GTA: Franklin Islands is the best of them all in my opinion. Hell, I'd buy it if it were made.

Think it's only fair to point out, that although i am credited with having worked on 'Last Haven' i actually did bugger all as i was too busy. So 28RedEyedCrows and mkey82 deserve all the credit. Anyway it should win because of the work that has gone into it. It's full of fresh ideas and would make a f*cking kick arse game

Well it took me like ages to go through them all but i rekon number 2, GTA San Mantando is pretty cool

 

You should see the map its huge and has a country, desert and has like...the best features lol

So. . . many. . . ideas! Which one do I vote for? I was originally planning to review them all, but I'll just give you the ones that I liked (and one in particular that I hated).

 

My vote is split between Franklin Islands (entry #4), Cheyenne (#26), and Last Haven (#27). All three are very different entries, but all of them were very engaging and well-made. Franklin Islands feels like a modern-day Vice City, only it's an original setting. It sticks to the new formula set by GTA IV, going for realism and story instead of a large catalogue of features. Last Haven, meanwhile, goes in the opposite direction, featuring a dystopic, somewhat sci-fi world where, outside the cities (all of which have a decidedly unique flavor), people are eking out a living in the vast wastelands. Finally, Cheyenne, while set in modern America, breaks GTA tradition by featuring a female protagonist (the only entry in this contest that dared to do so) and a story that often crosses into science-fiction and horror territory during its second half. It also returns to San Andreas' philosophy of offering tons of side features to provide entertainment long after the story ends. (The fact that I created Cheyenne has absolutely nothing to do with me choosing it. I swear. )

 

Honorable mention goes to Sunstate (#10), Independence City (#16), London 1970 (#28), Sin City (#29), Revolution (#38), and Copperfern (#40). They all had flaws that kept them from greatness, but they all had me intrigued in some way. And a dishonorable mention - what I feel is the worst entry in the contest - goes to Chicago 2010 (#37). Complete and utter dog s***, that one. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if I found out that Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer had written it. San Mantando (#2) is a close second, by sheer virtue of the fact that the names Hannah Montana and Homer Simpson were on the list of characters.
