Use this one, better. http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest

I got all on recommanded exept my cpu.  mad.gif

I actually think that one is crap.

Actually both of these benches are kinda crap.

because I use tiny vista (stripped of all resource hogging uslessness

but remains with excellent driver support )

My computer out performs it's self with windows xp installed.

But since those benchmarkers search for just what you can see in

by looking into system information/device manager.

I instantly fail because I do not have 2.5

gigs of ram.

I would like more ram and am capable of 16 gigs of ram.

as of right now I do not need more because nothing

holds me back, other than status.

The fact that my operating system is not the resource hog

it appears to be, I fail.

and the yougamer site has the required memory wrong.

2.5 is the min on vista

Emmm... Rockstar has just lost some of their costumers, including me. confused.gif

And me confused.gif

Including me I just added the percentages up and it looks like people that wanted to play this game only 61.34%!! meet the requirements and I'm one of those people that don't meet them so they probably lost me..... confused.gif

I think it's pathetic that people call themselves pc gamers, yet are not going to play a game because they do not want to upgrade.

It is clear that you are built for consoles.

In pc gaming world, the magic phrase is " Evolve or Die".

You clearly never have been here and clearly will never be here.

I can assume that you are either a troll, or someone who

just got into pc gaming.

I do not know one real pc gamer

who actually thinks that games should stay just crappy enough

for their out dated machine to handle.

You must pay to play.

or find some other way.

Oh and these tests are not true tests of computer capabilities.

It just reads what you have and sees if it is to standards.

most of these clowns that see "failed" and run away throwing a tantrum

probably will play this game quite smooth without having to turn anything off.

If I can't buy it. I can overclock to it!!!!!!

yay! I surpass the recommended no point posting the images again though, there similiar to anyone else with a quad and a decent 8800 card. I'm quite surprised by the backlash this has brought about in the community though and quite frankly shocked at the expectation levels.

Are you guys serious about trying to run games on a x1650/7300 card? These were never the best of cards even in there heyday (especially the generic 7300!). You guys need a serious upgrade for just about any game that came out in the last 3 years nevermind GTA IV.

Brightside of all this though there's never been a better time to buy yourself some new parts, with the market stagnated and not looking to improve again for at least 2-3 years you'll really be getting more bang for your buck.

It shouldn't shock you that your current PC which is WAY WEAKER than the consoles can't handle these sort of blockbuster games rolleyes.gif .

Uhhhhh Overlocking isn't always such a good option especially for those of us with laptops, because even in desktops it can increase the card temperature to 5 degrees Celsius above normal temps. Also a lot of us don't have all that extra cash hanging around to upgrade our video cards, processors and Ram all at once and we are still PC gamers just without all the extra hardware

I don't think it's so much that people don't want to upgrade, it's more to do with the fact that they cannot afford to, especially in such dire financial times.

If you can't afford to upgrade your PC then you can't run the game. If you can't run the game then you won't purchase the game, because it would be completely unusable. Common sense really.

Also, the magic phrase here is "Use grammar or die". Or at the very least, full sentences on the same line.

Is this true that dualCores are (actually) better for the gaming than the quadCores?

It is only true because most games so far have not taken advantage of the two extra cores on a quadcore processor. At least 99% of games are optimised to run on a duo2core so technically it makes sense to just buy the fastest duo2core you can get.

However it seems that there might be a shift to Quadcores sooner rather than later, if GTA 4 is a tremendous success we will see more and more games utilising all 4 cores on the quad. I welcome this, PC gaming has always been about pushing boundaries and it is nice to see GTA 4 being a boundary pushing game on the PC once again.

At the end of the day if you have a decent duo2core and a decent GPU 8800 or higher you are guaranteed a better gaming experience than the console version. If you meet the minimum requirements then you are guaranteed to get the same experience as the consoles. Now if you have a PC below the requirements you can expect the game to run worse than the consoles.

People complianing about upgrading...

I have 2 7900gtx (at the time I spent about $600 canadian on them) in my machine yes its equivalent to a 8800gtx but. Its still time to upgrade for me. Next series of games my two cards wont stand a chance. Why you say? Its forth gen back. Third gen back is old school. I get by becasue I push my machine to the limit, overclocking and tweaking.

Just go out and buy a new video card cheapest higher end card you will find will be a ATI HD4850 $200-300 bucks on ebay. It will last a few years before an upgrade is needed.

The HD4850(when the drivers are solid) will hold upto a gt280.

To the duel core question...

Only a few games out utilize 2 cores. I have not seen anythng that says gta 4 utilizes 2 cores. Whats good about it if your OS can see a operation it can use a second core on that and keep one core for itself.

why not the 4870 x2?

depends on what you want to spend thats all. Personaly crossfire is not perfect and the scalling of 4xcrossfire is not that great.

4870 is 2 cards in one, 2 4850s will run faster then a single 4870 for almost the same price.

4870 is not 2 cards in one. It is a single GPU solution.

I wanna start a theoretical bet over whether or not GTA IV could actually utilize all four cores.

My bet? No.

My reasons?

A) There isn't actually much in GTA IV to make the CPU the bottleneck. Physics is simply a case of rag dolls, and the AI is nothing to talk about.

B) It would be astonishing to see one of the first PC games to utilize a quad core be a console port, let alone a Rockstar console port, unless they actually did develop this game for the PC from the grounds up like they say. But many developers said that before and were just doing it for marketing.

What do you think?

I thought the 4870 was a duel pcb solution. I guess I was wrong confused.gif (I have been an nvidia guy for quite a while)Now you got me looking. Even the x2 is single pcb. Im starting to salivate at the mouth o.O. I wonder If there is support for running 2 of the 4870x2's?

That would be so kick ass.

Last night just playing around. I underclocked my cpu processor by 50 megs and upstepped my video processor

by 75 mhtz. I lost 5 degrees Celsius. My video temperature dropped from 48 degrees c to 43 degrees C.

In the end I gained very little other than a cooler card.

But then again I wasn't trying to do much other than find

artifacts. I found none. and found a cooler card.

It was pointless.. Yes.

but just wait till I have a goal.

yes there 2x the x2 4870 option but untill ati really sort the drivers on that ill be waiting for nvidia next option but would drool at a chance of a 4870 yummmy smile.gif

well taking that number from millions aint a big number but im sure on low settings it will still run on some machines again we will wait and see ...id rather a pc that was too slow than a game that didnt run well you can upgrade the pc not the game

OH MY GOD! So much people who cannot play GTA IV suicidal.gif

Again I will say this.

YES THEY CAN!!

Those "tests" just run statistically.

They do not actually test the abilities of the hardware.

i saw a video 5 minutes ago on youtube were someone played crysis on a geforce 6200!

but the requirements say that you need a geforce 6600 to play it!

dont trust all system requirements!

PS: sorry i cannot speak english very good

what link?

I played doom3 on a 5500 with res all cranked down.

I played crysis on a 6200 and a 7600, both on low settings with no lag

oddly enough the 7600 was a gt yet it still played just as crappy.

crysis to me is an open code that needs to be patched. it's a bloated piece of short crap.

it offered hardly any game or activity other than shoot bad guys

if the area got to crowded, turn around and turn back, the numbers will decrease.
