Tony Montana (shame Scarface turned out to be such a sucky PC port) and the other one is Catalina from SA. I was left amazed how a female character can play such an unpredictable role. Not to mention having a female lead would open some new areas that weren't encountered before.

 

Anyway, I don't think the reason you didn't get many votes is the female role but the mere fact you're berried deep inside the list. I don't think most people looked that far, but only clicked the first/last few links Also, look at how many people voted. Not even 100. With over 40 entrants.
