PC! Better graphics, keyboard and mouse not some sh*tty controls, no stupid lock on aim, better multiplayer etc!

No I don't think there will be any need to OC your CPU as it is a fairly fast CPU to begin with

Yes.. with a motherboard very close to yours and also with DDR2 800Mhz memos...

So... just try.

Disable EIST and C1E from the menu where they are...

Then go to OC menu and change FSB to 400 (for example) it would be 3200mhz (400x8)

And your memories will go 800mhz also (400x2)

You won't have to change VCORE settings (wich is the voltaje you supply to the processor) and temperature won't rise almost nothing....

I've got a Zalman 9500AT if you want to know....

Yes CPU and Ram and everything else is fine but if you want to get by with High settings you are going to want something like a 8800GT and better

Oc would make things easier... so why not OC all these C2D....!!!

I would recommend 4850/4870 9800+ 260+...

You will need a nice PSU (with nice Amperes?? in 12V line)

Come on... i mean Ocing without touching vcore..... that won't rise temperatures at all (you can check it with programs)

I don't think it's a lock for that system to run everything on high or very high, without getting tons of slowdown, even at 1280x1024.

IIRC, the german magazine preview said a C2D and 8800 class card was good for medium. Medium should easily look better than the consoles.

I think this game is going to be a real ball breaker.

I'm just hoping my single core A64 will at least launch the game. I'm already expecting crap performance.

Come on, the read me says X1900/7900 and below aren't displaying car damage ! So I'm taking everything they said about making sure it will run on 3 year old systems, with a huge grain of salt. sarcasm.gif

problem with reviews is they arent mentioning resolution for all we know that could be medium at 1920x1200 sad.gif

Yeah but there are different 8800GT's. I bet that they used older 8800GT. I'm having newer one with G92. Also What kind of C2D? There are 10 or more C2D's. Was it E8400? or was it E6700? Maybe it was E5xxx something. And then they are not saying what resolution did they use. When they were running this game with older 8800GT and with E6700 C2D or whatever and with 1920x1200 resolution then no sh*t that they weren't able to play it with good settings and smoothly. So we just have to wait. Oh f*ck sake! When it arrives tomorrow in US and they will ship it out then I will get it by Friday. But i think that I just can't resist and I have to DL it from somewhere for so long. cryani.gif

I'm pretty sure that the recommended specs are for people that want maximium graphics on a 2560x1600 resolution which I have heard GTA IV will support this.

The minimum specs are simply outlining the importance of dualcore to give hardcore gamers the privilege of modifying there style of gaming by 'Performance Vs Quality'.

I have a Dualcore 2 duo E6700 @ 2.67ghz with a Nvidia Geforce 9600GT , I have no doubt that I'll be able to run this game at 768x1360 resolution (widescreen) and have my pick of what level of graphics I want without loosing any performance. Or I can have 1920x1080 resolution with minimum graphics quality without loosing performance.

If Dualcores were not upto the challenge, the minimum required would be a quadcore (which would be too insane for the market at this time!)

A single core such as pentium 4 should be able to run the game at the price of a very low resolution around (600x800) and very low graphics. This should give you a some performance. As long as you have the required os system.

Rockstar are simply pointing out that a single core will ruin your gaming experiance of GTA IV.

Word. I'm also pretty sure about that those recommended are for 2560x1600 or whatever and ultra high density traffic etc. I'm pretty sure that this game isn't some sh*tty Port because R* knows that he can't f*ck this thing up or he has to pay the price. I'm also 90% sure that I will be able to run IV with all high settings and 1280x1024.

We'll see. But I think it's a huge assumption to think they were testing at 1920x1200 resolution.

Also a G92 8800 is a refresh of the original G80. More shader processors, faster clock, smaller die process etc..

but it is not a night and day difference. If an 8800 is struggling at a certain res and detail, I don't think a G92 based 8800 will handle the same settings perfectly. Think back to the old days. It's like comparing a Geforce 2 Ultra to a regular Geforce 2, or a 9800XT with a 9700Pro. Or an X850XT Platinum edition vs. a plain old X800, or an X1900XTX vs an X1800Xt etc....

I'm imagining there is a lot of variability in the settings. Like traffic density. Both the consoles don't have much traffic. Even a doubling of traffic would be a huge improvement. But maxing that slider might really fill up the streets and I could see how even the latest cards couldn't handle that 100% perfectly with no chugginess on occasion. Imagine if there was realistic NYC traffic levels. Like 50 cars on screen at once.

The big thing to worry about it minimum frame rate. An 8800 might handle high settings ok until you get 10 cops and 2 choppers chasing you a and molotovs exploding and then the fps will dive.

We're all just guessing, but from eurogamer's description and other previews, I doubt your system will handle everything on high, even at a modest resolution, without dropping below 30fps when the action gets heavy.

Just updated to a EVGA GTX 260 Core 216. Cant wait for GTA IV now!!

I get a 14500 VirtualMarks score. I guess that is about average for a pc gamer?

Hoping i can run everything pretty high at 1280x1024 monocle.gif

So, if I was to upgrade anything on my rig, what would you do first?  I probably have enough to do just one thing.

Intel E6600 @ 2.4Ghz

nVidia 8800 GTS 640 (G80 core)

2 Gigs DDR2-800 Ram

Asus P5N-E SLI motherboard

I'm not running SLI, but as far as I can tell I couldn't even get another GTS 640 anywhere.  I'm wondering if it would be worth it to get a GTS 512 (G92 core).  It says that it's PCI-E 2.0, which my motherboard is not (not sure if that really matters a whole lot).

Or, if it would be worth it to get a Q6600 (the motherboard will take it).

Asking again

Trying again...

This is why new threads are useful...
