You're spending $100 on a 9600GT? There are way better cards for that price man. You can get this 1GB HD4850 for $119.99 ($99.99 after rebate).

An hd4850 1Gb(119.99$) will perform much much better than a 9600Gt(100$).I myself own an HD4850 and it is the best card for price, but for HD4850 you should really get a good PSU,which may cost you more.

sorry man i cant cuz i live in south africa and if there is a problem with the card i have to send it back so id rather buy something more expensive from company's i trust so pls help me,im almost convinced that a 350W psu would work with a 9600gt?

yes but remember that i also only have a 1.6ghz core 2 duo(which is fine for me)so that probably uses alot less power and also only have 1 dvd drive so will a 350W do with a 9600gt?

Dude it will be fine. Are you doing any overclocking and do you have any external USB devices such as printers? If no then you are fine.

nope all i got is my pc and mouse,speakers,screen...thats all and im not planning on overclocking so i'll be fine, today i made another 10$,almost a 100$,20$ to go and then i get a 9600gt,btw about how much of a performance increase does the 9600gt have over the 8500gt?

It will be huge and 9600GT will kick your 8500GT right away. 8500GT doesnt need any additional 6 pin power connector. But 9600GT does as it needs more power to boost performance.

yeah because the 8500gt does perform alot better than my 7200gs(lolz) so the 9600gt will be better because you know i just want to play at 1280x800 so this card is good enough for me and i am glad my 350W psu can handle it otherwise i would of waited till christmas and that would suck...

ya know what...my father said that its better safe than sorry so we are going to buy a new psu just to be safe so we are going to get a 450W or higher because i really dont want a blown pc so what you guys think, will it be safer that way?

A 450W PSU should be sufficient for your system. Make sure you buy one of the good brands though; not some generic brand PSU.

And please don't double post. Use the EDIT button. smile.gif

oh ok sorry, but ive come to realize that it's better safe than sorry, seriously,or when i buy it i can look on the box and see,if it says 500w recommended then i'll get 500w because i dont want to blow my pc and maybe i'll think of overclocking my cpu if i get a 550w or should i rather wait until christmas for a intel core 2 quad Q9400 @ 2.66ghz because i think id rather wait before a 14 year ols(me)does something stupid,so i'll get a higher psu and christmas a Q9400

A 450W PSU should suffice for your current system even if you overclock. But if you wish to get a quad core and overclock it, then something above 500W would be preferable.

nope no overclocking before i do something stupid, btw i just found out that im getting the 1 gig version, will i get about 5 fps more than the 512mb version? 512mb version

5 fps is plausible; might get even more than that. Besides, it will also give you some more room for pushing the settings up a little bit than the 512MB one.

I know it will run, but I just wanted to know can it run on maximum settings, without lag etc.?

Processor: Intel Core2Duo E8400 3,0GHz

Motherboard: MB Gigabyte socket 775

RAM: 4096MB DDR2 800MHz Kingston

Graphic card: VGA 9800GT 1024MB DDR3

Thanks.

No, because GTA IV is optimized for Quad cores. You will also need a video card of equal or greater power as the ATI Radeon 4850.

I got a fail just because I didn't have enough disk space on the install drive, 10gb instead of 16gb, but of course I have already installed GTA IV on that drive! Other than that, got success on everything for minimum! I play with low textures and better everything else, because for the life ofme, I cannot see any difference between low and medium textures! smile.gif

You can run on maximum settings fine, but it depends on the resolution you play at. I think the 9800GT should do fine until about 1680x1050. If you want to go above that, get a better video card, because I don't think the 9800GT will be able to provide a good FPS at a higher resolution than 1680x1050.

Something like a GTX260 216 or GTX275 should do great, preferably the 1792MB version of the GTX275.

Try and overclock the CPU if you can. That chip should do 4GHz easy and it would really help with IV.

I have ACER 7730G Notebook with this configuration : ------>

- CPU : Intel Core2Duo P7350 2.00 GHz (3 MB L2 Cache)- 1066 MHz FSB...

- Graphic : NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 512 MB VRAM

- RAM : 4 GB DDR2 667 MHz

- HARD DISK : 320 GB HDD

- 17" WXGA LCD

- OS : Microsoft Windows VISTA ULTIMATE Service Pack 2 x32

If I put this new CPU on my laptop, will GTA IV run better ?

I have 22 FPS on my notebook...

(Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 BOX, 4×2.83GHz, 1333MHz, 775-pin, 12MB) ------->

This is the CPU I want to install on my Notebook...

Yup, that will run GTA IV fine, although the graphic card might pull down the Q9550 a little. Still, you should be able to get a decent, playable fps on medium settings. Also, upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit, if you can.

Yeah, you may be able to run it fine. But you wont get high textures, shadows and resolution.Because 9600M GT is a cutdown and power saver version of 9600GT,so your 9600M GT cant give the same performance of a 9600GT.

Buddy of mine needs an answer, will this run it with some decent settings?

AMD Athlon II X2 250, 3,0Ghz, AM3, 2MB, 65W,

Crucial DDR3 1333MHz 4GB KIT, CL9, Kit w/two matched DDR3 2GB, 240 pin

PowerColor Radeon HD 4670 "PCS" 512MB GDDR3, PCI-Express 2.0, 2xDVI, HDCP

In-Win C638 ATX Midi Tower Black 400W PSU, 2xUSB 2.0

All good?

I want to upgrade my PC with not large money waste to run IV on minimum-medium requirements.

RAM: 2560 mb (2.5 gb)

Videocard: GeForce 9500GT 1024 mb (1 gb)

CPU is Intel Pentium IV 3.00 GHz (really, currently I can not change it, but know that single-core processors are bad for IV) - dont laugh please.

Windows 7

So, how much fps can I have? If nesessary, with full disabeled shadows, shaders, reflections and etc... Really low-detail + also I can disable some render flags using Alexander`s fix. Maybe for somerbady this is can look that very bad hardware, but really I dont like to play - only want to finish IV storyline.

@|Dageron|: I'd say about 10-15 fps, but don't count on it. Both your CPU and GPU are weak.

Is he buying that build? Or does he already own it?
