the minimum specs are for running the game at console quality level.

The minimum specs are for playing the game @ a GOOD FPS i.e approx 30-35FPS...

the recommended are to maxx the game out at insane resolutions (it was 25xx*1xxx)

a single core may run it,but don't expect too much.

in the possible requirements topic;we already told you single-core gamers to upgrade if possible.

---------------------------

i was pretty close,though.

No. I do not think Charlie's guess was right. Minimum specs still means what it meant years ago. Having a minimum spec PC means you tread a thin line between playable framerate and unplayable framerate. But to play the game at high resolutions and high settings a med to high end Core 2 Duo is probably needed. A 2.66 GHZ Core 2 Duo will probably suffice not a Quad so don't panic.

Well, you have a single core user who agrees:

You might actually be correct. My PC is quite old I admit. -------- I have a single core 2.8ghz pentium 4 Geforce 7600GS 256mb 1.5gb ram Windows XP SP3 -------- You see, when I bought assasins creed, the min requirements were very high. Dual core 2.6 GHz being a start. Yet I was able to play the game at 1280*1024 with medium settings with a FPS of 23-25. Now tell me or what if that is shocking suicidal.gif

mscooldude as posted above.

I hope it is only a matter of those traffic and pedestrians sliders to be set to the max with those quadcores. I would be already pleased with the traffic and pedestrians density of the console Versions.

YES,that's why the slider is given to us so that we can modify the gameplay, but to enjoy the game with maximum traffic

and pedestrians density and super high resolutions you should require a high end Core2Duo,if not a Quad-core.

Also,it may be because of the video editor's features like subtitles etc etc ....

Have you noticed that the only people being negetive are the people who cant run it at 'MAX' Settings...

How much do you wanna bet that now they are gonna start a flame wars, trying to come up with a reason to slate a game that is too advanced for their wallet... yawn.gif they're so predictable... yawn.gif

Ok so I gout about 216 $ USD, is there a chance to upgrade my old 7600GS into something better ? I will need a better PSU too because now it's only 350 sh*tty watts.

Get a HD3850 or HD3870 they should be very cheap. And some used one on ebay would be even cheaper. They are worlds faster than a 7600 GS.

If your CPU is good enough than you should aim at a HD4850 or 9800 GT.

You know, if you have the money then you should futureproof yourself by buying either a ATI 4xxxx or something in either the Nvidia 8xxx (getting old now) 9xxx, or GTX 2xx

Uh, no not really.

WHY?i can get more than 60FPS i suppose tounge.gif

you people should stop comparing this with Crysis&crysis warhead.

Crysis series was the worst motherf*cking game ever.No game has been able to maxx it with over 50FPS..

even the best graphics card couldn't get more than 25FPS(with full AA enthusiast settings full AF etc)so i uninstalled the piece of sh*t.it was the worst programmed game ever.I suppose CryTek(EA) created it using a sh*tty QBASIC code(i hope you know what QBASIC is!!)if not qbasic, then Microsoft LOGO.

This is GTA IV,you are getting the game from a good brand and (my friend's brother is an Xbox 360-games programmer)GTA4 had billions or millions of codes in it.So,do not compare GTA4 with sh*tty Crysis or Crysis sh*thead(hahaha;warhead-->sh*thead).

We are talking about a budget of 216$ for PSU AND GFX Card that´s the matter.

If money is no Problem i would also say 4870 X2 or GTX280

I'm thinking of CoolerMaster Real Power RS-450-ACLY PSU 450W and Club 3D Radeon HD 3850 512MB DDR3, 256bit, HDTV, 2xDVI, PCI Express.

Hei we are going off topic.

Hei we are going off topic.

I can just tell you that with my HD3850 I can play the following Titles with Max Detail Settings sometimes with 2xAA in 1280x1024 smooth.

Those are Fallout 3, Far Cry2, Dead Space, Stalker Clear Sky, Assassins Creed and even Crysis Warhead with most settings at Gamer and 1-2 on Enthusiast.

So the HD3850 is still a good card if you don´t go for monster resolutions and AA settings and should cope very good with GTA IV as it´s just a little bit below the recommendations (3870).

Well the porblem is I have those 216$ for both-video card and psu.

Well I'm guessing the currency since I live in OZ but $70 for a 500W PSU would leave you with $146US. So that could buy you a 9600GT or a 9600GSO or a 4670 which is quite cheap, around $120. A bit more money, lets say $20-30 would let you buy a 4850 or a 9800GTX which I don't think is worth it.

Hei we are going off topic.

if your going for an AMD/ATI rig then make sure that you use the fusion utillity, it boosts your fps by a HUGE Margin!

and obviously, the modern CPUs are the big bottleneck, and the fusion utillity improves your overall CPU performance!

What is this Fusion Ultility?

An AMD utillity that removes unnessacery processes and OC's the CPU and clears up a few other things,

I would suggest that you google it for more indepth detail

Thank god that they have given us more GFX options in GTA 4 than in SA. I guess my PC will be able to get the most out of this game now.

What I'm most affraid about is that HD3850 won't fit on my AM2NF6G-VSTA motherboard.

There are some One Slot Cooling solution Versions from Sapphire they should fit even if you have a Sound Card installed into the second PCI slot.

Hi

I had a question before, but I didn't et any anwers yet

My comp looks like this... And it looks like it pass the minimum and almost the recomended

Dual Core 3.0GHz

4 gb DDR2 RAM

GeForce 8800 GTX

500 GB HD

Windows XP sp3 (getting vista is no problem, if it's really needed)

and more...

(Last game I played, was Far Cry 2 and I could run it with all Ultra settings on a resulution of 1280×1024 & with anti alising on 8 without lag )

But now I wonder if my pc will run GTAIV with better graphics then my xbox 360, or if I will be able to play the game with these spec at all, or do I really need to upgrade somenthing to run it with all settings on max.

thanx in advance

You passed all the requirements.

8800GTX is a nice stuff and the 4 GB are no problem.

You have to wait to install IV and watching it.

I think you can play it easy.

you should max this game out...

i just doubt the Dual-core processor.it has a core2duo 3GHz or 2.6GHz core2Quad as recommended
