it just got me thinking with the community wanting to make all these mods can you actually use them online because i was under the immpression that GAMES FOR WINDOWS LIVE checks your game to make sure no changes have been made to the game. And if it finds some then it does not allow you to play online.

In other words, no customisation allowed and/or game customisation under 'Games for windows live' is impossible (for other games)?

That would be a bugger, a huge bugger!

in the PC version theres always a way arround the system, as some ppl did whit gtasa and made a multiplayer devil.gif

im relly sure that, if GFWL dont allow players use custom files the some1 will make a online adapter/program/client and servers to play whit an anticheat system.

Wolf says that's because the Xbox 360 environment made it easy to purchase and download things like the Shivering Isles expansion while PC users had to go through several steps to get the same content. For Fallout 3, Games For Windows Live should make downloading and purchasing the planned downloadable content for the game as easy for PC owners as it is for Xbox 360 owners. Wolf would not comment on what other current or future Games For Windows Live games will do for downloadable content. Speaking of which, Wolf told us that having such a feature won't bar third party mod makers from offering their own content for Games for Windows Live titles, although actually distributing those mods via Games For Windows Live has not yet been decided upon.

Dedicated server+l33t hax=certain modded files are allowed/required for a server.

Means a huge bugger... yes it's still possible and people will still make mods, but I hate that the server needs them too and/or you have to download the mods the server is using. Just do the great system of Counter Strike or any source based game.

Allow customisation/mods on client side, but when the modifications are too 'big' and/or change too much important thigns of the game, it becomes server side (which means you need to download it from the server if you don't have it).

Game developers should realise that Counter Strike is still so popular because of the gameplay... but also because you can customise the game...

If the GFWL checks your game before you play, just install the game twice and use the clean version for the mp and the supra modded version for solo game.

This is my opinion:

GFWL games aren't able to modded. So if you have bored with the gameplay or character or sth we just can wait the official mod which is called DLC. And we must pay for that. confused.gif

PC users don't pay for patches. Only Xbox360 users pay for free stuff...

i think he means the little gamerpoints they get for playing the game lol. You have to pay a certain amount of "gamerpoints" to buy stuff that should have been included in the game from the start.

we dont have to pay for everything, Patches for games are always free and done automatically on startup of the game , And a fair bit of the DLC is or can be free for certain periods, Burnout paradise DLC is all free, Testdrive has free downloads as does forza motorsport2. Rainbow sixs map packs have also been free in the past as well as most ubisoft titles coming with exclusive stuff just for linking your e-mail/gamertag with the game your playing.

on the subject of Xbox live we pay 40 pound a month for that service and that lets us play an infinite amount of games over that service, Now there are over 11million PC users that pay more than we do to just play one game online WOW for example. so you cannot say its just console users that have to pay for stuff.

Gamerpoints (GAMERSCORE) are not redeemable for monatary value that is just an added little thing added to games that can make people do everything on hard just to recieve that certain achievment. each game has 1000Gamerpoints on offer and can recieve a =n extra 250gamerpoints via DLC, Arcade games brought from the market place have 200gamerpoints on offer. it is not mandatory to get all the points per game.

MSPOINTS are the credit form used on market place, these point can be brought direct from your console by registering a credit card with the console, Or can be picked up for cash at your local gamestore.

You can't really compare Xbox-Live with Word of Warcraft. Xbox-Live includes tons of games, WoW just one. I think you could better compare it to Steam. You can buy and download tons of games via Steam, there's free DLC (Team Fortress 2 has received 3 new maps, 1 new game mode and 9 new weapons, for example), and what do we have to pay to use Steam? Nothing.

Now a bit ontopic: (tounge.gif)

I really hope Rockstar follows Valve, and releases a SDK. But I don't think they will. It seems to me that they don't really care about their (PC)-userbase, and looking at their past (R* is a company that never really changes their habits, IMO) they have never released an SDK.

But there will always be a way for PC users to mod their games. Always! What happened to San Andreas? It received a patch that blocked modding. What did the community do? They made a patch that could down-grade the game. biggrin.gif

I find it funny that people think the companies decide whether or not their games are moddable or can control how multiplayer works, when there have been tons of instances where it's been done despite what the devs wanted.

===========================

Off the top of my head.

Servers that checked for certain files=can be cracked. Private servers that pirates use for MP prove that checks for modded files can be disabled.

No SDK=GTA SA still had an arseload of mods, GTA 4 has already been modded on the console version, Fallout 3 already has weapon damage mods, ect.

=============================================

As for the people who've never gamed on PCs:

-We get free online play for all our games that have it except MMOs like WoW.

-patches are free.

-our "DLC" is free. Mods are usually hosted on fileplanet/filefront/the game's fansite and we can download them for free. The official DLC sometimes costs money but it's usually little crap that no one wants anyways because it's not outstanding in any way.

-And there's more.
