A Thousand Words?

As they say, a picture's worth a thousand words. No truer words were ever spoken, as I believe you can get this amount easily from any picture of anything. Even if the picture is as bland as Richard & Judy's professional career, you can write one thousand words about any picture in existence. This is why I'm calling on you. What I want you to do as a little freestyle exercise is post your own picture, and one thousand words at least describing it. Anything in the picture. Make it have a history, describe it's colour, anything. The more challenging the picture, the better.

 

Anyone up for it? Purely for fun.

I like this idea a lot. Are we only allowed to describe the picture or can we write a small story inspired by it?

Whatever you choose, providing you don't digress. Your focus must be on the picture.

I think an interesting idea would be for someone to post a picture, then for somebody else to write a thousand words about the picture. It's easy enough for you to find a picture then write about it, if you know what you want to write about and can find a picture that suits the story, but it's twice the challenge if you have to come up with a story and set yourself outside your comfort zone.

You know, that's an excellent idea. We could actually make it sort of an off-shoot of the SSOTM competition, like, the 'Thousand Words a Week' competition. Each week someone could post a picture, and then whoever wishes to can write 1000 words about it and at the end of the week they could be judged. Of course, the competition idea doesn't have to be implemented; could just be one nominated person who writes about it, without a timeframe and it just keeps rolling. Endless possibilities.

I like it, and I don't know why I didn't think of that myself, kudos Kaden! I'm fine with making it a separate competition, I don't mind hosting it. I'd love to, in fact.

Feel free! Think of the exact format it would follow and the rules/specifications and whatnot and go for it, I say. I think it'd be another great thing to have around.

Could it be a story based on the picture, rather than a description?

The way I interpreted it, is that it's the story of the picture. You don't look at it and describe what you can visually see, you look at it and describe what it is showing.
