GTA IV System Requirements

With my new PSU and GFX card and I Overclocked my 2.4Ghz qaud to 2.81 ..

@yodaman123 Maybe it will maybe it wil not! I installed and played Mercenaries 2 today it requires service pack 3 but i have service pack 2 and i can play it without sp3 too

Last poster is completely correct, this topic should be wiped from existence, I can not run GTA4 despite being twice the Min Req's just because I lack SSE4 CPU Instructions, on top of that this test classes the Pentium D*ual* as a Single Core. I am running at 4Ghz *DUAL CORE - NOT Hyper-threaded crap*, benchmarks are beating 3Ghz Core 2 Duo's yet I will not be able to run this game...

 

Seriously, I do not wish to moan but I'm running Far Cry 2 flawlessly, Need For Speed: Undercover, Fallout 3, Spore, C&C RA3 and Tomb Raider Underground Perfectly! My CPU can handle GTA4 with ease. To me it looks like R* don't know W.T.F. they are doing, Bully has gone down in history as one of the worst ports ever, GTA4 looks like it may go the same way.

 

And before I get bashed by Morons saying omg you have a 3 year old CPU I highly suggest you re-read my first paragraph.

Sad to hear but hey, you have a socket LGA775, nothing's lost, just buy a new CPU in the Core 2 Duo/Quad familly and you'll be set to play.

It's not that easy. You have to make sure your board supports those chips. Just having the socket isnt enough.

I am already planning to upgrade to a Q6600 G0 Stepping (Upgraded motherboard last week in preperation -Asus , got new CPU Cooler as well due to crappy Intel Clips breaking), I guess I'm just upset that the upgrade wont be delivered during Xmas rush (I can't do the order until 19th), but still there is no reason for the game not to run on Pentium D's, fair enough Pentium 4's do not have the CPU power to run the game, but my OCed Pentium Dual Core could easily handle the game at Medium, probably Max. (Based on my current experience with other new games) The fact it *apparently* crashes (Which to me is verified by the fact the Official System Requirements where changed by R* within the last week) makes no sense at all, unless R* simply don't want people with machines that are more than capable of running the machine playing it, hence my confusion.

 

I was honestly hoping to run the game, even at Medium Physics (Graphics don't really make a difference at these kind of Dual Core Clock Speeds, its simply Physics and other CPU intensive stuff... I guess this is why I'm slightly annoyed, if the game does run on a Pentium D*ual* I'll be pleasantly surprised, if it does not then I'm honestly considering not buying the game as it seems deliberate that the game does not run on Pentium D's.

 

The fact I already own the Console Version (The 360 ate it 2 weeks after getting the game, damn friends, one knocked the console over, so I blame MS for not having clips on the DVD-Drive, but R* asking me for 20UPK + me having to pay postage to them + a Self Addressed envelope = 25UKP feels stupid to me when I'm actually going to buy this PC Version, although I'll be damned if I'm im not going to download it first to check it actually works and isn't like the Bully P.O.S Port (PC Gamer UK also agreed it was bad port) *I uninstalled it after a day, I would have bought it if I didn't need to disable my Modem and Bluetooth Audio before firing it up)

Would have got recommended but i only have a dual core, 2GB ram (Wants 2.5 since i'm running server 2008) and graphics card is only an X1950Pro

You will need an extra 1GB of ram and need to upgrade to XP SP3 and I can't say much for your video card as I've never heard of it before

That card is going to get OWNED by this game. It might just be playable (10-20fps) on 640x480 everything low, if he's lucky. But I think it's a lost cause. You know, carjack someone, go make a sandwich, before the car starts moving LOL
