odgalvin
OK guys, I understand you can play some PC games over Xbox live? I dunno much about it but I play on XBL already and have heard 'bout Games for Windows and all that stuff. So could I? Could I play GTA4 over XBL on PC? GTAGuy
Basically, Games for Windows Live is the PC equivalent of Xbox live. It works and functions much in the same way as Xbox live does, and it can even be logged on to with the same account as you use for Xbox live. However, it doesn't mean that you can play GTA4 cross platform between the PC and 360. It only works with other PC players.

Some_Guy001
another difference between (games for windows Live PC) is that the online service is free of charge if u own a xbrick360 u gotta pay for the service
nlitement
another difference between (games for windows Live PC) is that the online service is free of charge if u own a xbrick360 u gotta pay for the service Silver is free.

So for all intents and purposes if you want to game online with an xbox you have to pay £40ish every year for it.

jesushumper
Xbox-ers have to PAY full functionality? Hah! Though it would've been nice to rape some console kids in MP. I've played on XBL a couple times and i noticed it'd rife with racism and sh*t-talking... it's sad.

TruXter
Wait , not to be the hopeful one here with a voice of simi reason. Dropping all logical answer you have about Microslop Wanting Money for the console version. all Idea of microslop wanting us to buy consoles. The game is not released and nothing has come forward to 100% disqualify this "dream" . Games can and have been, played cross platform. So in theory it can be done. Even though logic tells me Rockstar Has been ground breakers before, they will never bother to try again. Though I still hope for something to amaze me. We all know it will not happen. We can not say for certain though, until the game hits the floors. Edited November 11, 2008 by TruXter
lscratcher
so if the game is free does that mean that u can download gta 4 for pc when shes released through torrent which means cracked version and play it online and get achievbements without having to buy the original one cuz i i want to buy the original version
longboardskier
The game is not free, GFWL is a free service. You still have to buy the game (if you're not totally lame).

evilrex
I own both consoles, it's annoying that you have to pay for mutliplayer with the 360, however Xbox live pwns PSN, since it's not always friggin' empty. Seriously, I never go online with my PS3 because theres nobody there. IMHO, Mutliplayer = PC. Edited November 12, 2008 by evilrex

Be careful, you were almost funny for a second there. Asshole. Anyway, XBL is infinitely times better than PSN. Why dyou think they charge? Cos they h8 uz & wnat all our moneez??/ No. The use it to keep servers up, the service fresh, there's always new things coming out for it, etc. There's a reason why Wii online and PSN suck. You get what you pay for.
SynTerro
As the article here states.anyone thought of doing any reasearch ? Maybe you can cross platform. YEah that's a link worth reading. Games that support cross-platform multiplayer include: Lost Planet™ Extreme Condition - Colonies Edition Shadowrun™ Universe at War™: Earth Assault Wow what a list, nice going there M$ ..and I bet there is'nt going to be any cross platform support on GTA IV. I'm not hoping for it either.
Wezz6400
That would be total rapage by the PC players. I for one wouldn't mind as I've got a few stubborn friends who think you can play shooter elements just as well with a control pad. I'd love to prove them wrong. PestilenceJM
About PC players against Console players: As PC player, i would call the console players cheaters for using aimbots xD As for the Crossplatform thingy: Ive got a friend, whos PC will not be able to run GTA4, but hes xbox is. Im worried and interrested how it would work out, heh. Ill let them surprise me.

They use different servers and the XBL is used more too. It's different. And much better. Just same name. By no means can you claim PSN is better, but I expect your just a idiotic PS3 fanboy. And to be honest, £40 a YEAR is nothing, if you can't afford it, get off your fat arse and earn some money.
OysterBarron
its just a shame that your not going to be able to mod the game and play online with it because of the PC LIVE service shame really, Looks like the PC version will have to have up unofficial servers again just like SA MP. Be carfull what you say about us XBOXERS if it wasnt for us paying our 40pound a year then you may have actually had to PAY a fee to use your service and play GTA4 Online.
