Rockstar: GTAIV DLC date now unclear

"I'm not sure," the veteran designer told Variety when asked about the DLC's drop date. "It's going well. But we don't know a date. We hope to be announcing that in the next few weeks. We're still figuring out a few things."

While the launch date may be fuzzy, Houser gave several concrete reasons that the expansion, which remains unpriced and untitled, could slip past its long-promised Q4 2008 release window. "We're more focused on quality than dates, [and] always have been," he said, obliquely referring to Grand Theft Auto IV's six-month delay from October 2007 to April 2008. He may have also been referring to the PC version of the game, which retailers are now listing as having been pushed back to December.

I don't care when it comes out, to be honest. Development time is better to be long than have a sh*t product because it was rushed.

It's unfortunate, but at this point I don't even think about the DLC anymore. That's not to say I can't wait to play it, I'm just beginning to feel let down because they've taken so long to say anything about it. All I can say is it better be good

Taste Of Chaos

One day.. Rockstar will release something on time. And with it, a huge tear in the Space/Time continoum and setting us all back to the 60's when R* or DMA didn't exist.

The circle of life continues. ph34r.gif

Opportunity knocks once in a lifetime, temptation will lean on the doorbell.

They obviously focused more on quality than when your mother gave birth to you, because you turned out less than sh*t.

Why do people think R* owe it to them to tell them when DLC is coming out?

And why are people bitching about the quality of the game? Are you kidding me? Its one oft he most polished games I have ever played. At no point does it feel ropey or even remotely Saints Row...

I don't care when it comes out, I have better things to than pine over some content that no one has a clue what it will be... I'll just bide my time, watching people rant and rave over the fact that fingerless glvoes didn't make it in. ANd that hopefully they will do for DLC...

I'm gald they are focussing on the content as if it were a new game. Thats encouraging.

'Why do people think R* owe it to them to tell them when DLC is coming out?'

Its not really a case of them owing it, but there has been a lot of noise made about DLC and as potential customers, its fair enough to want a rough idea of release. As somebody else mentioned, it would be more helpful to know what the hell it is first before a date even.

But I agree, IV cant really be knocked on the technical front. Content maybe...

There was meant to be one episode in the Autumn this year, then the second in 2009. I dont know if that was before the delay of the main game or not.

I don't mind waiting but at least tell me what the f*ck to expect. Give me SOMETHING, otherwise I'm gonna lose interest completely

i didn't know people were still obsessed with this game. it's purty, but thats all i like about it. i'm looking forward to the DLC, but until i came on here today for the first time in who knows how long, i had forgotten about it. by the time the DLC comes out, the next gta will be here! for now, i've moved on to bigger and better games like battlefield, call of duty, and a few others.

I get sick of Rockstar's attitude of not telling us sh*t. Give me a little f*cking hint, or tidbit. They're probably making us wait for some boring crap that wasn't worth waiting for.

And in advance to any GTA IV fanboys who wanna whine like little girls over what I said: shut up.

f*ck the DLC man, if you look forward to it in that way you'll probably end up dissapointed.

I'm looking forward to the next game, forget DLC.

I'd rather have an awesome DLC with a ton of stuff to do, etc. and have it later than to have a sh*tty one that comes right away. I don't mind a little delay for a product of much higher quality.

Well no, given R*'s track record they are probably making something worthwhile. They always deliver the goods at the end, fair play they don't stick to deadlines but it doesn't matter as long as its worth it. Which I believe it will be. I don't care when it comes out, it will be before the next GTA, but more than likely I think the next installment will be entirely DLC... And we will have to pay for it for sure. But I'm prepared to, because unlike certain games publishers *cough* EA, I don't think R* will peddle some two bit add ons and a few extra 'tidbits' to maintain the longevity of a game.

In this yes I am placing faith in R* not to s**t on me, and I hope they don't. But nothing is certain, and if R* screw it's customer base of the DLC then I think a lot of disgruntled people will become a lot of really p****d off people.

At the risk of sounding ignorant/uninformed, does anyone know if thr DLC eventually will be available for ps3 too? Or is it definitely xbox only?

I'm inclined to agree. With the massive titles coming out now, over the next few months and onward into 2009 we're spoilt for choice and I'm certainly not buying the DLC for a game I got bored with so easily, not when I've got much better options to chose from

They want more quality to go into the DLC. I like that idea, more missions with new characters is what I want.
