I need your opinion!

Ok here's the deal.... I have been craving more IV than the launch, But i cannot play it because i have nothing to play it on.

Why? because my xbox 360 got the RROD and that was the second 360 i have went threw in 2 years.

Now the dillema is should i buy a ps3 or a 360 once again, i mean i'm swaying to 360 cause it has more better exclusives but swaying to ps3 because it will probably last me more than 2 years. Not being able to play IV is harder than quiting smoking for me....and my parents said if i quit smoking till Christmas they will buy me either console.

 

Whats the pros+ and cons- to these consoles?

Sure they maybe more expensive but in the long term it will last you much longer, games start to slowdown after about 2-3years no promblem upgrading a pc is easy as pie.

I prefer PS3s to 360s, because I've always had Playstations. Except I got an Xbox in 2003.

 

I don't think there's anything wrong with the 360, but I just like the PS3 more.

 

It might not have as many games, but I just feel more comfortable with owning one.

 

I was using my brother's for a while, but I bought my own a couple of weeks ago. $688 AUD with 2 games. Not bad at all.

PS3 all the way. They are still such powerful pieces of kit that they still warrant a high price and will do for a while.

 

The 360 is cheap as chips. I'm a PS fanboy, and unsurprisingly I'd reccomend a PS3. But if money is tight then it makes more sense to go for a 360.

 

Pick up a 360 after xmas when the price falls below the £100 mark... Which they will eventually.

or a ps3, you cant say it has a lack of games, because its quailty, not quantity.

If metal gear solid, little big planet and any other up coming exclusives that float your boat. get a ps3

if you like halo , and dead rising. get an xbox. (theres a few more, but i cant think of any)

 

but my ps3 only had one problem, the blu ray drive died.

because it was a fauilty 60gb model. and i got it repaired by sony 2 weeks out of warranty.

but apart from that, i love it, blu ray. wireless built in, free online, decent games.

 

other factor to consider is what your mates have?

Truth is the game play I am having with the PS3 60GB model is causing more frequent freezups, there's graphic fill in as well, but this seems to crop up on other games too, it's never going to be flawless but with a PS3, you save and reboot, you're good to go.

 

Most game play is fun and endless.

I have known of 2 PS3's to break (my brother (had his replaced) and my best mate (No warrenty is stuck with it broken), I have had RROD with my 360.

 

They can be as bad as each other, just get what ever you want to play or spend your money on.

i got the 40GB UK edition for xmas 07. i still have it now, not a single problem, well maybe the system updates can screw around with the machine from time to time. but it is usually sorted quickly.

 

i have played on the 360. didn't seem to impressive to me.

plus i didn't think you could get new HDD like the ps3, with a simple swap over from old to new.

 

so i now got a 160GB PS3 =D

Apparently, the 360's are meant to be more reliable now. They're cheaper than a PS3, 120GB one will set you back only 230 pounds.

 

But then again, this is MS. They're probably no more reliable. It depends what games you like etc etc.

Well here's my opinion. I have all three Consoles and an "alright" computer

(HP Pavillion Slimline s7500e PC) I've gotten many games in my life and many consoles and still my favorite manufacturer is SONY! When I got my PS1 I put my N64 (AFTER I PLAYED TUROK AND GOLDENEYE ON MY FAVORITE CHRISTMAS IN MY LIFE LOL) back in the closet, when I got my PS2 I put my Dreamcast back in my closet and my Xbox started to collect dust after I played Splinter Cell and Halo for a while. Now the new gen consoles have made there mark in my household and I can honestly say SONY finally has some competition. The 360 has beautiful graphics and some nice games just like the PS3 and it has a great online service, to me they are both tied when it comes to the graphics and online service, but then comes the console itself. I personally feel that the PS3 has some flaws to it but some how stays appealing more than the 360. It has free online service, a great community, a SUPERB media outlet, and a SUPERB market place, and I have the ability to have this luxury for free, and I feel the console runs a little smoother than the 360 though when having to update a game or update the console the 360 beats the sh*t out of the PS3 im srry I am a Sony fanboy but that had to be said, the PS3 f*cks up alot when your updating and downloading and this needs to be fixed. IT's a DRAW it's totally up to you

 

PS3- Faulty downloading, free online service, SUPERB online service, SUPERB Media outlets,

Blu-Ray Player& And DVD player, a nicer community (friendlier people), nice exclusives, more dexterous with it's features, glitchy running game play @ times, a lot of lag in

multiplayer games, more reliable hardway

 

Xbox360- Faulty Hardware, ALOT of exclusives, less reliable hardware, less features, less efficient media outlets ,SUPERB Multiplayer, Expensive $ervice, smoother running games,

a large but unappealing community, Lag @ times ( less often than PS3)

 

 

OH AND THE Wii is just another Gamecube with wifi lol I havent played it since I got SSBB back in May lol.My brother is a Xbox fanboy and I am a Sony fanboy and we both wanted to see who's console would get f*ckED first, and our first 360 unfortunately died in June of 08'.

And to the PC fanboys your sh*t is way too expensive to keep up with so I say f*ck the PC let the Consoles take over .

I guess you already know the pro's of the 360. The PS3 is somewhat simular to the 360 in terms of graphics and gameplay, but it seems for now the 360 has more exclusives than the PS3. I don't find much differences in the two consoles, I think their both great. The only reason I have a PS3 is because I have always had a PlayStation (I have PSOne, PSX, PS2 and PSP) If I had some spare money lingering around I sure would spend it on a 360 just to see how good they are, they look pretty cool.

 

If you want a change of console, then go for the PS3. The PS3 also has a fair ammount of exclusives. The PS3 also has a Blueray DVD player and a Six-Axis wireless controler (Which is like a wii remote in other words)

+ More of my friends have one (More people to play online with and have a better online experience I've found)

+ A good variety of games (Something really for everyone)

+ Fairly cheap

+ Nice controller style (Nice beefy controller, whereas the PS3s feels kind of small)

+ XBL has a lot of good features like messenger (Sometimes annoying, but can be turned off easily)

- Lack of general features (No browser, for example)

- RRoD (Though apparently virtually non existent in later models)

- Noisy, and gets really hot (See above)

- Pretty ugly to be honest

- I've had a lot of trouble with getting it to work on the internet properly. (It may be my area/the way I'm connecting though. You probably won't experience any problems)

 

Seems like about equal with pros and cons, but when you remove the 2nd and 3rd cons due to improved models it looks better aware.gif But the pros far outweigh the cons regardless wink.gif

 

PS3

+ Some great features. (Blu-ray player, browser, USB ports for compatibility, chargeable controllers without buying anything extra and you can view your photos in five different types of slide show)

+ Well designed overall (Looks nice, stays cool and makes no noise, very easy to find what your looking for on the XMB)

+ Sony want to make the PS3 last 10 years, making it an investment.

+ Free online, connected straight up for me and I've experienced no problems. Plus, the PSN includes; PS3, online and PS2 so you only have one account for it all.

+ Some great games.

+ Updated often, so it's constantly getting better.

+ Uses standard notebook HDD (so it's very easy (and relatively cheap) to increase your HDD size to as much as 500GB.)

- Not a great variety of games (this time next year it will be much better though wink.gif )

- Not as many of my friends have one

- PSN isn't as good as XBL in terms of features, but it does what it says on the tin.

 

Verdict

Both have some great games coming out, and there's plenty of reasons to get either, but personally I recommend the PS3 over the Xbox. It's got some great features, making it as much as a home entertainment system as a games console, and it's built to last; Blu Ray is keeping it in the present (well, near future) and Sony want to keep it for as long as they did the PS2 before they bring out the new model, meaning plenty of time to rack up some awesome games and far get more than your money's worth in terms of enjoyment and quality gaming time. People complain about the PS3's price, but what you actually get is worth far more than the price tag.

 

If you were posting this about six months ago, I'd recommend the 360. But now we've seen truly what the PS3 has to offer, the PS3 is a better bet in my book

I would sell everything from the xboxes and get a ps3. I had many friends and me get a red lit of death. Go for the ps3, the online is free and the people on these forms support its multilayer.
