Im not, I was asking weather it was really going to utilize all 4 cores

More crap going on, steady randomness not just a hand full of people attacking you, it's butt loads walking around just doing stuff

and cars driving around and all sorts of randomness.

GTA always has more going than the shooters floating around at the time of it's release.

If rockstar isn't hyping their stuff to get xmas sales. then we are looking at all the crysis freaks

shutting up about "well my pc plays crysis" and changing the game name to gtaiv.

I remember when it was doom3.

gta gamkes have always been my benchmarks on a new computer.

So yeah it's likely it will use the quads and as we get even newer processors I bet we will see more details in the game that we can not see as of yet. Heck I just found out that vice city and san andreas have the same street signs in them .. the one that says "no standing no parking EVER" I have seen them in the img files but never seen them on the road.

strange thing is, my old computer that has a better video card than what was available when vice city came out, does not show the signs. but teh game plays fine. on my current computer, the signs are there . oddly enough on my current computer I see that people gather around the signs.. they do not even stop in that area on the old computer.

so yeah as we get better equipment we will see more stuff. if we don't see it now, we win't even miss it.

I dont see why people complain about the PC version... I remember when I was a console gamer, I had GTAIII and because I lost the case the disc got really scratched and caused half of the scenery not to load up properly, which caused me to drive into invisible fences when trying to take shortcuts, or drive over invisible roads which caused me to just see a bluey/purpley scene beneath the road, or blurred out version of the scenery which I had just passed (it was most annoying when a subtitle had come up and it would stay on screen but blurred so I couldn't read it...)

This is bullsh*t. Gamespot said the game can run perfectly on 3 year old machines.

That's not what they said, they said the game is scalable in that it can run perfectly when maxed out at insane resolutions on the latest hardware while at the same time being playable on 3 year old machines. For the simple reasons of many settings that you can change or modify to suit your system's performance, something we never had in a GTA for PC. All we got in the past was a view distance slider which honestly didn't do much and a quality slider which was much the same deal.

No Game had ever a Quad Core as recommended even Crysis Warhead had a fast Dual Core CPU as recommended i really don´t know what this sh*t is  angry.gif

And the Graphic Card. They put a NVidia 8600 in the same line as a ATI 3870 as recommended. The 3870 killes the 8600 in any way by far.

Rockstar really know how to piss off the PC Gamers. I guess the Game will run as bad as Bully.

It's been long since there was some post I could agree 100% with. There is something fishy here.

Dual core minimum is OK, geez, single core has been near its death for ages, anyone who plays games on PC should know Single core is virtually dead.

It's not OK, this is a goddamn console port. Look at other console ports, they run fine on single cores. COD4, Oblivion, FIFA, PES. That sh*t ran on my old Prescott on medium setting with no problems. So why the f*ck did they go with a C2D minimum!?

And yes, I agree single core are obsolete, but this console garbage we're discussing here. It has been shown and proven high end single cores can perform well enough to match consoles.

Either they expanded the graphical appearance of the game (I mean beyond Crysis lol.gif) or this will be a sh*tty port, as sh*tty as they get (Bully anyone?). Erm, a tough one it's difficult for me to decide.

OH f*ck. Does this mean my 8500GT does not meet the minimum requirements? It says a 7900 is the minimum required GFX card and that card is tonnes better than a 8500GT

Im good, except for the vista thing. Which I doubt will be a huge issue

What vista thing?

I don't have vista, windows xp is what I run.

If it comes down to it I will COUGH buy vista, but I dont think the os will have a huge bearing on if the game will play.

bwahahahaha, finally, a proper use for my quadcore cpu and 6gb of ram devil.gif

Those guys you are talking about in your sig are no fun at all. When you see a guy like that on the street it makes you wish you were somewhere else. It's not they are bad or something. They are just prone to random act of extreme violence. "Random violence" and "civilization" can hardly fin into a same sentence.

if you have a rig with GTAIV's minimum, I can almost garuntee that your system still cant run Crysis at a *stable* frame rate though :S

No, Warhed is a lot more optimized then Crysis was and I could run Crysis on bare minimum on my old PC Prescott 3.0 GHz, Radeon 9800 PRO at 1024x768 on stable 24 FPS.

Now the recommended will be for those that want to play it with ALL settings maxxed at an appropriate resolution.  This will be physics turned way up to accommodate 30 car traffic jams, further draw distances and an increased ped population.  All these "better" things require more horsepower hence the need for the Quad2Core (or Duo2core eqivulent).

This is pure speculation, my man. It this was some *other* title an some *other* company I would say "lets wait and see". But this is R*, they don't have that great recent past with PC titles, do they?

Intel Dual Core Pentium D 3.40 GHz

512Mb DDR2 RAM (disregard, I will replace it soon with 2Gb)

Nvidia 8500GT 1Gb GFX Card

Windows XP Professional SP2

Will it work!?!?!?

biggrin.gif Like me you once thought the 8500GT was a card that would play any game right? Especially when you got 1GB of Ram which is a useless feature on such a crap card. I'm thinking that the 8500GT doesn't meet the minimum requirements... whatsthat.gif

Man I just want to PLAY the game. I don't care about not being able to run it at the highest resolution with full settings on everything.

I'd be happy playing it at 640x480 and having it look like GTA:SA.

In fact, I was hoping to be able to play it at 640x480 low settings until I upgrade next year.

But I don't know if my poor little GeForce 8400M GS will be able to do that even and maintain a playable frame-rate.

I pass the other requirements by a large margin. But the little 8400M GS... I would be happy with low resolutions and low settings until I can upgrade. Hopefully.. but I don't know. Debating just breaking down and buying the Xbox360 now. I can buy one tomorrow. Or I can just sell my absolutely useless MacBook and buy an Xbox360 plus a bunch of games. hahah.

Wow, Rockstar did a VERY WELL job porting this game. sarcasm.gif Core 2 Quad as the f*cking recommended? Even Crysis has Core 2 Duo. That's really sick. Really.

And, how could the GF 7900 listed in the minimum while 8600 listed on the recommended? So now GF 8600 IS FASTER than 7900? Wow, WELL DONE. You, Rockstars, READ THIS before you wanna post something about it:

Nvidia: GeForce 8 series

Nvidia: GeForce 7 series

So, me (a guy which has a GF 8500 in my machine) don't have a chance running this game? This is a f*cking console port, dammit. I can even run Medal of Honor: Airborne maxed (which is a crappy port).

One-Time, yeah that's what I was thinking well looking at those requirements in disbelief. Since when was a 8600 faster than a 7900. The different memory might make a difference but the 7900 is way better card than the 8600. If they only included the recommended requirements I wouldn't be so surprised. The 8600 GT is the recommended card for many games now days

Actually I'm still shocked seeing that requirements. How could the Euphoria engine runs quite good on console but it f*cking needs a Core 2 Quad to be maxed out? Current gen consoles' CPUs are almost equal to SINGLE CORE PENTIUM 4 3.0 GHZ!

I've seen previous GTAs are well ported from the PS2. But THIS?? OK, I start thinking that they want to piss off the PC gamers. I hope they read our rants. lol

the minimum specs are for running the game at console quality level.

The minimum specs are for playing the game @ a GOOD FPS i.e approx 30-35FPS...

the recommended are to maxx the game out at insane resolutions (it was 25xx*1xxx)

a single core may run it,but don't expect too much.

in the possible requirements topic;we already told you single-core gamers to upgrade if possible.

let me compare the official reqs to my predicted reqs:(MINImum):

OFFICIAL: MY predicted:

1.8GHz 1.6GHz

1GB RAM(winXP) 768MB RAM(WinXP)

nVidia 7900 nvidia 6800GT mercie_blink.gif

16GB HDS 15GB HDS (Hard Disk Space)

---------------------------

i was pretty close,though.

No. I do not think Charlie's guess was right. Minimum specs still means what it meant years ago. Having a minimum spec PC means you tread a thin line between playable framerate and unplayable framerate. But to play the game at high resolutions and high settings a med to high end Core 2 Duo is probably needed. A 2.66 GHZ Core 2 Duo will probably suffice not a Quad so don't panic.

Sooo, after upgrades my system will be as follows:

AMD 6000+ X2 (3.0Ghz)

2Gb RAM (this will be upgraded to 3-4 later on)

ATi HD 4850 overclocked

500Gb HDD (like it matters, but meh)

Windows Vista Ultimate (yeah, vista, but it will be able to take better advantage of modern hardware)

So, you guys think i'll be just fine?

You might actually be correct. My PC is quite old I admit.

--------

I have a single core 2.8ghz pentium 4

Geforce 7600GS 256mb

1.5gb ram

Windows XP SP3

--------

You see, when I bought assasins creed, the min requirements were very high. Dual core 2.6 GHz being a start. Yet I was able to play the game at 1280*1024 with medium settings with a FPS of 23-25. Now tell me or what if that is shocking suicidal.gif

Guys, please tell me something good.

I have

AMD Athlon 3500+ 1GB

GeForce 8800+ 512mb

I'm able to run Far Cry 2 at high with priority change, Mass Effect on max without lagging, Alone in the Dark 5 at high. Am I still going to be able to run IV at min?

You see ppl?

Rare people have quadcore pocessors.

The most people have a Pentium 4 or C2D or an AMD CPU's.

I hope R* getting failiet if they really really requires the big fat ass quadbike.

You see people, Rare guys have Quadcore.

I hope it is only a matter of those traffic and pedestrians sliders to be set to the max with those quadcores.

I would be already pleased with the traffic and pedestrians density of the console Versions.
