Hey I just bought a Laptop for college and was interested to see if it could run GTA IV or not. It's not a big deal if it cant, because I have it for the PS3 anyway. Here are the specs:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

AMD Quad-Core A8-4500M (3.0GHz/2.1GHz, 4MB L2 Cache)

AMD Radeon HD 7600 Series Discrete-Class Graphics

6GB 1600MHz DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)

750GB 7200RPM Hard Drive

Thanks in advance!

Alright, thanks yojo, I appreciate it.

EDIT: Hey yojo, actually another question, if I get the Windows Vista/ XP copy of the game, will it run being as the laptop runs on Windows 7.

There's nothing as Vsita/XP version of the game. The game works at all the systems, though better on Windows 7. smile.gif

Ok thanks Prometheus, Amazon has it listed as Vista/XP so I just wanted to check. I figured the new versions of Windows could run it anyway. Sorry I think the last PC game I bought was Roller Coaster Tycoon 2....pretty long time ago. Thanks for all the help though smile.gif

Not really all systems, as the game was not designed for Windows 2000, NT, 98, 95, or 3.1 or Millennium(spelling?) or the mac OS...it is ONLY for XP SP3, Vista-at least SP1, and Windows 7..Just a heads up/clarification... smile.gif

If it's good for Windows 7, then it's good for me. Thanks for the insight though.

Ok, well i need to update Java, and my net is going too slow, so i can't run that test.

Will GTA IV run on:

Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 32-Bit

NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT GFX Card (w/ Latest Update)

2.20 GHz AMD Phenom 9500 Quad Core Processor

2GB RAM

And how much FPS (roughly) would i get depending on the games GFX settings?

The game should run fluently on low settings, maybe low-medium.

It's absolutely terrible, not to mention its horribly high price. Do not buy prebuilt PCs.

i have

2 gb ram

dual core at 2.8 GHz

nvidia 9500 (512 mb)

can it run it

Nope. At lowest settings, maybe 15FPS.

sorry, i have nvidia geforce 9500gt ddr2 1 gb

Hmm...maybe 20FPS playable settings.

is 20 fps enough

Yes, but I'm not completely sure, also the graphics will be very bad.

what? i purchased the graphic card just for gta4

Well, you should've researched more. If you want to play GTA IV properly, you should have at least a $350-400 budget for a good PC.

okay. now i'll have lag with the graphic card for at least 4 years.

but i found some good reviews for 9500gt.so i decided to make some research on it and got to know that it was very good.what can i do to increase the graphics?and to run it properly

You'll have to buy a new Gaming PC. That's the only solution.

What if i have geforce 210 ddr3 1 gb and 2 gb ddr2 RAM on win7 ultimate

I wouldn't bother calling 210 a graphics card... honestly, there are Intel IGPs that are faster than this piece of sh*t.

100% what yojo said, i'd probably go for 6670 AT LEAST or 7770. Maybe a GT 630 or GT 430.

No. 460/550Ti at least, the X30's are Low-End GPUs.

Yup. Basically anything below HD7750/HD6770 or GTS450/GTX550Ti is not worth buying for gaming purposes.

getting this:-

We are sorry, the Game-o-Meter is unable to calculate a performance estimate for your computer.

It is unable to determine how well Grand Theft Auto IV runs on your system. This may be because:

- Your processor or your video card is a very new model

- Your computer has a processor and video card combination that is very rare

- Or your processor or your video card is very old

If your system is new, this problem should resolve itself automatically as more data is submitted. Please try again in a few days.

I have Radeon Hd 7670 and Intel HD 400

with total Vram of 4096MB

What's your CPU?

Core i5 3317u @ 1.7GHZ turboboost upto 2.7 GHZ

Well it should run in a playable FPS at Med/High settings. smile.gif

No, i think it's a laptop. If the stock speed is 1.7GHz and it's i5 i think its laptop so Medium settings maybe Low/Medium at playable frame rates.

I say Medium settings at most.

Do you have a certain budget? also is gaming a priority?

Thanks for your reply. My budget is around £500 (i turn 18 on the 16th so parents will help me to pay). Gaming is pretty much the priority, the laptop I have at the moment I have owned since 2008 but still does browsing the web etc. quickly enough, but it is getting into poor condition and overheats a bit. Also, I would like a laptop rather than a PC! colgate.gif

I looked around and it seems to be kind of hard to find a suitable one, since I don't really know much about the hardware of laptops. You should make a topic about this at this forum [PC Performance]. smile.gif
