TheRealPcGamer
Hello I'm new in modding vehicles in GTASA, just now I installed a car, but I still got the GTASA's original name. Can I change the name? How to do that? Does it require some apps or something? Thanks. Oh and if there has been made a topic about this, i'm sorry and please give the link to the topic. Girish
How about the Real Life Vehicle Name mod? However, if you want to change the names manually, I have no idea.
TheRealPcGamer
Owww I have already installed many modded cars here. Is there REALLY no apps for manual editing? Or you just don't know?
Darecki
Use any of the gxt file editors You can find them on gtainside.de for example
TheRealPcGamer
I've found it, but i still don't understand how to use it.
fuckindumass
lol, good luck. I tried a couple gxt editors. I'm left believing they are fake programs. One even came with a help folder that contained a readme w/o anything of use. There's nothing here, and I've spent 90 minutes trying for you, I'm gonna move on..... Suction Testicle Man
Here is an editor by JernejL. Open the .gxt file for the language you are using in the 'text' folder in the SA installation directory (English is 'american.gxt'). Within the file, search for the name of the car you wish to replace - the key will be the gamename (the name shown in vehicles.ide), and the value is the bit you are able to change as you please. Once finished make sure you save, and test your changes in the game If at first you don't succeed, you fail, and the test will be terminated. Threepwood
I suggest to install CLEO, if you don't have already. Its easier and simpler to install and uninstall. Get the latest CLEO at http://cleo.sannybuilder.com and place the GXT plugin in /CLEO. (See the readme!) Once CLEO is installed, which is usefull for different mods btw, make a new txt file, and call it how you like, i.e. names.txt. Open it with any texteditor, and make a new line. Content: CARIDENTIFIER New Carname You can read the identifier in your vehicles.ide, for example the Greenwood, see the 5th entry in its line, it says GREENWO. If you replace that with a BMW, you had to make this line: GREENWO BMW M3 something Easy as that. New car, new line. First the identifier, second the new name, which may contain different special chars as blank, commata, period or else. But I don't know which special chars will work for sure and which not. You may write one word as new name, or more words, take care it does not get TOO long so your complete screen is ful of chars Its important to use the right identifier, and to write it always in capital letters. So greenwo BMW won't work. Don't be afraid of this long text. Once you start, you'll see its just a few clicks. When you have finished your .txt file, close and save and after that: rename it to something.fxt ! You can still open it with any text editor. Place that file in CLEO/CLEO_TEXT/ Et voila, you have custom names for your cars without editing original GXT files.
TheRealPcGamer
Threepwood, do you think I don't understand CLEO? From long time ago I have installed it. And I have tried your way, the result is the vehicle's name didn't show up. But THANKS for your suggestion, Suction Testicle Man. This is the pic when I have installed H2 HUMMER: Now you can lock my topic now. Edited November 18, 2008 by TheRealPcGamer
Threepwood
I never know if one knows or not, so I explain as he would NOT. If he does, no probs. If the names do not show up, you have a) not installed the GXT correctly (gxthook.cleo inside of /CLEO ), or b) not installed the .fxt correctly (inside /CLEO_TEXT ) or c) simply did not write the lines correctly. It works, several modders use that to name cars, tuningparts and even weapons. If it doesn't work for you, you made smth wrong A small example of my names.fxt: URAAUB Spoiler style 1URACUB Spoiler style 2URAASI Mega Bass + NeonURACSI Small Bass + Rollcage### CAR NAMES!# BUCCANE Renault Megane SportTAHOMA Renault Clio V6 SportVINCENT Gallardo HamannELEGANT Gallardo COMET Gallardo Spyder hf, and thanks for being named silly. Appreciate that.
TheRealPcGamer
Owh sorry I didn't read your post carefully. I don't know if I can rename a car using CLEO. I will delete the 'silly' word then. But for me it's too frustating, I'm more comfortable with GXT Editor, altough I have to have the back-up first.
