The name of the game is simple; a picture is posted and it is your job to write a thousand words telling us a simple story about what is going on in the picture. For example, I may post a picture of a horse in a stable, so you could write a thousand words (or thereabouts) on how "Charlie" the horse is depressing, yearning for freedom. Describe it's habitat, it's diet, how it feels, what it looks like, whatever, just be sure to meet that thousand word limit! How Does It Work, Then? It's quite simple. For this first round, I'll post a picture. It's your job to write your thousand words and I'll read them all. The best one will then be hailed the winner and it's their job to then post a picture. The process is repeated, except it'll be up to all of you to vote for your favourite. The winner... well, wins, and posts his own and so on. Deadlines? I'm not to anal on deadlines at this moment in time as this is only the first round and I'll be choosing the winner this time. If this thing picks up attention, I may consider implementing strict deadlines but until then, don't worry about it too much. If there's any questions, post them here. Depending on how this works, I may just have it so the winner of the previous round chooses the winner of the current round and so on. May work better. Eminence Posted November 15, 2008 Share Posted November 15, 2008 Great to see it up already, and I think you've thought of a good way to work it - it will enable a swift, ongoing tournament, as opposed to something where the winner must be judged. I really, really like this idea. I think the inspiration one can gain simply from looking at a picture is immense - I was struck with many small thoughts as soon as I saw that one. I think this will be an excellent arena in which people going through any form of writer's block will be able to just get something written; really try to get themselves going again without needing that story or adhering to their strict standards - it could be a place of real writing freedom. I think it represents a wealth of possibilities - a real wealth - and can be adapted to suit any genre or style. I don't see how you can look at that picture and not come away thinking of anything! Anyway, this is a bit like the ''Caption the picture topic'' in Gen Chat, only a little more complicated, and enjoyable. Indeed so, hence my comment on how this is similar to PC Gaming as apposed to console gaming. It looks like an interesting topic, I'm intrigued on what pieces will grow from it's humble seed...
