My processor is going to handle this like cake.

But the graphics are going to lag.

If you can turn off bloom, then I think I will be ok with what I currently have, but if it doesn't give you that option I might have to deal with bad textures.

@CharmingCharlie

I can understand that you get angry with people who want to get a pirated version of GTA IV. I will also buy a Copy at a store as i am a big fan of the series and bought every GTA Original.

But do you really think generally about every one who uses pirated Software or just only some pirated Programs and MP3´s and Movies on their Computer that they are Scum and Thefts?

Well then you adjudge a big part of the world including many many normal People as thefts and scum. I don´t wanna start a Discussion about Pirating Software but I think that this Opinion is very ignorant. The Problem of piracy is not just a matter of People that are Scum cause they don´t wanna buy a Game and want to steal it.

Right please no talking about pirate or Warez.

Anyway I have said it but I feel a bit proud cool.gif my new desktop will even run GTA IV and Crysis Warhead simultaneously. wink.gif

I mentioned the dual core ability of the 939 socket because you only need a good card and ram then. I would like a Pentium 4 board just because I have a CPU for it, but it's a cheapie and not a good gaming one, if it was dual core, being it's 2.4Ghz, that would work.

About Thefts, that's the ACT of stealing, not a person who IS stealing, then its a THIEF.

I used to hide APPLE software in my coat at the local store and try and walk off with it, I did that with magazines as well, but that's kids stuff.... shoplifting. Most people commit petty crimes, for their own 'good reasons', mine was a protest to high prices and the fact I was too young to afford most things.

We used to shoplift Penthouse and Playboy too, for obvious reasons but I say WE because I KNOW I wasn't the only one in that case!

Anyway, it's best you don't come with a good excuse, but nip that practice in the bud.

END it before you wind up paying the FULL price.

I'm definately going to have to wait and ask someone who plays the game to tell me if my comp will be able to run. There are to many factors to take into consideration.

Ehh, minimum specs scarred me a bit...

I have athlon x2 2 GHz, and 1 GB ram...

About graphic card I'm not worrying, I've bought the new one a few weeks ago.

It seems that I will have to upgrade the rest of my pc in a short time...

Now trust me if this turns out to be a bad port I will be first in line to bitch and moan as much as the next guy.  However no one knows how good the port is till they actually have it on their machine and creating a 30 car pile up.

I'm saving this quote for later biggrin.gif

Xbox 360 ... 20 - 30fpa ... PS3 ... 20 - 29fps.

From this I gather you obviously believe teh x360 to be a superior machine. Tsk, tsk...

To keep on topic, I played SA on a 2.6 GHz celeron, 512 MB RAM and Radeon 9200 Stupid Edition with crippled 32 MB ram. Aah, those were the days...

1st: sorry my english

we just need to stay cool

the reqs are f*cked up ... a lot of people cant run IV and thats sad

the dealy sucks, even its not yet happened in europe but i have kinda strange feeling that europe is going to delay too and even more far to the future...

in summer everyone was happy that IV is coming to PC on 18 and 21 nov

the only thing thats keeping us happy at the moment is that in PC version, there is replay editor etc.

everything is f*cked up ...

the main thing is f*cked up reqs, but we just need to keep fingers crossed and hope that single core guys can run IV ...

My computers are all mostly Pentium 3s, which are still very nice CPUs.

I feel I'd need the best dual core, and I think it's a Sempron perhaps

Funniest quotes of the day.

this game is going to be horribly optimized, hell, Criterion Games has Burnout: Paradise running on a 2-Year old Laptop!, and it's running great!

I have been waiting years for a reason to upgrade , this is it , Not for the gameplay though , I didn't like 4 . I want the game to mod it/ make videos etc .

A Phenom x4 system with a 512 ddr 3 card with vista64 a 500 gig sata and 4 gig of ram is cheap at $550 CDN . Price drops everywhere it seems , and oh so not limited like a console .

Damn, no Radeon 9600 edition can even run GTA:SA maxed at nice fps. confused.gif I got one in my old PC. It was enough (not good, anyway) to play VC and SA, but IV? No way.

I have an ATI Radeon 9600 aswell and I can run SA pretty good. Not the max reso, but not a crappily low reso either and it runs pretty good. Yeah it's not maxed out but it's definatly perfect enough for SA. But indeed, there's no chance that GTAIV will run on it.

I have Fuijutsu Siemsens with

Processor: AMD athlon 64 3500+

Ram: 1gb Soon with 3gb.

Graphics card: ati radeon x550 with 256 graphics memory

It runs SA perfectly....Even with ENBseries.

Could gta iv work?!?! sly.gif

No it won't run. The 7900GT which has been listed as the minimum is twice powerful than the 6800GT which is the minimum for Crysis. I have to admit the minimum specs are pretty hefty though.

Will work perfectly on my PC's. biggrin.gif

Oh and 7900 definitely beats a crappy 8600, but I guess they referred to that card since it's the weakest and one of the first DX10 cards which isn't necessarily onboard.

It's worth taking stated system requirements with a pinch of salt, they're never 100% accurate and in most cases represent only a vague guide. I've found this out for myself numerous times, games with low minimum requirements often require more than actually stated, and likewise those with high minimum requirements often do not necessarily need those requirements to run well.

I only have my laptop at school,

Centrino 2 P8400

4gb ram

and....

wait for it...

Intel x4500 integrated graphics.

I think I'll just kill myself now, I wish I could have just spent a little more and had at least some kind of dedicated graphics card.

You are speaking the truth sir  smile.gif  You wont be able to play the game with all the OOOOOs and AAAAAs but you should still be able to play it at a resonable framerate.

I managed to get crysis working fine on a nvidia geforce 7300LE by overclocking the fluff into it  blush.gif  The card didnt last 2 weeks but thats not the point...  wink.gif

i cant play it i will cant even RUN IT BECUSE OF THIS BULLsh*t REQS SYSTEM

Thanks. I'm calm now.

In the mean time, how about you tell us your tales of running games on machines that were below the minimum specs.

Where do I start? I have AMD Athlon 3500+ 1GB and GeForce 8800GT 512MB.

Alone in the Dark 5 requires dual core. I'm able to run it on high smoothly after changing priority.

I'm able to run Far Cry 2 on high without dual core.

Assassins Creed required dual core too, right? It ran perfectly on my PC.

BTW I can't do harm to my PC by doing this -

minimize the game, press ctrl+alt+delete, go to processes, find Far Cry 2.exe for example, right click, set priority to high, and now the game runs smoothly on high

right?

It doesn't work with my San Andreas. When i press W he walks for about 3 seconds even when I don't have my finger on the key. Don't try it with explorer.exe - It freezes your computer wink.gif

Maybe I'm wrong (wish I am tounge2.gif )but I think gta iv won't run on pcs that don't have a shader model 3 card, why I say that?

because I bought bully se yesterday and when I start the game an error window appears:

"Bully requires a 32 bit display, and vertex and pixel shader model 3.0 support", maybe the same will happen with gta iv, but if they do it many people wouldn't be able to play it wich means less money to them so it might not happen, who knows?

  • 3 weeks later...

I don't get the point that the game requires a minimum Dual Core CPU?Why?Because if the turn the graphix on minimum, and the traffic on 10%(cause if we set this lower we'll have no cars to steal lol.gif), the CPU wouldn't be stressed, so one core should be enough. An 3 GHz single core should be enough on minimum. On recommended specs I'm not very unhappy, yet frustrated about the Quad Core, but I am dying of playing this game at least on minimum with my 1 core CPU so I'll wait for the game.

Me, personally, don't think that the game will not run on a single core CPU.We shall see!

I agree when a while back on this thread Charlie said the minimum requirements is what's needed to run at the game's console quality and performance.

When i first railed on the recommended Quad, i thought it meant the same for AMD as well. If you read carefully the AMD recommended requirement is a x3, not a quad core. Since Intel doesn't have a tri core, they're just choosing the weakest quad on their side.

That means i can get a high dual core for AMD to save some money and in my case keep my PC power consumption for the upcoming new pc the same as my current lame duck pc.

Another barebone update:

I will get the x2 5600 Brisbane as it is the highest clocked AMD at 65w, which is the same power as my single core 3500 is right now, but way better performance.
