YOUR GTA IV REVIEW

PLEASE GIVE ALL REVIEWS IN PERCENTAGES LIKE MINE. A 9/10 COULD BE ANYWHERE BETWEEN AN 80% AND 90%.

alright, we've seen all of the reviews and said whether they're right or not. but how would YOU do it?

(i'm taking these ratings from the ps3 versions, but the 360 ones are pretty much identical.)

gamesradar.com: 10/10. 'The highly-anticipated sequel to the carjack-fest of the century is sure to satisfy all your mob and hooker related fantasy. Okay, maybe not ALL your hooker fantasies'

gamefaqs.com: there's a lot of reviews here, but they seem to be mostly 9/10.

Computer and Video Games.com: 10.0/10. 'A masterpiece from both a technical and storyline standpoint. You have not and probably never will play another game quite like it again.'

my review: 88%. an absolutely brilliant game, but after what was hyped and expected, they've let us down in a lot of places. after an unexpectedly soon ending, I was left feeling like soneone had given me an expensive present, destroyed it and kicked me in the bollocks.

I'll try to be as fair, and honest as possible.

GTA IV is a excellent game, but it simply doesn't have that certain "flair" the old GTAs had. I don't know whether it's because it took a different approach or what, but I didn't get the same feeling as I got when I first played GTA III, VC, and SA.

This game would make an incredible FPS given how story driven it is, but as a sandbox game there's simply not enough.

It took me along time to realise the flaws, but I couldn't remain in denial any more.

So much could've been added to the game that wouldn't have compriomised its "realistic", and "gritty" tone it has. I mean yeah fair enough it was R*'s first go at a current gen GTA, but even still I think they focussed too much on sh*t like the Friends/Girlfriends, and stuff like the ATM, Carwash, Binoculars, etc that people don't really care about. When you're outside of missions there's not much you can do that wouldn't get old fast.

I understand they wanted it to be more like GTA III with its "back to basics" type theme, but it doesn't help when the majority of fans were expecting something like SA in terms of content available.

In conclusion I don't think its technical improvements can be shunned upon, but for a sandbox game it is quite weak. I played VCS probably about 2 months ago, and honestly I found it more fun, and something else that drags GTA IV down is the lack of incentive. There's really no point in doing the side missions unless you want more money. I liked getting rewards for doing side missions in the old GTAs. Why did they remove it in GTA IV?

Anyway I still rank it a 9 which is more generous than what most people would give it. Not a sh*t game by any means, but not as great as it could've been.

P.S Sorry if I bored you guys to sh*t with my post.

I think you may have overlooked the review topic wink.gif

yes, but a lot of people can't be bothered reading ALL of that. PLUS i'm asking everyone, not just 100%ers. think of this as a less formal version of that.

@miamivicecity:please give your review as a percentage, a 9/10 means anywhere between an 80% and a 90%. i said this clearly in my first post.

Sorry. Didn't read that part.

In that case as a percentage I would say about 85%.

EDIT: Okay whatever, but you can still describe why you give it that score right?

I'll give GTA IV 90%

PROS:

Very Innovative

Graphically impeccable

Great Story Line

CRAZY Action

CONS:

Soundtrack is WHACK! Im sorry but this GTA's soundtrack is so boring and repetitive.

When I played GTA: Sa and I was in San Fierro cruising to SWV- Im so into you

or in Los Santos Bumpin 187 while I was doing a drive by, or in the desert listening

to K-rose I felt so good. In this GTA I was just listening to the radio because I had nothing else to do.

Or in GTA: VC listening to Hall and Oates - Out of Touch , Michale Jackson - Billie Jean

or Even GTA: LCS listening to Big Pun and Fat Joe - Twinz , or even GTA: VCS - Marvin GAye - sexual healing

Less Comedy

Less Activities

In a nut shell this GTA feels nothing like older GTA's which is good and bad at the same time

65%

As in, on my watch, this game is only 65% complete. You have to take in the fact that there are a lot of features missing, about 35% worth. And the glitches and graphics. I don't like the blurry distance, the artistic effect especially when you zoom in on a far off area with your sniper scope, the trees look like they came from GTA -1 (negative 1!) and buildings look like they came from GTA 3. I also hope they make it so there actually space where their should be space like inside cars. You can't see your bullet holes inside cars if you shoot in there or have something get stuck in there like in saints row. I like it how in saints row you can sometimes get inside the back of a ambulance or inside a bus.
