Dear x Sergio
Someone will probably end up figuring out how to make a disk for each game he has that somehow has the information necessary to only let the xbox know when to boot it up from the HDD. From then on out, he'll just borrow his friend's copy, install it on the HDD, and make a disk for it. Then again, I don't know if that's possible. HA! if that happens MS will feel it big time - they may sell more consoles but they won't be getting as many games sales. I am waiting for someone to be able to crack the PS3 games - now that would be sick.

There's probably a ps3 user out there right now racking up the savings in that manner.
Lord Illicious
Let me start off by saying i mostly only play games that run off the HDD like the PS2 and the partially PS3. I dont like playing on any system that is purely disk based because no matter how good the system it always kills the laser. If this feature is real and works then you can bet i will get a 360 and im a ps3 fanboy. This is what the PS3 and every system needs.

Jackmackg
There is only 1 reason why you would want this. if your dvd gets messed up and can boot but cant play the game and you already have it installed it might help there. like if a part that could not be loaded. The disk still nosy and is spinning. it loads a bit faster but not 6.2 gb faster. and you still get pop ups. it seems to only run as fast as a new xbox dvd drive. crowstwo
There isn't a real improvement in loading and in pop-ups this is mostly BS! Read the benchmarks on the internet, and i can also tell you that i installed the game on hdd and maybe 1second faster loading time when the game boots up. mattsgames
There might not be GTA IV probably used hard drive caching anyway in which it would cache 1gb of data from a DVD rom if it is trying to read data from two seperate parts of the hard drive, one for the installed game and another for the cached data it may actually stream more slowly
gamesguru
I actually think the frame rate and pop-up has got slightly worse . Maybe it's just me, although, the loading times are allot faster. Things is, I was disappointed you still need to keep your disk in at all times (contrary to what all the publications told). I installed it, put the disc in and let it load up, took the disc out and I got taken back to the Dashboard; I was like, you f*cking liars! VickeX
NXE out. Anyways, i did this, and it made the loading times faster, and pupup issues alot worse. In other words - not worth it at all. It's actually BAD. At least that's how it was for me.
GoldenJoel
Ugh, I just installed it, and THERE IS MORE POP UP then ever. I completely regret installing this sh*t. I think I might uninstall, its just a waste of space on my hard drive.
TECHN9CiAN
second time i hear about this... What is "pop in"? and is the game installation an option?(not the nxe, i know that's manditory. I ask because I still haven't downloaded it)

Basically, the environment looks sh*tty, and it gets better after you notice it.
TECHN9CiAN
ooooohhh thanks man. Yeah, I remember dealing with that when I played San Andreas. Whenever I flew a plane, specially with the Hydra, all the buildings would look all crappy, and the trees would pop out of nowhere, killing me on contact. Is the pop-in in GTA IV an occurance only when you're driving/flynig fast, or whenever, even when just wlking?
BioVirus
I installed GTA IV to my HDD and I love it!!! I am very glad with the new xbox experience. It reduced my load times and made my game run smoother, I don't get any jumps at all. Plus, what's even better is the disc is not spinning so it prolongs life of the disc laser reader AND the GTA IV disc.
HeadShotElite
Yep it runs 10x smoother, Try it with Assassins Creed, That runs like a new game. It's awesome

TMR2007
The main loading time was faster for me once I've installed it to my HDD. However, the pop-ins are considerably worse since I did this.

Well, thats what I thought too, but something must not be quite right with the installation which causes more pop-in.
dominguero
It hasn't improved a thing for me. Frame rate seems to drop drastically with a lot of police cars around. It's nowhere near as good for me playing it off the HD as it is playing off the disc. On the whole this new Xbox live dashboard etc has been incredibly crap for me. Don't see how this is any improvement at all. But that's typical for M$.
SaintJimmy
It seems like there are MAJORLY varying experiences. One says pop-in has decreased rapidly, one says there is more - one says game runs smoother, one says game is laggier than ever.
hansssi
I think it has do to with which harddrive you got. When I first installed it on my 20GB HDD I got pop-ups all the time. Then I bought the 120GB HDD and installed it, now it runs smoother than ever...
dantheleedsman
i havnt installed gta4 (coz i stopped playing it aaaages ago!) but ive installed COD5 and fifa 09 and they are much better to play now. load faster, not as many glitches and no sound from the xbox what so ever! Perfect for playing games online. and everything about the new dashboard is good really, just looks and feels a lot better.

Here is a link that explains their reason: http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/19/bungie-j...tall-of-halo-3/ So, perhaps that reason, or something similar to that reason is why GTA IV has more pop up when installed to the HDD. I had installed the game to the HDD along with Midnight Club: LA. I have since un-installed each one, as they didn't perform better for me. I couldn't even drive more than 5 blocks without any texture and pop up issues. It was annoying.

It's awesome i would if my "mate" hadnt theifed my copy shame my 360 HDD is a tiny one and is almost full with demos and saves :'( Me thinks upgrade time :| BTW could the pop up issue (wen installed) be down to the HDD? perhaps the data transfer rate isnt quick enough? BioVirus
In the future, games developers will be aware of HDD install feature. Halo 3 wasn't programmed to run off HDD.

ConnieFR
I have xbox360 and installing it in the hard drive makes it ALOT worse, slow ass loading, texture just loads too long, tress and walls popping up from no where, invisible street (cars looks like they are levitating), etc... I think its my HDD because once I have this red ring of death about my hard drive so I dont know, im deleting it right now.
