Like I'm going to believe a site that says the following:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 /

AMD Phenom X3 8400

Comparing your CPU Intel® Core2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz (running @2240MHz) with the requirement Intel Core 2 Quad (running @2400MHz)

• Your processor is significantly less powerful in raw performance

You have 1 cores but the requirement is 1

YouGamers recommends following upgrades:

• Dell XPS 710 H2C

So suddenly,my C2D has mysteriously misplaced/lost a core.I find that hard to believe!.Frankly,I wouldn't be surprised if HW manufacturers gave them a couple of bucks just to say things like these.

I mean look down,it says.

"Do you want to buy a 4850(200$)"

Not to mention that I already have the 4850,-.-'

EDIT:

Also:

(Checked box) Operating System: Windows Vista SP1 / Windows XP SP3

In fact,I have a clean copy of Vista X64 withOUT service pack 1!

Seriously guys, this is just a bunch of bullcr*p!

And i looked on Thiswebsite.Recommended is Quad Core or AMD Phenom X3 8700 or whatever. The difference is price.Cheapest Quad Core i looked is about 300-400$ and Phenom is 200$.I will buy CPU what says in my sig and costs same as Phenom X3.Is Phenom a bulls*it of CPU?

I don't have a PC yet but am getting one in a few weeks and was wondering if there is a way to do a benchmark for GTA4 manually without having to be on the actual machine at the time. Basically, is there a way to enter in the specs and get a result?

I want to play GTA4 maxed out on all settings. (I'm pretty much getting a PC for gaming (GTA4 only TBH))

My future specs are:

Core2 Duo E8400

1333FSB, 3.0GHz,6MB cache,45n

ASUS ATI HD4870 512MB DDR5

DDR-2-800 6GB Ram

Latest version of Vista.

Thanks in advance.

I think you will be fine mate wink.gif

DDR-2-800 6GB Ram

Waste of money. 4GB of ram is barely needed for any game, let alone 6GB.

I know a few games that use 4gb ram that I play, so it's fair to say it is needed in this day and age, 6gb isn't a waste of cash if you have the money as you will need to update in the future, and if it's only 800mhz and you have the money, I would just go for it wink.gif

I have 4GB 800mhz, and I am updating to 6 or 8 GB after christmas.

Forgot to add .. If it's Vista 64 bit, then 4GB is the minimum for a decent gaming machine, otherwise your 64bit Vista will be a waste with anything under 4GB.

Games aren't suddenly going to require 6GB of ram. By the time games require this much, there will be much better processor/ram/video card models out there, so you'll have to switch everything inside the case.

So yeah, it's a waste of money. These days you have to be wise before blowing your money on computer specs that aren't needed (like so many Americans do).

Vista 64bit is a waste of time if it doesn't have 4GB, it's a well known fact to be fair. (for games)

I have games that use 4GB, so therefore it is not a waste at all, and the way games are progressing 6GB is not a waste especially if it's DDR2 800mhz, which very soon will be the older gen. (like mine)

Games will suddenly require 6GB of ram, just like suddenly GTA has quad core on the box, to ignore the whole FACTUAL gaming proof is a bit silly, no offence. As for switching everything inside the case, that hardly ever happens, if you buy wisely.

Google it and you will find out the facts.

Americans waste money on machines, what ?

Im Scottish if that was a dig at me.

To the original poster, I would go for the 6GB mate, find some proper tech forums and they will all say the same as me (I know this because I have asked the same questions), it's just the way the gaming world works on the pc, it evolves faster than we can keep up.

So, YouGamers Game-O-Meter shows I'm really over the recomended BUT- what about 64bit windows xp?

As we (or at least some of us) know, sp 3 is only for 32 bit xp, not for the 64bit version.

Should I really get a new operating system, or shall gta 4 run on 64bit windows xp with sp 2? dontgetit.gif

Failed?

I got everything passing except for my GHz, which was 1.4 GHz off from the minimum, is that gonna be a big problem/

What are your stats mate ?

I may be wrong but I don't think there would be much of a difference, I suppose it depends on your system specs.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my query regarding the PC I'm going to purchase.

I've only ever played the console versions of GTA but that will soon change.

Really looking forward to a whole new experience of gaming.

No problems, I hope it helped you decide, and remember it's always worth checking some pc tech forums, they are usualy the best with answers regarding upgrades wink.gif

And I can promise you, you won't regret it.

Happy gaming cool.gif

Well, I've got q6600 @ 2,4ghz, 4gb of ram and a 512mb 8800 Gts- so there really should be no hardware problem. It would be stupid if Gta will not run just because I don't have sp3.

I'll have to wait and see but I doubt I'll be getting a new OS just for this. I'm still pissed at Rockstar for what they did to us, pc gamers.

Boo, Rockstar, boo! That video editor is not going to make us forget what you did!

camdean, don´t get me wrong mate, but everytime i read any of your post i can´t help thinking about this  lol.gif .

LooL !!

Compared to ned, theres a first !!

Just stating rather obvious facts mate, so i'd like to say im more like like this guy who knows his sh*t ..

Lol seriously. Those "Can You run it" etc things are bullsh*t. Totally. Don't believe those (unless you really have a crappy computer, with one core cpu, old GPU etc). http://i37.tinypic.com/2irk9xz.jpg

I have everything above the recommended but I don't have the Quad (btw when I was building my rig then I read many reviews and articles and they told me that E8400 3GHz is better than Q6600 2.4GHz) and thanks to that I would not be able to run my game with High settings? I don't think so. It just shows that it supports QUAD and knows how to use it but it doesn't mean that when you have good C2D CPU then you still will not be able to play it with high settings.

I have been looking into this, and as far as I have heard this was said at a time when games barely used quad, but now most new games can put the qaud cores to use, so it's the other way around.

As long as your graphics card is good with that processor I'm sure you will be running on high settings.

Well PNY 8800GT 512MB is good enough i believe tounge.gif.
