Braindawg
IF YOU HAVEN'T PASSED THE FOLLOWING GAMES STOP RIGHT HERE GTA 3 GTA: Vice City GTA: San Andreas GTA: Liberty City Stories GTA: Vice City Stories GTA IV ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It actually does! It seems Rockstar Games has nothing new to come up with! That was another thing that disappointing me in GTA IV. Let's see how the storyline goes in all (3D)GTA games: GTA 3: Catlaina is your friend, she betrays you at the very start. You kill her in the final mission. GTA: Vice City: Sorry and Lance are your friends. They betray you in the end. You kill both in the final mission GTA: San Andreas: Big Smoke and Ryder and your friends. They betray the Grove St. family. You kill both through the game, and the final mission. GTA: Liberty City Stories: This is the only GTA so far, where you don't kill a friend who betrays you in the end. Vinnie betrays you, You kill him through the game. In the final mission Toni Cipriani And Don Salvatore Leone take over Liberty City by saving the mayor and making him work for the Leone family. GTA: Vice City Stories: Martinez is your friend. You kill him and the Mendez brothers through the game, and the final mission. GTA IV: GTA IV Was the best GTA so far. It had lots and lots of new fetures. But like every other (3D) GTA. You kill a friend in the final mission. Dimitri Rascalov or Jimmy Pegorino Those two characters can be killed in the end or a bit before the end. As a result of Roman Bellic, the cousin of the main character, Niko Bellic's death, Dimitri Rascalov dies. As a result of Mallorie Bardas-Bellic's, the new wife of Roman Bellic death, Jimmy Pegorino dies. GTA V/NeXt: I hope there will be a different ending. Please comment. Algonquin Assassin
Yeah I'm getting sick of the "Kill your main enemy at the end of the story" cliche. I mean it's cool getting revenge on your foe (s), but the ending of all GTAs from GTA III-GTA IV (Excluding LCS) have been pretty predictable. Especially GTA III. I didn't give it much thought when I first got the game, but now 7 years have passed I can see how insanely predictable the outcome was. For once I would like to see the main foe NOT get killed, and maybe have the ending set as a cliffhanger lining up the first true sequel to a GTA title, in the successing GTA. QwertyAAA
Not everybody is Jesus in Purgatory. Martinez is not your friend. And neither is Dimitri - he's always shown to be a backstabbing bastard. Also, Mallorie never dies. Epic motherf*cking fail. Anyway, you don't get the main point of this. The storyline has to be resolved at some point, in a very climatic scene. How else?
dice
Only the begginings and the neds are the same. The middle part, the reasons, etc ... are always different and fresh
QwertyAAA
OP, would you prefer for the villain to die in the middle of the story and for the last mission to be a random, completely unmemorable one?

Niko didn't get to kill him yet but it will probably be in the sequel or DLC.

Maybe Chinatown Wars story will be different. I play the games for the stories and character development. I hated the LCS storyline after Donald Love missions on Staunton, after that it didnt make any sense. Who was the crooked cop? Why was Toni's mom trippin? Where did Toshiko and her dude come from? What happened to Maria?

What happened to Maria? Who was the crooked cop? If you are talking about McAffrey then e is on Salvatore Leone's payroll and helps Toni deal with the encroaching Forellis and Sindaccos in Staunton Island. Above all else, McAffrey cares about getting paid. Why was Toni's mom trippin? Because she wasn't proud of her son I guess, she thought he was weak. kerouac.
You know, it'd be a lot more interesting if the next generation games were more like GTA2 where you work for the gang of your choice rather than following such a linear path. Obviously the consequences of your actions would need to become a bigger feature in the game play. I haven't played GTA4 but I'm glad there are alternate endings, I definitely think Rockstar should play up that nex time around. I've always wanted to see a completely sandbox rpg version of GTA. A game where you could design your character (from age, to build, to ethnicity) and have to build an empire from the ground up. It'd be nice if they had a very general vague story arc that you had to follow, but you could fill in the rest as you went along.

DUKEbluedevils11
What? GTA III came out in 2001 and is set in 2001 San Andreas came out in 2004 and is set in 1992
Hodgey.
Even though the storylines have been somewhat similar through most GTA games since III i still dont see them as repetative. This is just because of how you get to the final mission there is always a different reason why each of your freinds hve betrayed you. Of course i would like to see a different story outline in the next GTA but whatever R* writers come up with im sure its going to fit the storyline well.
