Just because the specs are fairly high, which to be honest is pretty much the norm these days. Either upgrade your PC, or stick to consoles. Simple really. It´s not that Normal especially not for a Console Port. Look at all those new Games like Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, Dead Space, even STALKER Clear Sky which is a PC only Game for example. Wait for it to come out, see how lower spec PC's handle it and then decide. If you ask me, x360 is not worth the money. Not 200$, not 100$, hell I wouldn't pay 5 dollars for it. A few hundred dollars can get you a nice GPU, maybe you can get something used. It would be a lot better then some crummy sh*t box which may die on you at any given moment in time. Quadcores are expensive and upgrading is NOT if you have an unsupported motherboard. Plus it would be very bottleneck. My motherboard is an stupid VIA and whatever sh*t. CPU/GPU/Motherboard are impossible to upgrade. Only a new pc is the good thing to solve this problem. So, its "simply really" And I never touched consoles so Im not buying one. I really don't see what the problem is, if your system doesn't meet the minimum requirements then either upgrade or replace it, because as sure as eggs are eggs, there's going to be no way you'll be running the games released in 2009. Why hang on to an outdated and outclassed machine? New systems aren't even that expensive if you know where to look. Not all Quads are expensive, it depends greatly on which one you buy, and to be honest you don't even need a Quad, Dual will work just as well and is a cheaper alternative. I had the same problem as you with my old system, it had reached the end of it's upgradable life, was 5 or more years old and struggling with nearly all newly released games, in short it needed replacing. There was nothing I could do but replace it, so I did. Sure it cost me, but look at it this way, you buy it and then don't need to worry about replacing it for another 5 or more years, depending on the direction hardware takes. My CPU meets the requirements and my Graphic Card meets almost even the recommendations (HD3850) that´s not the Problem. I just wonder what is so hardware demanding on that game? The Town and the AI Traffic and Pedestraians are only rendered around you and not the whole time around the whole city. The Trees look like from 2002. The Game has also not really a high polygon count. Can the high recommendations especially regarding the CPU be just excused only by the massive amount of Traffic and Pedestrians? Or are the recommendations so high because the Game Engine have been ported not so good? I really Prey that not only Quad Core users will have a great Game experience here. In terms of "hardware demanding", think about it for a minute, the console version has a max resolution of (I believe) 1280x720, someone correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I read somewhere, the PC version will be running all sorts of resolutions, some of them ridiculously high, with a maximum (supported) of 2560x1600. Big difference. While the console version is designed around smaller resolutions, the PC version is not. That by itself going to change quite a few things, notwithstanding the texture resolution, which Rockstar reportedly increased for the PC iteration. Then you have to consider what's being rendered on-screen, buildings, cars, and pedestrians to name but a few, plus AA+AF, and of course there's the Euphoria engine to consider on top of this. I believe the game also differs from the console incarnation in the variety of cars and pedestrians spawned, whereas in the console version you may see many of the same car/pedestrian, the power of modern PC processors has been used to reduce this "cloning" as much as possible. This and the number that can be on-screen at any one time. All in all it's not that surprising that the requirements are fairly high, but as I said, this does not mean that the game will not run on older machines, and it certainly does not point to a bad port. I'd love to have a game on DVD rather than on disk... And I am on Orange broadband which is the slowest broadband in UK. Takes ages to download 100 megs leave aside 202 gigs. I know a big bunch of local people who would love to do that even without a reason I will be getting it from a shop 31 pounds is not so bad, I though console games were around 50 pounds, no? Not even one of those Games has such high requirements and recommendations for hardware. None of the games you mention are even close to GTA IV as far as hardware taxing characteristics go. Fallout 3 is the closest, however it's nuclear wasteland is empty whereas Liberty City is busy with loads of things going on. GTA IV is very taxing, it was on consoles (remember the sh*tty framerates) and it will be on PC. If you want the exact same experience from the console it's not all that bad, however if you want the full juice the PC offers you have to have a good system. That's hardly suprising though. So many little things on the console version that bugged me, but with the simplicity of mouse and keys, the game is going to be a blast. And online, with server choices, and more people in one game! WTF!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 24 person free mode here we come, or maybe 32! sh*t... 24 is still a good amount of people tho. Aslong as it's not 16, but that Kotaku preview was bitchin'. I had a choice, buy an xbox/ps3 or.. upgrade my PC Ppl say the game doesn't need modding but I say To hell with them! If you can mod sh!tty VC and SA to look like Gostown7 then imagine the posiblities of modding IV This site is for modders! We don't mod because we need to, we mod for the Hell of it!
